Description

The Gemma dei Sassi is situated in the heart of the Sassi of Matera, downtown area. It is, therefore, in a prime location, allowing guests staying there, to be able to walk to all the monuments and archaeological sites of the Sassi and the city of Matera. The Gem of the Sassi is a typical residence of tufa, on two levels, inhabited in the past by peasant parents and used in spaces below which stable and reserve typical barn of rural culture. It 'a striking structure that blends into its habitat, the modern and the past, history and culture concentrated in 140 square meters. at the gates of the Sasso Barisano. For its construction in tuff is naturally cool in summer and warm in those winter months.

The house, completely autonomous and independent, is newly furnished tastefully with care and attention. Services and Prices The four double / twin rooms are tastefully furnished, have en suite bathrooms in every room, central heating, air conditioning, television and safe. I stayed at this property with my wife for only one night, on August 27. The room was nice, welcoming and clean. Mr. Nicola welcomed us very well and also explained in detail how to visit Matera with or without a guide. We parked in front of the property. The town center is easily reachable. Breakfast was simple but varied. I'd say a nice experience even if short.

New accommodation with everything you need. The way to the city center was easy and fast. When you arrived a little later for breakfast, the owner had difficulty refilling. The next day everything was already weighed. Everything regarding breakfast was very basic.

The structure is very nice, well maintained, clean, conveniently located in the center and the manager is very welcoming. The two negative points are: 1. Limited availability of parking spaces, but this depends on the local administration. Given the amount of tourism, hoteliers should persuade the administration to activate parking spaces, even if paid, to allow tourists to park their vehicles in a more suitable and easy way. 2. The unavailability of the POS, for vague reasons, on the part of the structure put us in a lot of difficulty because we had to use almost all the cash we had brought just for emergency expenses. Tourists travel with little cash and this lack did not please us at all because we then had to look for an ATM from our credit institution. This is the reason for the 5 to the manager.

We stayed only one night at this property on our way back from a holiday spent in Salento. We found a very spacious, welcoming, and clean room. The breakfast was plentiful with both savory and sweet products. Mr. Nicola who welcomed us provided us with a wealth of details on how to visit the whole city. Excellent judgment for the room, sufficient, basic breakfast. The only problem is the cash payment (lack of POS for technical reasons). I would add the lack of invoice issuance, nor receipt of the so-called tourist tax. It might be professional bias, but I would say it can be improved in this respect.

Rooms in vico Torquato Tasso. New and clean structure. There is very little privacy in the two rooms because, one being a ground floor room and the other a loft room, you can hear everything that happens in one room from the other. The breakfast was embarrassing: very little choice and little privacy. I would like to mention Mr. Nicola, our host: kind, affable, and valuable for the advice he gave us.

Tutti i clienti sino ad oggi mi elogiano per la colazione, vedasi le recensioni su tutti i portali da Booking a Airb&b, da Google a Bed&Breakfast, perché offro tutti i prodotti freschi tipici locali sia salati (focacce classiche, alle patate, pane IGP di Matera) che dolci (cornetti pasticceria, trecce zuccherato di Matera, muffin), oltre a frutta, yogurt, fette, Nutella, confetture, succhi di ogni tipo, acqua, caffè, tisane, cappuccino ed altro. Inoltre abbiamo prodotti per i celiaci, senza lattosio, ed altro. La colazione non è un pranzo, una cena, inoltre si ricordi che ha pagato per la camera tripla solo € 79,00 incluso la colazione mentre come ben sa avrebbe pagato in altre strutture il doppio. La prossima volta prenoti un hotel pagando molto di più e vedrà se riceverà lo stesso trattamento riservatole da me. Mi scuso ma dovevo farle presente quanto sopra così la prossima volta prima di recensire una struttura ci pensi bene e non stia solo a criticare senza obiettività. Very welcoming structure, super clean and practically attached to the entrance of the Sasso Barisano. But the difference is made by Nicola and his wife. They illustrated paths and perfectly described the characteristics of the places and various monuments. Very comfortable and pleasant B&B. Having access to a fridge is really helpful and also the ability to make a cup of tea. Only small issue is car parking. Can be difficult as roads around B&B are full of residents cars therefore finding a car parking space can be tricky. Highly recommend.

Clean and strategically very convenient structure. Parking outside the door (along the street, not paid), but 5 minutes walk from the central V. Veneto square. Spacious room, nothing missing. The bathroom looks new, the shower is very large. Wifi works perfectly. Abundant and varied breakfast (including cappuccino and espresso coffee); free access to the refrigerator even during the day. Friendly manager, not only for hospitality. Provided us with very useful directions to optimize the visit to the city and suggestions for the best photo spots. Optimal location as it is very close to the center (you can reach it in a few minutes on foot) and with convenient parking for your car. I highly recommend it.

We stayed at this property for two nights. We really enjoyed it. Excellent breakfast, very clean and cozy rooms. Wi-Fi works well unlike some other hotels. The exterior leaves something to be desired, but this is not the fault of the managers. I recommend this property for a visit to the city of Matera.

We had a magnificent weekend in Matera and our stay at B&B La Gemma dei Sassi was very positive: recently restored structure, equipped with air conditioning and wifi, convenient free parking right in front of the building, pleasant 10-minute walk to reach the Sassi area and the center. Alina and Nicola manage the B&B with great care and courtesy: it is enough to say that they even helped us restart the car when we found it with a flat battery. We heartily recommend this property.

This Bed and Breakfast just outside the Sassi of Matera was a real discovery. Besides being very nice, clean, and brand new, it has the kindest, most helpful, and caring hosts we have ever found! We give them many compliments!
