Maria Grazia Lissa
Born in 1955 in Posina, a small village at the foot of Mount Pasubio, in the province of Vicenza, the last of twelve children. With suffering but also with determination, thirteen years after Maria Grazia leaves his small village where he had grown to love everything (the clear sky, the shadow of the woods,...) to go in Schio (Vicenza), where he attended for two years the Gymnasium.

In the 70's in Padua, a city of art studies and from which you leave slowly adopt, beginning to love the beautiful streets filled with arcades, the beautiful squares, ancient churches, and finally that particular environment citizen who certainly did not lack for important cultural stimuli.

Here, in high school Livy, he attended the last years of high school and after completing high school, he enrolled in Humanities.

His university education is set up with the aim of deepening the History of Art: the thesis is passionately dedicated to putting fruit in addition to a now certain critical skills, even those his personal readings of psychoanalysis which, in time, are become more and more intense and precise. Upon graduation thesis presents an "experimental" History of Contemporary Art: "Giorgio de Chirico: les fleurs du mal - a 'psychoanalytic interpretation of his art. "
The rest is the investigation of the mind and the analysis of what is at the bottom of the meanderings of our "being in that certain way" that Maria Grazia Lissa is looking through his painting and his "strains" in terracotta. So it is, for example, in "The Knot", a small sculpture that speaks of a strange family..Wanting to understand the origin of the primary impulse from which it springs, painful, the matrix of our restlessness, to solve the mystery of this our subtle intense anxiety..

He paints since 1975, oil painting "The Dummy-Mara" one of the first dramatic image of a doll with no hair, no legs, no arms, brings this date.

While in periodic interruptions, fails to implement immediately its staff, "emotional" technical research even though his studies of art history come immediately to be an integral part of his creativity: "live painting and drawing as a liberating gestures than ever I wanted to harness attending a school that taught 'to make contemporary art'. In '99 is another valuable tool in the ceramic, attending a course at "Ceramics of the Riviera" in Mira (Ve) and then continuing for at least a couple of seasons, at the School of Ceramics Cadoneghe. But even in this new artistic expression remains that his instinctive character, from 'noble savagè, which allows it to conduct and defend its rough and authentic stylistic identity, which over time, inevitably, you will gradually become more refined and cultured.

Although if his technique wants to be free from methods and "secrets of the shop" in the Content-intrinsic complementary to the form, not content with the immediate, dell'appariscente: his work is a subtle, intimate search of the Soul and memories that belong to it.

The research is very demanding, never predictable, never boring.

Moments, long pauses (the bas-relief "Narcissus" exposes quell'inquietante stream petrified...) looks infinite (see the oil "The tent" but also the bas-relief "Waiting" or "Giulia waiting"), gestures of the mind that shine, subtle, from faces who abandon themselves to those who pass and observe.

Mesta sweetness of those moments of failure and then despair, resignation.. The artist likes to call so many portraits that are now part of his large repertoire: "Silent, keep critters generated perhaps with the sole desire to establish a mute dialogue with the beholder.., creatures who give and ask for company, no limits of time.."
From 1978 up to 84 participated in exhibitions and group shows in some cities of Veneto and Italy, obtaining good honors and then suspend almost all activities until the end of the 80s, when he resumed his public presence devoting himself mainly to satirical drawings. Her designs are published for over a year by the newspaper Il Gazzettino, from which she took leave in 1991 to set up his first solo exhibition, organized with the support of the Culture, in the Auditorium of the City of Vigo.

From '92 to '97 are still years of suspension, of crisis: minimizes his painting career, he participates in the collective but only on a local and using almost exclusively to the works of recovery. And 'This is the period in which he dedicates himself to the reading of Freud, Adler, Jung. The desire to give a new impetus to their days in the old projects and makes resume and complete his university studies he had abandoned. Joined by a few years at art group "Form and Color" Mira, has begun to successfully participate in various collective, regional and national exhibitions.

Currently his creativity has returned to a renewed, vigorous energy, accompanied by a safe artistic consciousness that seems to 'live with their own light': the artist who appreciates, but it certainly is not looking for confirmation and consent, lives a rather reserved.
