Description
Located in Marittima, the B&B Trappitu dei Settimi boasts an ideal position for discovering the Salento region and its most enchanting seaside destinations. During the summer season, it is well-connected thanks to the public bus services in Salento, allowing easy access to Otranto, Santa Cesarea Terme, Castro, Santa Maria di Leuca, and Gallipoli. Driving is also straightforward via the state road 16, which links Lecce to Santa Maria di Leuca, with an exit near Maglie towards Poggiardo. For those traveling by train, the SudEst railway stops at Spongano, which is approximately three kilometers from the establishment. The Brindisi airport is about an hour away, and for guests arriving by air or train, there is a shuttle service to and from Brindisi and Lecce.
The property welcomes guests in a setting that blends comfort with historical charm. The six rooms, each with a private bathroom, overlook spaces designed for relaxation and socializing. The common room, furnished with sofas and armchairs, provides a pleasant area for rest and shared moments, with tables arranged around an ancient millstone that becomes a focal point during breakfast, subtly evoking the area's origins.
Outside, a portico leading to the rooms and the common area opens up to a shaded pergola adorned with climbing vines, creating a cool and captivating atmosphere. Here, among cozy seating arrangements, guests can enjoy peaceful moments immersed in an authentic setting, where Salento tradition is reflected through stone, light, and intricate details. The hospitality stems from a desire to make every guest feel like part of a living story, filled with culture, simplicity, and warm human connection.

Breakfast
Among the features that define our hospitality, the breakfast we offer stands out as both varied and plentiful, primarily made with high-quality ingredients that are characteristic of Salento cuisine and sourced from our family farm.
Our breakfasts include focaccias, pizzas, and friselline topped with fresh garden produce such as tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, and zucchini, along with seasonal fruits and an array of desserts like tarts, doughnuts, croissants, and pasticciotti. We also provide a selection of beverages, including juices, coffee, tea, and milk. All of this is lovingly prepared by my wife, who is dedicated to introducing our guests to the unique products and flavors of Salento.

As a retired teacher who has always lived in Marittima, a small village on the Adriatic coast, and having a house that holds the history of my family, I decided to transform it into a hospitality and museum space. This allows me to fulfill two of my secret desires: to restore a place that is significant to my memories and to offer a typical home of my region to those who wish to visit Salento.
Because I feel a deep nostalgia for my traditions and the history of my village, I approach this experience with a strong emotional connection. I aim to share the charm and allure of this reality with my guests from various perspectives, while staying true to the values of hospitality and warmth that have always defined my community.

Area
The area is defined by the typical Salento landscape, featuring low houses, some of which rise only to the first floor, all unified by the white lime color that coats their walls, embodying a perfect Mediterranean style.
Surrounding this are fields divided into small plots, marked along the edges by dry-stone walls, primarily used for olive cultivation. Many of these olive trees are ancient and striking, with their gnarled and hollow trunks making them true natural monuments.
The land gently slopes down towards the sea, just a few hundred meters from the inhabited center. The low and rugged coastline is characterized by a series of small bays and natural inlets that allow for comfortable swimming during the summer season, where one can relax in the sun on the flat, structured cliffs, resembling natural lounging areas.

Structure exactly corresponds to what is seen in the photos. The location is strategic as it is not by the sea, but convenient for getting around without the nightmare of parking upon return. The place is peaceful and equipped with a magnificent ivy pergola where you can have breakfast every morning. The owners are exquisite people, Mirella is a perfect host. I highly recommend it.
