Description
Situated in one of the highest parts of the Murgia plateau, it is a remarkable example of a traditional 17th Century dwelling complex which has survived to this day perfectly preserved.
This has led the structure to be declared a heritage site by the Apulian branch of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
Masseria Serralta consists of four Trulli apartments and a central tower – known as a Pignon – with a sloping roof. The structure has been expertly restored by the renowned expert stone-masons of the Itria Valley.
Looking onto the charming village of Locorotondo, the guesthouse sits amidst the Apulian countryside – a truly rural landscape which is a mosaic of fields bordered by dry stone walls. You will be ideally positioned between the Baroque town of Martina Franca and the Adriatic Coast, an area which sees many internationally important cultural events take place throughout the year.
In order to respect the original layout, the B&B is set up for a small number of guests. You will stay in a real trullo, just like in old times!
The homely charming atmosphere of this stone settlement will recall ancient customs of simple living and hospitality, making it the perfect place to relax, caressed by the cooling breeze of the hill.

In the sweet breakfast there is always a homemade dessert, jams with fruit from our trees, a wide selection of biscuits, homemade white yogurt, cereals, toasted bread and fruit juices.
In the savory breakfast there are local cold cuts (in particular the capocollo from nearby Martina Franca), a selection of fresh cheeses that changes every day, eggs, tomato friselle and fresh vegetables.
In addition to the classic hot drinks that are freshly prepared and served.
On request, products are served for those with particular food intolerances such as gluten or lactose, but always with regard to authenticity and freshness.

Dear Arjan, we really thank you for being our guest with your family and we are glad that you appreciated our Masseria and its peaceful atmosphere. I am just surprised that you valuated our breakfast only 8 when we have a selection of salty and sweet daily fresh homemade products. As an intimate situation of only 11 guests of course we can't give such a variety as an hotel's buffet, but we think that we already give plenty of choice with also eggs cooked at the moment every morning, but it would be helpful to have new suggestion to improve. Regarding the dinner, we are really sorry we couldn't organize it, but for the future I would like to be clear about our tasting menù dinners: we are classified as Bed&Breakfast so our mainly job is to give as services breakfast and an accomodation in our traditional and fine restored trulli with beautiful surroundings and a panoramic pool to chill. We don't have a restaurant on site, it s specifically written everywhere included in the welcome email, the dinner is something we can organize depending on the availability of my mum just during summer time when she lives nearby our Masseria, and depending on the request of a minimum of guests and with a certain advance notice to give us the possibility to organize ourselves. We can manage just one dinner per week or on Tuesday or on Friday, so it can not be an obligation in the case of guests that stay just 2 or 3 nights if that night specifically we are not able to organize it as in this case. So again, we are very sorry for the misunderstanding and that we couldn't satisfy your request, but under some family circumstances my mum wasn't available Friday evening and we always hope that the guests can understand that it's not a regular service. Dear Carol, it has been a pleasure to host you and your friends even if for few days. I hoped you could relax more, but in a short time was not possible, but I am glad that you appreciated our accomodation. When we decided 15 years ago to open the Masseria as Bed&Breakfast, we knew that we couldn't make everyone statisfied, but we put all our efforts to choose the best materials and top quality furniture, so the mattresses are orthopedic, not too much soft, not too much hard, to try to make everyone happy, but of course it's a personal opinion that can not meet all at once expectations of different guests. I really hope to host you in another occasion, my warmest regards Marta & the Staff.


Dear Janet, thanks for being our guest with your family and for appreciating our Masseria settled in the countryside of the charming village of Locorotondo. Regarding the change of towels, we respect the regional provisions regarding accommodations in B&B with the change of towels every 3 nights, but we also let the guests free to ask the change whenever they want just leaving them on the floor as we tide the suite every day. The bath towels are of a refined quality from a famous weaving mill in the South of Puglia, so much so that guests often ask us where they can buy them. They are made in a honeycomb pattern to dry very well and always remain soft. With the sun we have and an entire area where we can hang them out to dry in less than half an hour, we have never had any problems. Would have been kind if you only asked for them! Gentilissimo Dott. Nunziata, la ringrazio per averci lasciato il suo feedback non motivato dal alcun commento a margine, che però mi dà l'occasione di chiarire alcuni punti. Lavoriamo da quasi 15 anni sul territorio dopo aver recuperato un bene storico culturale di una certo valore che comporta spese e impegno di manutenzione ordinaria e straordinaria costanti e ragguardevoli. Siamo classificati come Bed&Breakfast e abbiamo a disposizione 4 suite che curiamo in ogni dettaglio amorevolmente ogni giorno, questo non significa che possiamo offrire servizi da Hotel quali quelli che Lei ha richiesto durante il suo breve soggiorno. La colazione che lei ha valutato solo con una misera sufficienza è quella di cui lei ha usufruito in modo più ampio scegliendo tutta la nostra selezione sia dolce che salata, tutti prodotti freschi e fatti in casa, dalle marmellate, ai dolci, allo yogurth, per finire con uova cucinate al momento che in poche strutture vengono offerti. Abbiamo optato per un menù a la carte su cui lasciamo ampia scelta, ma almeno ci evita lo spreco di esporre per pochi ospiti cibo per più ore che verrà immancabilmente buttato perchè non consumato, una scelta che lascia contenta la quasi totalità dei nostri ospiti che oggigiorno sono più attenti alla sostenibilità, ma evidentemente non lei. Ha più volte insistito sia via messaggio che al momento del check-out per uno sconto convinto di aver visto una tariffa più bassa, quando quella che le è stata proposta dagli altri portali di cui lei parlava era la tariffa della Bassa Stagione (sarà stato sicuramente "prezzo a partire da"), ma lei ha soggiornato ad Agosto che per noi è ancora Alta Stagione e ci distinguiamo dai nostri competitor di zona fornendo dei servizi allo stesso livello ma dai costi più contenuti. Un ambiente intimo, con pochi ospiti, con a disposizione una piscina esterna ampia con vista su tutta la Valle e servizi annessi. Mi sono messa a disposizione rispondendo puntualmente e prontamente a tutte le sue richieste, a qualsiasi ora, anche al di fuori degli orari che le avevo comunicato in cui sono a disposizione di persona, se ha il riguardo di leggere tutte le recensioni e valutazioni lasciate dai precedenti ospiti non c'è persona che non abbia apprezzato la mia persona e la mia disponibilità, ma evidentemente da me si aspettava un ulteriore trattamento in più che pensa di non aver ricevuto. Nonostante il suo messaggio privato di presentazione vorrei chiarire che io tratto indistintamente tutti allo stesso modo, tanto da averle lasciato a disposizione la camera finchè abbiamo potuto oltre l'orario di check-out e la ringrazio ancora per essere andato via senza neanche salutare la padrona di casa presso cui era ospite. Non posso certo dire che sarà un piacere riaccoglierla con la sua Signora, cordialmente Marta.
