Description
Rebeccu Arte e Ospitalità is born from a decade of experience in producing and managing the logistics of artistic residences, aiming to connect travelers with the cultural and environmental heritage of the region. Located in the medieval village of Rebeccu, within the municipality of Bonorva, the project enhances the local agro-pastoral and artisanal traditions by offering a hospitality model that combines exploration of the area with art and creativity.
The facility consists of a hostel with shared spaces, including a co-working area and a communal kitchen, as well as nine private cottages with bathrooms, all designed to be simple yet functional. The atmosphere is intentionally minimalist, aiming to enhance services without compromising the authenticity that defines the village. Guests can enjoy Wi-Fi, a self-service coffee/snack corner, book-crossing, a projector, and board games, all in an environment that encourages cultural exchange and relaxation.
Rebeccu welcomes travelers interested in the nature and archaeology of Sardinia, as well as artists seeking an inspiring place for study and research. Stays can be customized, whether for an immersive vacation or an artistic residency project. This minimalist hospitality ensures a balance between comfort and authenticity, providing a unique experience in an unspoiled setting rich in history.

Valeria Orani, a theater producer with over thirty years of experience, established 369gradi in 2003, the first Italian organization aimed at supporting innovative young theater companies. Over the years, her work has expanded to encompass training, mentoring, and fostering international connections in the performing arts.
Since 2013, she has focused on promoting Italian theater in the United States, launching the Italian and American Playwrights Project in 2015 in partnership with the Martin E. Segal Theatre Center at the City University of New York. Supported by institutions such as LaMama Theatre, the Italian Cultural Institute, and New York University, this project has facilitated the translation and dissemination of contemporary Italian dramaturgy, earning significant recognition.
After nearly thirty years abroad, in 2019, Orani chose to reconnect with Sardinia through the AMINA/ANIMA project, which won the IdentityLab_2 grant and investigates the cultural identity of emigrant artists and those of Sardinian descent. This initiative culminated in curating the Day of the Contemporary, featuring works by Antonio Marras and a performance at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York.
Since 2021, the Municipality of Bonorva has entrusted her with directing MusaMadre, a multidisciplinary festival held in the ancient village of Rebeccu, which combines theater, cinema, music, and literature. Alongside this, she has initiated the artistic residency Ischèliu/Richiamo, which brings together emigrant artists to create a collective film focused on their roots.
Her collaboration with Antonio Marras resulted in the Digital Fashion Show Spring-Summer 2021, filmed in the Santu Lussurgiu forest and showcased at Milan Fashion Week. For her dedication to contemporary cultural production in Sardinia, she received the Alziator Award in 2021.

Rebeccu is a village suspended in time, enveloped in an atmosphere that blends history and legend. It is located on a limestone plateau just a few kilometers from Bonorva, surrounded by a captivating landscape of rolling hills and valleys that narrate centuries of life and culture. The village, with its narrow streets paved with stone and dirt and its houses built against the rock, retains the charm of a past that still surfaces in architectural details and collective memory.
During the medieval period, Rebeccu served as a strategic center, the capital of the curatoria of Costaval in the Giudicato of Torres, highlighting its political and economic significance. Even today, remnants of the Roman road that once connected Cagliari to Olbia can be seen in the vicinity, marking an ancient communication network that traversed Sardinia.
However, Rebeccu is not just a place of documented history; it is also a land of myths and stories passed down through generations. Among the most famous legends is that of Donoria, a princess, and Jana, a mysterious figure straddling the line between woman and magical being, who, banished by her father, the lord of the village, cast a curse on Rebeccu: the village would never exceed thirty houses. This dark omen still looms over the ruins and abandoned homes today, adding to the enigmatic allure of the place.
Today, Rebeccu is an almost uninhabited village, but its silence is filled with intrigue. Its stones still speak to those who venture there, telling tales of a glorious past and a present focused on rediscovery and enhancement of the territory. It is an ideal location for those seeking a deep connection with the history, nature, and the most authentic spirit of Sardinia.
