Description
Il Gullo is located just a short distance from the pristine beaches of Capo Vaticano and a little over 5 km from Tropea. We are a family-run establishment with thirty years of experience, where you can experience the warmth of Calabrian hospitality.
Our accommodations, recently renovated in 2022, are spacious and bright, designed to ensure maximum comfort for our guests and to provide a pleasant stay. A large patio-solarium with a view of the Eolie Islands leads to the upper floor, where our two-room apartment (with a sea view) and studios (one with a small balcony overlooking the sea, and others with balconies overlooking the countryside) are located. There is also an internal parking area accessible via an automatic gate.
We recently (2025) equipped the facility with a Photovoltaic system and installed Air Conditioning in the apartments.

Additionally, we have two fully equipped two-room apartments available just a few hundred meters from the main building, in the area of Orsigliadi di Ricadi, characterized by complete tranquility (described in the photos as External)
Starting this year, in partnership with Holiday Houses Zaccanopoli, we are offering e-bike rental services.

After the Covid period, we decided to stop providing breakfast directly at our facility to preserve the artisanal quality and authenticity of our management. Instead, we have established convenient agreements with several friendly cafés nearby, where you can enjoy a great breakfast at your leisure.

Area seaside
The area where Gullo is located is part of the municipality of Ricadi/Capo Vaticano and consists of seven charming villages that still preserve their original urban layout, featuring a church and a central square. Summer evenings provide the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in local traditions and typical products, especially during the village festivals, notably the Onion Festival on August 13 and the ‘Nduja Festival on August 8, which take place in Ricadi and Spilinga respectively.
A highlight of the evening is the dance of the “Camijuzzu i Focu,” a unique fireworks display that celebrates the locals' victory over the Saracen invasion. Be sure to include a visit to the Belvedere del Faro (a still-operational military outpost), which offers breathtaking views over Praia i Focu or the stunning sunset over the mouth of Stromboli.
Six kilometers north of Ricadi lies the beautiful town of Tropea, known for its picturesque historic center filled with magnificent noble palaces and vibrant nightlife. Continuing another 25 kilometers north, you will arrive in Pizzo, another lovely village perched on a hill overlooking a stunning bay, where you must try the famous Tartufo or the must-have Nocciola Ripiena.
While the coastline is globally recognized as one of the most beautiful in the world, the Vibo Valentia hinterland is equally impressive. Leaving the sea, you can easily reach the Monte Poro plateau from Capo Vaticano, where you will find excellent agritourisms and farms offering delicious culinary products. About an hour's drive or ride will take you to the mountainous Serre region, characterized by a completely different landscape and home to the impressive Carthusian monastery: the Certosa di Serra San Bruno.
If our journey were to continue south from Ricadi, perhaps by train, be sure to visit the legendary Scilla and its Chianalea (the seaside village), where you must certify your Calabrian status by enjoying a swordfish sandwich. Afterward, head to Reggio Calabria to visit the Archaeological Museum, home of the Bronzes, and perhaps conclude your evening with a gelato or a granita while admiring Mount Etna and Sicily in the background.
