Description
A stay in the past, immersed in nature, behind the Cinque Terre..

Castè is a very small medieval village of the region Liguria's hinterland, at the edge of the Park of the Cinque Terre. The small village dates back to the 15th century, and it is very close to the sea and the town La Spezia.

The Cinque Terre are easily accessible from La Spezia by train, by sea or by foot. Trekking fans can walk along the trail 01 which crosses Castè. We don't advice to use the car. In order to arrive from Castè to La Spezia, you will need a car to cover the distance of about 7 km.

From La Spezia you can easily reach by sea the most beautiful places of the Ligurian Riviera (Lerici, Tellaro, San Terenzo, Fiascherino, Portovenere and the island Palmaria).

The five apartments have been entirely restructured, trying to preserve the environments and the existing materials. The furnishing unites the most modern functionality with the respect and the taste of the local tradition. From the apartments you can enjoy a view over the village's antique square. The apartments consist of a living room with a sofa (which can be used as a bed), kitchenette, twin room and bathroom, TV and Wifi.

Our court is equipped with sunshades, tables, chairs and barbecue, and it is at the complete disposal of our guests; moreover, we periodically organize musical events.

Castè is a charming and tiny medieval village located in the Ligurian hinterland, not far from the famous Cinque Terre Park. This enchanting settlement, dating back to the 15th century, is just a few kilometers away from both the Cinque Terre and the city of La Spezia.

The Levante Riviera stretches along a long and narrow coastal strip, dominated by the Maritime Alps, reaching the border with France. Here, visitors can discover authentic coastal treasures like Portofino, Portovenere, and the renowned Cinque Terre, while the lively town of Sanremo can be found along the Ponente Riviera.

Thanks to the highway that departs from La Spezia, one can easily access the beautiful locations of Versilia, such as Marina di Massa, Forte dei Marmi, Marina di Pietrasanta, and Viareggio, as well as the charming towns of the Gulf of Tigullio, including Framura, Moneglia, Sestri Levante, Lavagna, Chiavari, Santa Margherita, and Portofino. Don't forget to also explore the historic art cities nearby, such as Pisa, Lucca, Florence, and Genoa.

Portofino, nestled in the Gulf of Tigullio between the Cinque Terre and Genoa, boasts the longest coastline in Liguria and is famous for its picturesque bay, located close to Santa Margherita Ligure and Rapallo.

Today, Genoa is not only home to Italy's main port but also an important exhibition center. Once a shining Maritime Republic that dominated the Tyrrhenian Sea, it now offers must-see attractions, including a famous aquarium that's perfect for families.

La Spezia, one of Italy's major ports and the second-largest city in Liguria, overlooks a magnificent gulf, providing breathtaking views of Lerici, San Terenzo, Portovenere, and the islands of Palmaria and Tino.

Portovenere is a captivating medieval seaside village characterized by its colorful houses and dominated by the ancient Church of San Pietro overlooking the sea. This place was beloved by the poet Shelley, who named a cave near the Lerici Strait after it. The village offers a stunning backdrop celebrated by poets and writers, with villas climbing the hillside overlooking the gulf. The brilliant waters promise an unforgettable stay, perfect for both relaxation and various water sports. The coastal towns, such as San Terenzo, Fiascherino, and Tellaro, add even more charm to the area.

For tourists, Monterosso, with its promenade and beach (the only one among the Cinque Terre), is especially suited for those seeking a bit of liveliness and nightlife; it complements the tranquility of Manarola and Corniglia perfectly. The picturesque narrow streets of the historic center are very charming, while in Fegina and along the waterfront, there are wider spaces and some cars.

For several years, Vernazza has been the main attraction of the Cinque Terre alongside Monterosso. The view is undoubtedly spectacular, whether arriving by sea or via the trails. The heart of the village is located in the square near the harbor, and during peak tourist seasons, the crowd can be a bit overwhelming, especially for those wishing to stay overnight.

Corniglia, on the other hand, is a very pleasant and tranquil place. Though a bit harder to reach due to its elevated position, it offers breathtaking and unique views from many points within the village.

Manarola is certainly the quietest of the five villages. This is partly due to its relatively recent discovery as a tourist destination and partly due to the understated nature of its residents, who are not inclined towards noise. The numerous short walks surrounding Manarola are delightful: relaxing and easily accessible to all. Don't miss the large illuminated nativity scene that occupies much of the hill of 'Collorà, visible during the Christmas season.

Riomaggiore is home to the headquarters of the Cinque Terre National Park, with vibrant promotional activities evident throughout the village. The upper part of the village features recent residential developments, while the characteristic narrow streets branching off from the main road and marina are among the most authentic in the Cinque Terre. The view from the marina, surrounded by tall tower-like houses, is an extraordinary sight, rendering it "impregnable" to the pirates that once roamed the Ligurian coasts. Be sure to take the opportunity to enjoy the panorama from the castle!
