Description

"All’Ombra di San Damiano" is a hospitality establishment located in a farmhouse featuring ancient stone walls, exposed wooden beam ceilings, and vintage terracotta floors. It has been fully renovated and is earthquake-resistant, equipped with all modern conveniences. The name comes from the nearby San Damiano Convent, one of the most significant sites in the history of the Franciscan foundation, where the crucifix spoke to Saint Francis.

Situated on a hill at the edge of Assisi, it is only 300 meters from the San Damiano Convent, easily reachable by foot, and just 1. 5 km (5 minutes by car) from the historic center of Assisi. Surrounded by lush nature, abundant with wild vegetation and fields of vineyards and olive trees, All’Ombra di San Damiano offers not only the beauty of unspoiled landscapes and the tranquility characteristic of the gentle Umbrian countryside but also all the necessary comforts to ensure a serene and enjoyable stay.

Our five spacious double rooms come with all the amenities: LED TV, Wi-Fi internet, air conditioning, independent heating, coffee machines with pods in each room, and in the common area, you will find a large refrigerator as well as a tea and herbal tea corner with a kettle and microwave.

HOW TO GET TO ASSISI:

BY CAR
From the North
To reach Assisi by car from Northern Italy, you can take two routes: you can use the A14 Adriatic highway (Bologna/Taranto), exit at Cesena, and continue to Perugia on the E45 until the exit for Assisi. Or you can take a section of the A1 highway, exit at Valdichiana, reaching Perugia and joining the E45 to Cesena until Assisi.

From the South
The same double route by car applies to those coming from the South: always take the A14 Adriatic highway, exit at Civitanova Marche, continue to Foligno - Perugia until the exit for Assisi. For those who prefer to take the A1, you can exit at Orte and continue on the E45 towards Perugia - Cesena until the exit for Assisi.

BY TRAIN
By train, the reference railway line is Florence - Terontola - Perugia - Foligno, with arrival in Assisi at the Santa Maria degli Angeli station. From Santa Maria degli Angeli to Assisi, there are regular bus services. Consult the bus schedule.

BY PLANE
To arrive by plane: the reference airport is the Umbro San Francesco d'Assisi International Airport, 12 km from Assisi, connected to the city by various taxis. The Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino (Rome) is also connected to Assisi daily by SULGA bus services.

Highly recommended! We particularly appreciated: the courtesy, availability, and advice of Giulio, the owner; the quiet location in the countryside, but 5 minutes from the parking for the center, and very close to San Damiano, also reachable on foot; clean and quiet rooms, recently renovated; relaxing atmosphere, with a garden in front of the rooms; common room with fridge, kettle, and microwave. We will definitely come back next time!

The place is very private with a panoramic view of the garden. Living room dining area very beautiful, rustic and large with central fireplace. Large and comfortable rooms. We suggest it to those who want to stay in a quieter area but still very close to Assisi.

The B&B 'All'ombra di San Damiano' is a delightful, authentic, well-kept and very clean structure, located in a wonderful and peaceful corner of paradise, in a perfect position to reach Assisi with a short walk. Giulio, the owner, is a wonderful, caring and kind person, a perfect host, who lovingly takes care of the structure and kindly looks after the guests. Noteworthy added value - in this scorching season - the fridge always full of bottles of water for free use. We couldn't have been better.

The rooms were stunning and clean and bigger than expected. Although the property is a little outside Assisi, the walk to Assisi is so beautiful we were glad we didn't stay in the city itself. The host was generosity itself and even drove us to the train station. Should we ever come to Assisi again we will absolutely stay here.

We stayed five nights at this B&B chosen online and we really enjoyed it. Comfortable accommodation, in a quiet location among olive trees. A nice uphill walk of about two km leads to the center of Assisi passing through the San Damiano convent. Comfortable room and more than abundant breakfast, served in the tastefully decorated room. Beautifully renovated farmhouse located on the hill just below the center of Assisi, with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and distant hills. We stayed in December for two nights, three people, in a spacious and well-furnished room, enhanced by antique furniture, with an attached bathroom; the rooms were well heated. Excellent location, B&B immersed in the greenery and in peace but at the same time a few minutes from Porta Nuova (in less than 2 minutes by car you reach the free parking lot in front of the hospital and from there you enter Assisi through Porta Nuova in 2-3 minutes on foot). The host is very helpful, courteous, and a mine of information. Nothing to complain about, I would definitely come back for my next stay in Umbria.

We stayed at this property for a couple of days, returning from a week at the beach in Campania. The property was recommended to us by my sister who had been there last year. The property is beautiful, surrounded by greenery and a stone's throw from the city of Assisi. We stayed with our little girl in the green room, very comfortable. One of the most beautiful things is that breakfast is served at a single table, allowing you to chat with the other guests. Giulio was a helpful and courteous host. He provided us with all the information we needed. My daughter particularly enjoyed the company of Lillo, the very good dog that cheers up the B&B. I don't know if Lillo appreciated my daughter's persistent attentions! We will definitely come back!

I had to give ten to this B&B because there is no eleven. Everything was excellent: hospitality, kindness, cleanliness. Not even a speck of dust. The manager, Giulio, is truly a guy who dedicates himself to his guests with passion and provides a structure with three rooms, each more delightful than the other. In our room, there was even a little window that, when opened, revealed a nest of sparrows (the blue one). The dog Billo is a funny guy and our children immediately fell in love with him. The backdrop to all this are the hills near Assisi with stretches of green and olive trees. We left today and we already miss it. Thank you Giulio for making our vacation a unique memory for us and our three children.
