Description
The residence was born from the renovation and recovery of a typical casina of the Itria valley, which dates back to 1928, and was entirely built out of stone using a similar technique to the one used to build the trulli. The house originally consisted of only three rooms: the entrance hall, a kitchen on the left with a large fireplace and a bedroom on the right. It was also equipped with an underlying cellar and, below that, a cistern of water which is said to be the greatest in the district.

Rainwater, a precious resource for a dry land like ours, was conducted from the terrace provided with a rounded roof connected to the cistern through a canal system. The water was then drawn from the cistern with an iron bucket. This canal system and the cistern are still in use nowadays to irrigate the lawn and all the greenery that surrounds you.

"We wanted to give new life to our home by preserving its original integrity and beauty, respecting the territory and its identity. "
Stone, lime and iron have been precious materials in the hands of skilled local craftsmen, who have managed to combine respect for tradition with the most modern technologies in order to offer our guests a high level of comfort.

A place where the sky is turquoise..

the earth is red, the villages are made of white lime..a place where you will discover that all the colors are more alive..in a red and sunny land, rich of treasures of nature, history, traditions, food and sounds.

Marinelli, a village of peace in the Valle d'Itria
In the picturesque district of Marinelli, a district of Cisternino, nestled among the trulli in the heart of the Itria Valley in Puglia, Dimora "San Quirico" is located in proximity of the square of the district. Despite being very central, it enjoys the widest privacy and tranquility. It is your privileged place of relaxation where you will be welcomed and pampered.

The borgo of Marinelli
Marinelli seems to have come out of a tale. There are only two streets, a white central square framed by trulli with a large fragno that overshadows it on one side, a statue of Father Francesco Convertini, a tiny church where mass is still held every Sunday, a bar and a shop. However, despite being located very close to the square of the "oak", as it is commonly known, our Dimora still enjoys its privacy.

The privileged position in the territory of Cisternino, one of the most suggestive among the "Most Beautiful Villages of Italy", gives you the opportunity of a relaxing and comfortable stay among the architectural beauties of the trulli and the enchanting panorama of the Valle d'Itria. Furthermore, it allows you, within a few kilometers to visit the most enchanting places in the region.

FROM MARINELLI TO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES IN APULIA

Begin by strolling through the small streets of the old village of CISTERNINO, just a couple of kilometers away. Walk through the alleys, the beautiful white houses and the balconies filled with flowers, lookout from the numerous panoramic viewpoints to admire the Itria Valley with its trulli. At the end of the walk, after some shopping and an aperitivo, have something to eat in one of the many butcher shops that serve meat cooked in the traditional “fornello” and the classic “bombette”. Just 20 minutes away by car you can visit LOCOROTONDO, its beautiful alleys and its white houses with their particular roofs called “cummerse”. All the roofs are placed together to create a sort of circle that embraces the old town, forming a “round place”, which is the literal meaning of the town’s name (Locorotondo = “loco” means “place” and “tondo” means “round”). From Locorotondo you can go to MARTINA FRANCA where you can admire its baroque old town, starting from the “Palazzo Ducale” (the Ducal Palace) which is used today as the town’s city hall. Walk through the white streets, among the many churches and stately buildings, until you reach the monumental Basilica of St. Martin and the Plebiscito square. The “white city” of OSTUNI overlooks the hill and looks out on the Adriatic Sea, you have to visit its beautiful old town. ALBEROBELLO, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a fairytale-like town made of TRULLI. Its beauty is going to take your breath away. Don’t forget to visit the underground caves in CASTELLANA. Descend into the labyrinth cave system where you can admire stalactites and stalagmites that come together drop after drop in the slow flow of time. If you have the time, we suggest you participate to the longer itinerary (circa 3 km) that leads you to the spectacular white cave. Proceeding down from the hills towards the sea, you will find the Zoosafari in FASANO, Italy’s biggest faunal park, which we suggest to visit if you love animals. Continuing from Fasano you’ll arrive at MONOPOLI, one of the most active and densely populated harbors of the region. Its characteristic early-medieval old town and the remains of a Messapian settlement already fortified in the 5th century BC, overlook the Adriatic Sea and are surrounded by high walls. In MONOPOLI we suggest to visit the Concattedrale of the Madonna from the Madia, the Castle of Charles V and the numerous other churches, convents and stately buildings. Don’t forget to visit the beautiful POLIGNANO A MARE, where the oldest part of the town stands on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Of great naturalistic interest are its sea caves and historically important is the old town and the remains of the Roman domination. Among the latter the bridge of the Via Traiana, which is still viable.
