Maria Grazia Lissa
Born in 1955 in Posina, a small village at the foot of Mount Pasubio, in the province of Vicenza, the last of twelve children. With suffering but also with determination, thirteen years after Maria Grazia leaves his small village where he had grown to love everything (the clear sky, the shadow of the woods,...) to go in Schio (Vicenza), where he attended for two years the Gymnasium.

In the 70's in Padua, a city of art studies and from which you leave slowly adopt, beginning to love the beautiful streets filled with arcades, the beautiful squares, ancient churches, and finally that particular environment citizen who certainly did not lack for important cultural stimuli.

Here, in high school Livy, he attended the last years of high school and after completing high school, he enrolled in Humanities.

His university education is set up with the aim of deepening the History of Art: the thesis is passionately dedicated to putting fruit in addition to a now certain critical skills, even those his personal readings of psychoanalysis which, in time, are become more and more intense and precise. Upon graduation thesis presents an "experimental" History of Contemporary Art: "Giorgio de Chirico: les fleurs du mal - a 'psychoanalytic interpretation of his art. "
The rest is the investigation of the mind and the analysis of what is at the bottom of the meanderings of our "being in that certain way" that Maria Grazia Lissa is looking through his painting and his "strains" in terracotta. So it is, for example, in "The Knot", a small sculpture that speaks of a strange family..Wanting to understand the origin of the primary impulse from which it springs, painful, the matrix of our restlessness, to solve the mystery of this our subtle intense anxiety..

He paints since 1975, oil painting "The Dummy-Mara" one of the first dramatic image of a doll with no hair, no legs, no arms, brings this date.

While in periodic interruptions, fails to implement immediately its staff, "emotional" technical research even though his studies of art history come immediately to be an integral part of his creativity: "live painting and drawing as a liberating gestures than ever I wanted to harness attending a school that taught 'to make contemporary art'. Mixing of colors, scratching, scraping, relief, frottage, collage.., are all things that use instinctively.."
In '99 is another valuable tool in the ceramic, attending a course at "Ceramics of the Riviera" in Mira (Ve) and then continuing for at least a couple of seasons, at the School of Ceramics Cadoneghe. But even in this new artistic expression remains that his instinctive character, from 'noble savagè, which allows it to conduct and defend its rough and authentic stylistic identity, which over time, inevitably, you will gradually become more refined and cultured.

Although if his technique wants to be free from methods and "secrets of the shop" in the Content-intrinsic complementary to the form, not content with the immediate, dell'appariscente: his work is a subtle, intimate search of the Soul and memories that belong to it.

The research is very demanding, never predictable, never boring.

Moments, long pauses (the bas-relief "Narcissus" exposes quell'inquietante stream petrified...) looks infinite (see the oil "The tent" but also the bas-relief "Waiting" or "Giulia waiting"), gestures of the mind that shine, subtle, from faces who abandon themselves to those who pass and observe.

Mesta sweetness of those moments of failure and then despair, resignation.. And still other transcendent experiences that mark our daily life, exhausting passage of time: there is everything in these faces peering property, set them in that cramped space, crystallized forever emblematic oil "The tent" of the 90s or "Grudge", but also more recent works such as the bas-relief "The time of the" 2003 or "Acquadolce" the same year.

No nostalgia and allusion, dreamlike vision and retelling of the myth (see "Narcissus" or "Sarah"), but also disturbance (see "Medusa" a. 2003, which speaks of recent horrors) whose long roots of course, are still lifeblood even in the simple everyday life, (See "The seller of birds") or those "little things in bad taste" (see "Miss Felicity" or "Vanessa gets married") and finally and again - as nor could it be? - in their own lived far away, in his autobiographical suffered verification (V oil "Little Pierrot" or "Dummy")
The artist likes to call so many portraits that are now part of his large repertoire: "Silent, keep critters generated perhaps with the sole desire to establish a mute dialogue with the beholder.., creatures who give and ask for company, no limits of time.."
From 1978 up to 84 participated in exhibitions and group shows in some cities of Veneto and Italy, obtaining good honors and then suspend almost all activities until the end of the 80s, when he resumed his public presence devoting himself mainly to satirical drawings. Her designs are published for over a year by the newspaper Il Gazzettino, from which she took leave in 1991 to set up his first solo exhibition, organized with the support of the Culture, in the Auditorium of the City of Vigo.

From '92 to '97 are still years of suspension, of crisis: minimizes his painting career, he participates in the collective but only on a local and using almost exclusively to the works of recovery. And 'This is the period in which he dedicates himself to the reading of Freud, Adler, Jung. The desire to give a new impetus to their days in the old projects and makes resume and complete his university studies he had abandoned. Joined by a few years at art group "Form and Color" Mira, has begun to successfully participate in various collective, regional and national exhibitions.

Currently his creativity has returned to a renewed, vigorous energy, accompanied by a safe artistic consciousness that seems to 'live with their own light': the artist who appreciates, but it certainly is not looking for confirmation and consent, lives a rather reserved.

Her house has become a irreplaceable, wonderful Art Gallery, where the renewed about every new morning is to go, forever, in Search of Lost Time.

We heartily thank Grazia and her husband for their kindness, their availability in recommending places and routes during our stay, we literally lacked nothing, an excellent breakfast with homemade cakes, spectacular the pie, as well as the delicious yogurt and bread, they made us feel at home, the place is located in their very quiet and private park, the house is tastefully furnished. Grazia is a painter and sculptress, so in the common spaces you can admire some of her works, themed rooms are welcoming, very well-kept in detail, a terrace to share where you can sip an aperitif at sunset, we greatly appreciated the kettles with the wide choice of herbal teas, which Grazia made us find every evening! Absolutely recommended! Thanks again from Sonia Camillo Tiziana Romano.

Arrived in front of a large gate, I was welcomed not only making me comfortable, but making me feel like part of her family the owner Maria Grazia Lissa, a woman with a reassuring and precise gaze, welcoming. In addition to her kindness, a fairy-tale but real scenario opened up to me, where a wonderful park and a villa furnished in a not extravagant but tasteful way, where you would want to live. Rooms that evoke experiences and precious wood, with every comfort and absolute privacy. A spacious terrace allowed me to relax finally, even if for a short time, in front of a green, well-kept and very romantic view. The lady also accepted my shy cat. I also had the opportunity to meet her husband, a very good and kind doctor. But above all, some paintings struck me, without knowing that the artist (acclaimed) is precisely Mrs. Lissa. A short break, her affectionate and wonderful dogs. In short, nothing happens by chance and so I will return to enjoy a few dreamy days. Thank you.

We were supposed to do a tour of the villas on the Brenta, so the location was perfect for embarking in Stra and for the return by bus. Quiet, isolated place, therefore peace and quiet. Maria Grazia perfect for the constancy of her attentions, always available for advice on places and restaurants. Maybe because I have Venetian origins, but I felt at home. I really recommend it.

Il Rustico is optimally and centrally located to visit much of the Veneto region, perfect to reach Venice without a car and take advantage of the bus that stops 50 meters away. I speak lastly of Maria Grazia, a person of extreme kindness and always present, ready to give useful advice to visit the surroundings. Maria Grazia also prepares delicious and satisfying breakfasts daily. Highly recommended!

With a couple of friends, we were looking for a Bed and Breakfast near Venice (half an hour away) and by chance we found B&B Il Rustico. It was a huge surprise, a quiet and romantic place in the middle of greenery and special hospitality: Maria Grazia (the owner) is a sculptor/painter and everywhere the good taste and refinement of the artist shine through; the rooms, the living areas, and all the rest of the house furnished with antique furniture, a large garden, and terraces with garden views. Very clean and well-kept, a delicious and plentiful breakfast with quality products and homemade pastries. Maria Grazia is truly a beautiful person and her grace and artistic nature shine through. If we have the opportunity, we will stop there again, we recommend it to everyone!

Grazie, Maria, delle cose bellissime che hai scritto. Sono la ricompensa più grande. Il grande pensatore Hume diceva: ”la bellezza delle cose esiste nella mente di chi le contempla” e con la vostra visita non posso che confermare! Grazie e buona Pasqua a tutti voi. M. Grazia.

The house is beautiful and was very convenient for us to drive either to Padova and Venice. We were family of 5 and the kids had a great fun playing with the two big white dogs. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was very tasty and generous, one of the best that we had in our trip. But the most important thing was that we felt at home. The owner went out of her way to help us, despite the language barrier, with information about traveling in the area and made us feel at home. Great place!

La struttura, veramente fantastica, è posizionata in posizione baricentrica sull'asse Padova-Venezia a poche centinaia di metri dalla Riviera del Brenta. Ho passato insieme a mia moglie 5 nottate indimenticabili. Antonio e Anna Maria.
