What are the origins of the town of Molveno.
Situated on the shores of the lake of the same name in western Trentino, it lies at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites and the Paganella massif, at the eastern end of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park.
The park, the lake and the privileged access to the peaks of the Brenta Dolomites have made it a renowned tourist resort for more than a century.
Illustrious guests have included King Albert I of Belgium, the poet Antonio Fogazzaro, the engineer and explorer Umberto Nobile, and the writer Alberto Moravia.
The Italian Touring Club awarded the resort of Molveno the Orange Flag for the quality of its hospitality and tourist services.
The 'precious pearl in a most precious casket', as the poet Fogazzaro called it, owes much of its charm to the natural setting that surrounds it: to the west rises the central chain of the Brenta Group (Campanil Bas, Croz dell'Altissimo, Sfulmini,
Cima Tosa) and to the south-east the massif of Mount Gazza and Paganella.
