While it is uncertain which nuraghi might have led to the establishment of the village, some theories propose that the nuraghe of Su Bastione, with its foundations incorporated into a private property, could be one of the most significant. Other noteworthy nuraghi include Sa Zima, from which stones were taken to build the old prisons, and nuraghe de Iscalas, located near the kindergarten run by the Vincentian sisters. Unfortunately, few remnants of the mentioned nuraghi remain, except for Su Bastione, whose foundations are still visible and accessible through a private residence.
In the territory of Tresnuraghes, 22 nuraghi remains have been cataloged, scattered across various locations with diverse characteristics and sizes. There are simple structures, such as Nuraghe Porcos (found at the town's exit towards Cuglieri), as well as trilobed nuraghi like Teporo and Nani, along the road leading to San Marco. The nuraghe of Nani is particularly captivating as it retains a Tolos vault and an internal staircase that leads to the roof, offering a spectacular view of the rio Mannu.
Coastal Towers
Along the coasts of Tresnuraghes stand three coastal towers, built during the Aragonese period to defend Sardinia from Saracen fleet incursions. These towers, armed with cannons and manned by small garrisons, ceased their defensive function in 1842.
The most famous tower is located in Foghe, overlooking the mouth of the rio Mannu and controlling a vast stretch of sea, thus safeguarding the area from potential landings. Recently restored, it is easily reachable by taking the San Marco road, which leads to its base after about 9 kilometers. Another well-known tower is Columbargia, situated on the promontory of the same name, visible from the coastal location of Porto Alabe and accessible via a charming coastal path.
Among the towers of Tresnuraghes, Columbargia is unique for having an internal pillar to support the roof. Less well-known but equally intriguing is the tower of Ischia Ruggia, located in a less visible area from the main roads. This tower is approximately 7 kilometers from the fork in the road that leads to the tower of Foghe and can be easily accessed via an external stone staircase that has replaced the original wooden one.
The Royal Paper Mill, "Sa Frabica"
At the foot of San Marco hill, along the rio Mannu, lie the remains of the paper mill commissioned by King Vittorio Emanuele I. The work, which began in 1809, was never completed. Over the years, the structure, once highly valued, has suffered significant damage due to weather and vegetation, leading to numerous collapses that threaten its stability.
