Description

Masseria Borgo del Gallo is located just a few kilometers away from S. Maria di Leuca and was created from the renovation of old farmhouses that were used for agricultural purposes: stables, chicken coops, and small homes that, during the summer, housed peasant families who moved to the countryside to collect tobacco and manage and live closely with the "land", the only source of income for entire families.

The farmhouses have been carefully restored in full respect of the typical materials of the lower Salento.

Our project stems from a dream, that of my father, and his passion for all those objects that, despite their almost zero economic value, carry a unique historical wealth.

We wanted to maintain, and in some ways, recreate an atmosphere that would take us back in time, when as children we would visit our grandparents who moved to the countryside during the summer to take care of their land.

From this idea, we began the recovery work of what was left of this small farm, we cleaned up the area, "repopulated" the garden with typical Mediterranean scrub plants, and gave new life to a place that had been abandoned.

Love, commitment, and the desire to make a dream come true have led after years of sacrifice to what Borgo del Gallo is today.

We hope that you can fully enjoy the peace and tranquility that is felt in the farm, its scents, its sounds.. and also its flavors.

We, as the Salento tradition requires, will do our best to make you feel at home and make your stay enjoyable and interesting.

Our expectations regarding the accommodation (which were already high) have been exceeded. An island in the green, created with great love for detail, an oasis of tranquility. The kind soul and owner of the accommodation (Laila), her dear father, and all the people around Borgo del Gallo made our vacation (12 days) unforgettable. Laila fulfills every achievable wish, helps with every problem, and has greatly supported us in planning our tours with the rental car and in reserving restaurants for dinner. The breakfast was unique, personalized, and varied, characterized by traditional Apulian cuisine. We also enjoyed the many wonderful conversations with Laila (who speaks perfect English), where we all had a lot of fun. Everything that you receive as a guest at Borgo del Gallo comes from the heart; you can feel it in this accommodation from the first to the last minute. We four can only say "Thank you" once again and wish all the best.

We had a great time, very relaxing. It is a quiet and charming place. The breakfasts were exceptional and even with the lactose-free constraint, Laila prepared extremely good and varied lunches for us. Every day we discovered new flavors with local products and coming from their garden. The room was very clean. Laila and her parents are very kind and warm. We strongly recommend staying in this B&B if you are in the area.

Laila is so passionate, if it's not about the food she prepares, it's about which of the local places to visit. Laila's excellent English made our morning interrogation an essential part of our daily planning ❤️. Our 3-day stay at Borgo del Gallo was so enjoyable that we extended it twice! Breakfast is presented quite elegantly each day. Homemade bread, locally produced food topped with homemade honey, fruits, and other typical Italian herbs 🍇 Daily homemade cake, biscuits, and yes, again, homemade jams. A truly operatic breakfast! Something to look forward to every morning. Exploring her food fantasy has been a highlight of our trip. 5 clean and spacious rooms. Set away from the breakfast area, in this calm and quiet setting. All rooms have fridges, en-suite with shower, sofa, walking cupboard, and modern A/C. The 5th room was a little smaller but also a little more romantic ❤️. Her family renovated this farmhouse in '98 and created this exceptional B&B, which Laila now manages, but in the background is her father, his small dogs, all taking care of the business. Southern Italy in June is truly a mixture of different experiences. With so many Italian holiday tourists, we didn't hear any loud Europeans, which was a blessing. Living in Sweden, we often think basic English is normal, but be prepared to speak some 🇮🇹. We were truly blown away by the level of attention and sincerity of this B&B.

Laila and her father Annibale have created a small paradise in the Salento hinterland next to Tricase. Their farmhouse is an oasis of peace and tranquility, where they have managed to recreate an environment where it is possible to completely disconnect from the thoughts and worries of everyday life. The rooms are very beautiful, simple and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts prepared by Laila are the cherry on top, absolutely amazing and with different dishes every day. Our stay was enchanting, one of the most beautiful we can remember.

Laila is really good and professional, the place is very beautiful, well-kept and fully respects the context in which it is located. Super cleanliness and the flagship is breakfast with all km0 products prepared in a superb way by her. If you are passing by or want to plan your vacation in southern Salento, it's really worth going there.

At the Borgo del Gallo, you breathe the air of home even if you've driven nine hours. Oasis of peace and serenity, the greenery and its scents, hens, birds, and little dogs accompany you throughout your stay. Upon arrival, you are greeted by Laila, the cornerstone of the Borgo, a simple and special person always ready to help and suggest the best of the territory. With skill and passion, she prepares extraordinary breakfasts every day that the heart and palate will never forget. The parents Ada and Annibale, fundamental figures, generously share with guests stories and traditions of the place. We couldn't ask for more, everything exceeded our expectations. The B&B is ideally located to explore the south from Lecce to Leuca. Laila is a wonderful hostess who takes care of her guests with passion. She provides excellent tips for excursions and restaurant recommendations and always helps with bookings. Thank you for a wonderful week! Breakfast is freshly prepared daily by Laila. She uses only fresh and organic ingredients, often from her own garden. She serves fresh fruit, homemade bread and cakes, and homemade jams. Also yogurt with changing toppings. Simply great! There's always an explanation about the ingredients.

The definition of hospitality! We stayed here for about a week at the beginning of July. Excellent Bed and Breakfast, very well-kept and cute - strategically located to explore the entire southern Salento. The structure is surrounded by the countryside and this alone is detoxifying. Laila is very attentive to her guests and an excellent promoter of the natural and culinary beauties of the territory. It was our first experience at Borgo del Gallo and it definitely won't be the last. The Borgo is beautiful, cared for with love and passion by Laila and her family. The rooms are enchanting, equipped with everything necessary and impeccably clean. Laila is attentive to her guests, caring without being intrusive and available to advise and meet everyone's needs. There are not enough words to praise the breakfasts! In the twelve days we stayed, we never ate the same things twice. Exceptional products mixed with skill by Laila's wise hands and seasoned with her passion for her land. I'm not sure if you eat well everywhere in Salento, but at Borgo del Gallo you always eat well! But besides the beauty of the place and the goodness of the food, there is something else that Borgo del Gallo offers: TIME. It gives that dimension in which to retreat to relax, reflect, admire, rest. It was the first vacation where we returned regenerated in body and spirit, ready to leave again. Thank you! If you are reading this review, I can only invite you to stop thinking and book. Borgo del Gallo is the place you are looking for: - Stunning, reserved and comfortable setting to reach, away from lights and noises in a small corner of paradise; - The location is very central, from here you can visit all of Salento; - Exceptional cleanliness, very tidy and fragrant rooms; - Laila (the owner) is even better than the best you could hope to find; - The breakfast alone would be worth the price of the room, for the variety, quality, and choice of ingredients (for 4 days we kept the leftovers in the bag kindly provided by the owner and never had to have lunch).

There are no words that can do justice to the wonderful stay at Borgo del Gallo. Starry nights in total silence, nature and peace in a perfect harmony, a typical structure deeply imbued with history and tradition. But the two true gems are the breakfast (never has any b&b I've tried managed to compete in this regard) excessively delicious and homemade... and the owner Laila. Helpful, very kind, always present and always ready to suggest wonderful places to visit or where to have dinner. Truly a beautiful person. We will definitely return.

If you wish to spend your holidays surrounded by greenery, with a wonderful landscape and sea, in complete tranquility and serenity, you have chosen the right place. The farmhouse is delightful and very well-kept, made so by the owner Laila who puts love and passion into her work. A wonderful and very kind person, attentive to details in making her customers feel like both guests and as if they were at home. The breakfast is extraordinary, full of traditions and different every day. Delicious cakes, naturally made by Laila, white yogurt with myrtle juice, honey, cereals, grape and pear jam, rum, cakes and savory sandwiches filled with capocollo, mozzarella, ricotta, eggplant parmigiana, and sun-dried tomatoes, pieces of fruit with mint leaves to add a touch of freshness, all strictly locally sourced! And what can I say about Laila's explanation of each breakfast, just hearing her speak made your mouth water! I left with tears in my eyes, because the warmth, the politeness, and the homely scent that I found in this enchanted place have stayed in my heart. I will come back Laila, I promise!

We couldn't have had a better stay. The peace, tranquility, and nature in which the structure is immersed provide pleasant moments. Laila pampered us from the first day, every evening we fell asleep thinking about the super breakfasts she would prepare for us, all absolutely made by her with excellent quality products at zero kilometers. Excellent location to reach the Adriatic and Ionian coasts (to choose daily seaside destinations also based on the wind). The B&B is quiet and very clean. We felt very comfortable and at ease; we really enjoyed a nice holiday! Charming place immersed in the greenery. The rooms are spacious and also have a walk-in closet. The bathroom is large and equipped with courtesy products and a hairdryer. Laila is attentive to every need of her guests and knows how to pamper them starting from the fantastic breakfasts. Every morning there are cakes, cookies, and jams made by her with the products from her orchard and garden, as well as fresh fruit, yogurt, and filled pizzas. All excellent. Exceptional advice on restaurants. To brighten the stay, there are also her very sweet little dogs. Heartfelt thanks to Laila and her family. We will definitely be back.

First time in Salento, I spent a truly relaxing and enjoyable week. The location of the property allows you to quickly reach the sea and all the most important tourist locations. Laila was precious for her advice on what to visit and where to take magnificent baths in the crystal clear waters of the two seas. I hope to be able to return soon.

Magnificent structure and fantastic manager. They welcomed us like we have never been welcomed in our life. Laila showed us on the map everything there was to visit in Salento and based on where we were, she advised us on where to have dinner. The breakfast, always prepared by her, was delicious and plentiful. She pampered us like no other B&B has done with us. If I had to go back to Salento, I would definitely return here.
