Description
The Casa del Lauro (Laurel house) is a "place of memory", an old friulian house that has remained intact over the centuries.

We have two double bedrooms: a room called Babà (The old uncle), and a room called Dario. The Dario have a bathroom inside; Babà has the own bathroom but not in the room.

We have two extra beds and a cot for children which can be added or in Dario.

There is a large and leafy garden with a small fountain of fresh running water and two private parking spaces.

On request we can organize visits and routes of your interest. We can also rent to you a couple of bikes. The library of house offers a lot of volumes, even of naturalistic literature. The price includes the breakfast “a buffet”.

Special discounts for longer stays. For the organization of visits and routes,
prices to be agreed.

Free WiFi Internet access. Credit cards not accepted.

Special prices for pilgrims traveling along the "Via Postumia".

These are the owners of the B&B, but when they were little. They are Caterina and Fabiano Zaina, siblings. The photo was taken in some year after the Second World War (the specific year is not mentioned, naturally).

Area
Casa del Lauro is located in Italy, in the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, in Porpetto (UD), a charming village just off the motorway Trieste - Venezia (A4 -- E70), taking the Porpetto-San Giorgio di Nogaro toll exit.
From here you can easily reach some of the most interesting places in the region: Trieste 40 minutes by car; Venice 1h30’ driving or 1h15' by train, (trains run every hour, departing from San Giorgio di Nogaro); Tolmezzo (access to the mountains) 50'; Cividale, ancient capital of Lombard, 45'; Ronchi Airport 40', etc. . It is an ideal starting point for either cultural tours or excursions in the countryside. Aquileia, third city of the Roman Empire is just half an hour drive away; it is full of Roman monuments and (perhaps even more interesting) of Paleochristian remains. In less than one hour you can drive to the golden beaches of Grado and Lignano. The area near Porpetto is unique for practicing bird-watching and sea-watching. The area is also ideal for cycling tours. A short distance from Porpetto, on the Stella (Star) river, you can go canoeing in a well preserved and evocative scenery. In 30 minutes by car you get to the Karst, which combines a unique and characteristic environment and a recent and sad history. Most of the First World War battles between the Austrian and the Italian armies were fought here, in places that you can now access and visit following historical paths. Don’t forget the Friulian cuisine, true to its peasant origins, and the worldwide renowned wines (superb the white ones). On request, we would be pleased to organize visits and routes tailored to the guests’ interests.

Accommodation as described. Negative point: overcharge of 4€ due to the fact that we stayed only one night. It was not mentioned on the website.

The answer from the host:
Je suis désolé de contredire le sympathique Benjamin, mais s’il avait bien regardé, parmi les Conditions, Notes complémentaires, il aurait lu que, pour les séjours d’une nuit seulement, le prix aurait augmenté de 5 euros.. Pourtant je lui ai accordé une petite réduction lui faisant payer 4 euros.
