The tourist accommodation "House Salento Central Rooms" is located 25 km from Gallipoli and 25 km from Santa Maria di Leuca, in the heart of the municipality of Ugento (Torre San Giovanni). This charming town is approximately 100 km from Brindisi Airport, 60 km from the Lecce train station, and just 5 km from the local station.
The owner, Mariella, had the idea to convert her seaside home into a tourist rental and decided to renovate it to accommodate guests. The property features three cozy rooms with double beds, named "Lu Sule," "Lu Mare," and "Lu Jentu." The building is centrally located, and the rooms, which are modern and tastefully decorated, are situated between the first and second floors, each with its own unique features.
Room number 1, "Lu Sule," is a triple room that offers a stunning view of the sunrise from a charming little balcony. The second room, "Lu Jentu," is a double room with shared bathroom, perfect for those who enjoy being caressed by a fresh sea breeze. Finally, the third room, "Lu Mare," boasts a balcony with panoramic sea views and a private bathroom, ideal for those wishing to relax amidst the beauty of the landscape.
The property is open year-round from March 30 to October 30. Guests can make reservations at any time of the year, and check-in is available from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM; please vacate the room by 9:30 AM on the day of departure.
Every morning, guests can enjoy breakfast (by reservation) at a café located just 100 meters away. Free parking is available on the street, but guests can reserve a parking spot about 300 meters away for €5.00 per day.

Torre San Giovanni has an ancient history that is at least as old as the city of which it has recently become a district, having always been a seaside location. Everything suggests that this maritime landing place held strategic significance since the times of the Messapian town of Ozan (renamed Uxentum by the Romans and later Ugento).
The area of Torre San Giovanni is quite extensive and diverse. Besides the inhabited region, which is focused around the Tower and stretches from the Mare Verde area in the north to the beginning of the Fontanelle area in the south, there are significant historical and archaeological sites (the ancient remains in the Pazze area) as well as natural sites (the important municipal pine forest). Additionally, similar to the Ugento area, there are vast agricultural lands and grazing fields.
Particularly, most of the drainage basins and their associated channels that helped eliminate malaria are located in Torre San Giovanni. Nonetheless, the crystal-clear waters of Torre San Giovanni have been awarded the Blue Flag by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) three times around the 1990s.
The permanent population (not tied to seasonal tourism) has experienced fluctuating fortunes. While it is certainly far from the numbers of a proper town, it is also sufficient to render the label "marina" inadequate. For a long time, residents have advocated for services to be provided in Torre San Giovanni to make it fully accessible even during the winter months.
Due to the absence of schools, a post office, and a stable medical facility (in the last two cases, there is a postal point and an emergency room, but they are only open during the summer), the marina was completely reliant on Ugento for even the most basic needs. Therefore, the local residents formed an association, and in 2005, they obtained recognition as a district, which should allow Torre San Giovanni to be fully recognized as a livable area regardless of the season.
However, the name "Marina di Ugento" continues to characterize the area in common language, making the name Torre San Giovanni not widely known.
