Area city center
We are in the center of Puglia, an ideal starting point to visit it: Cisternino (One of the most beautiful villages in Italy).
It is very pleasant to walk through its small and delightful old village, admire the panorama from the numerous viewpoints overlooking the Itria Valley, and eat in the butchers that cook meat on the stove.
Torre Guaceto (WWF Oasis)
Distance: 30 km
The Torre Guaceto State Nature Reserve covers about 1,200 hectares and has a coastal front that stretches for 8,000 meters.
Ostuni (The White City)
Distance: 10 km
It is truly a mystical place: it stands out in all its beauty just a few kilometers from the Adriatic coast. It is worth taking a walk there, even just for its historic center, one of the largest and best-preserved in southern Italy.
Ceglie Messapica (capital of gastronomy)
Distance: 10 km
Of ancient Messapian origins, it is a small town with white houses and quiet squares, with a beautiful Ducal Castle from the 15th century.
Locorotondo (One of the most beautiful villages in Italy)
Distance: 15 km
The ancient circular nucleus is undeniably charming and attractive with its white lime that envelops everything and the decoration of the narrow streets jealously guarded by its inhabitants. Its houses end with unusual pointed roofs that are called "cummerse" here.
Martina Franca (city of art)
Distance: 15 km
An elegant town nestled on one of the last southern hills of the Murgia, overlooking the enchanting Itria Valley, a splendid green-white expanse of trulli.
The main attraction of the city is undoubtedly its characteristic historic center, a splendid example of Baroque art, with its narrow streets, white alleys, noble palaces, and majestic churches.
Alberobello (UNESCO World Heritage)
Distance: 30 km
This village seems to have come out of a fairy tale, entirely made up of trulli by the will of the Count of Acquaviva, known as the "one-eyed" of Puglia. These unique buildings in the world, thanks to the dry stone wall technique, met the need not to pay taxes to the emperor, as they could be easily demolished and rebuilt without the use of mortar.
Egnazia (Archaeological Park)
Distance: 20 km
The ancient Messapian city has left a clear imprint of its streets, walls, forum, amphitheater, and dwellings; in the nearby archaeological museum, there are sculptures, jewelry, coins, and ceramics produced here. In summer, it is also possible to attend theatrical and musical events in the suggestive archaeological setting.
Fasano (Zoo Safari)
Distance: 15 km
The largest wildlife park in Italy.
Grotte di Castellana (among the largest in Italy)
Distance: 50 km
The Castellana Caves constitute the largest karst complex in Italy ever explored by man. The visit unfolds along a fascinating scenario of about 3 km, through caves and chasms with mythological or fantastic names, up to the White Cave, defined as the most beautiful cave in the world, bright and splendid.
Lecce (Capital of Southern Baroque)
Distance: 80 km
What is called the Florence of the South is a treasure chest, aristocratic and elegant, of incredible Baroque treasures. The buildings, churches, and chapels are sumptuous works of art, built with a unique, soft and white stone called "pietra leccese," which, when exposed to air, takes on the warm golden color of the sun.
Bari (Regional capital and international airport)
Distance: 85 km
The modern urban center consists of the new city (founded in 1813 by Gioacchino Murat), which extends between the railway and the coast with orthogonal grid streets, and the old city (known as "Bari Vecchia") between the new and old ports, enclosed to the east by walls that separate it from the promenade, with a medieval urban layout.
Matera (UNESCO World Heritage)
Distance: 100 km
The Sassi are a gigantic sculpture, an urban miracle: built next to two karst valleys on the right bank of a ravine, they appear as a tangle of alleys, squares, neighborhoods, caves, rock churches, and cellars that sink into the depths of the earth, partially excavated and partially built dwellings, whose roofs sometimes serve as paths, sometimes as floors for other houses.
Castel del Monte (UNESCO World Heritage)
Distance: 140 km
In 1996, UNESCO included it in the list of World Heritage Sites for the perfection of its forms and the harmonious union of cultural elements from northern Europe, the Islamic world, and classical antiquity, a typical example of medieval military architecture. Despite being commonly called a "castle," the exact function of Castel del Monte is still unknown.
