Description

Venice-BB-Venezia is a small and comfortable B&B located on the second floor of a historic 15th century building in the very center of Venice, where you will experience an authentic Venetian lifestyle in the true spirit of bed and breakfast.

Nestled in a quiet garden, Venice-BB-Venezia is located in the Cannaregio sestiere, between the Ponte delle Guglie (Spires Bridge), the famous Casinò and the Ghetto vecchio (old Jewish Ghetto), a short walk to Ponte di Rialto (Rialto Bridge) and Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square), and in close proximity to a colourful green market.

We can be easily reached from Venice's main arrival terminal: train station (Santa Lucia), bus station (Piazzale Roma) or car parking (Tronchetto), both being just a few minutes away. From the main airport (Marco Polo) you can reach us very easily by water bus or bus.

Recently renovated according to bio-construction criteria, Venice-BB-Venezia is conveniently situated between the Ponte delle Guglie and the ancient Jewish Ghetto, close to the famous Venice Casino. It is a 15-minute walk from the Rialto Bridge and 20 minutes from St. Mark's Square, not far from a lively fruit market but still in the absolute tranquility of a rare garden.

The host was helpful and he showed me around the city, which was a great experience. The price of the apartment was 615 euros including city tax and cleaning fee, but the host asked me to pay an additional 21.77 euros for his credit card fee, which was completely out of my responsibility.\n\nI could have chosen to go to the police to resolve the matter, but since I was a young woman traveling alone and the host had the keys to the apartment, I paid for my personal safety when I shouldn't have to. (He said to me: “why you’re so beautiful”, when I did the check-in.) \n\nPerhaps the host thought he was doing his best to meet my needs, but during my stay, he entered the apartment, knocked on the door and demanded cash from me. This behavior made me anxious and scared. On the last day, one hour before the check-out deadline, the host still came to the apartment and I had to leave as soon as possible.\n\nI understand that nothing is free in Venice. As a thank you to my host for showing me around the city, I paid for his wine and snacks. But I don't understand why I have to pay for his own credit card fee? Why do I have to pay an additional 21.77 euros when he has already indicated the price online and I placed the order according to the price? Why do I have to pay an additional €21.77 for him that is not my responsibility?

Thank you so much for the short but wonderful stay! The host was kind and trustworthy. There was no elevator, only stairs, so it was a bit difficult carrying large luggage, but the host kindly helped me out. If you ever come to Japan, let me know! We will be your guide.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Venice-BB-Venezia. Alessandro was a wonderful host who gave us many great restaurant recommendations for Venice, Murano, and Burano, based on our personal preferences. He was very friendly and made us feel right at home. Sharing the bathroom with another family was fine for the most part, although there were a couple of times when we had to wait over an hour for our turn.

Alessandro was a wonderful host! He is easy to communicate with and very helpful with providing recommendations and directions. The property is located in my ideal neighborhood - not the main tourist area and instead more residential. I stayed in the deluxe room which provided plenty of space and amenities (dresser, chair, functioning window, etc.). Shower was perfect water pressure and hot. Coffee and tea, with Venetian cookies were provided. Close to Santa Lucia train station and also the water bus stations to Murano. Wonderful, would stay again!

I stayed at Venice-BB the second time. It is a lovely property in a side alley with a very picturesque kitchen. When making coffee, you are looking out the window through the leaves of fig trees over a small courtyard. Located near the Ghetto on the main path from the nearby station (max 10 minutes walk) all the way to San Marco, the B&B is both convenient but also a relaxing retreat. Alessandro is a great and friendly host with good knowledge of recommended restaurants in the area.

10/10 isn't high enough for Alessandro, he was the best host we've ever had. Friendly, accommodating, and always a message away if we needed anything. He's great for recommending restaurants and will even make a booking for you if you want! The first night we got there, he had a map of Venice and marked all the places he thought we'd like. He even took us out on his fishing boat for a tour of the canals one evening. The apartment is lovely- it's a little outside of the very centre of Venice, but we thought that was ideal because it was an easy walk to all the main spots but still quiet. If we ever return to Venice (and I hope we will!) we'll definitely be booking this place again.

Just having the chance to go was exciting in this period, I guarantee you that the house is very beautiful, well-kept and clean, in a perfect location 5 minutes walk from the station and 15 from Piazza San Marco. Everything is perfect for a family like us with three young children. The house has all the amenities, there is also the use of the kitchen which is always useful, even for a herbal tea and a moment of relaxation. Alessandro is an exceptional person, more of a friend than an owner. He gives advice of all kinds, he cares about making you experience Venice at its best and his boat tour is a dream. My children already want to come back and we will definitely do it. Highly recommended. Thank you Alessandro.

My husband and I stayed here during our first three nights in Italy. Alessandro's B&B was my favorite in Italy. He offered us wine and a snack when we arrived. He gave us a map and circled good restaurants to go to. His breakfasts are delicious. Egg frittata, lettuce, mozzarella and tomato sandwiches on crispy bread, fruit, fruit tarts, coffee, fresh-squeezed blood orange juice, peach juice, the list goes on and on. He really finds an interest in everyone. He likes learning new English words. Yes, you share a bathroom, but don't let that deter you. Everyone is an adult and during our stay, we never had a problem. Alessandro, we will always remember your kind hospitality and warm interest in us. Thank you so much!

True B&B, equipped with the features that a traveler interested in authentic Venetian hospitality can find, outside the schematic and cold standards of the structures managed by foreign hoteliers that abound in Venice. It's worth appreciating the variety of the buffet, the customization of the service, the atmosphere of the kitchen and room, the manager's ability to anticipate specific customer needs.\n\nThere are two rooms available with a shared bathroom (this is how B&Bs were born); nevertheless, the level of privacy is optimal, and the tranquility during the stay was supreme.\n\nThe room was comfortable and spacious, the furnishings very original and in line with the style of the structure, very comfortable mattress and bed frame, high level of cleanliness.\n\nWe will gladly return with my husband and my son.

June 2017. This is the second time my husband and I stayed here. The location is wonderful, mainly because it’s not near the tourist traps, but close to many restaurants and shops and wonderful churches etc. St Marks Square and Doges Palace are still very easy to get to by boat. We love this place because Alessandro is so helpful, and a great host. He is lovely to talk to and is keen to talk about the real Venice and find out about your culture too. Alessandro’s English is very, very good. You share breakfast with the other guests who are like-minded.\n\nI highly recommend to slow travellers and people who want a truly Venetian cultural experience. It is not a swish hotel and you share a bathroom.\n\nThere is no lift and so walk up three flights of stairs. Breakfast is fantastic.\n\nHi Alessandro. Sorry for delayed review. Small structure, but cozy and absolutely clean, a few steps from Venice Santa Lucia station and strategically located to visit the entire city without any problems.\n\nAlessandro is an affable and super welcoming host, he doesn't skimp on advice on where to eat and what to see, and every morning he provides you with a plentiful and by no means obvious breakfast.\n\nExcept for the shared bathroom, I can't find any significant flaws.\n\nIf you're not looking for a charming or high-level structure, Alessandro's B&B is the ideal choice.

We stayed for 3 nights at Alessandro's apartment for my husband's birthday and everything was perfect! The location is in the center, not the very touristic one and that's what we searched for; the host was friendly and helpful about good addresses, the breakfast was abundant and delicious (special attention for the Italian sandwiches); the bedroom was comfortable and calm, etc etc. In short, this bed & breakfast was one of the keys to our good memories of our first visit to Venice! We recommend Alessandro's place for everybody who's searching for personalized reception.

I could write a thousand things, but none could match the feeling you get in person when being there! I will try to describe this Bed & Breakfast anyway, where it's hard to call it that as staying in this establishment is more like being guests at a friend's, indeed the owner Alessandro fully deserves this attribute. Let's start by saying that the location is very strategic, both to arrive, move around Venice and for the return (airport or station). But for any other tips on the place, I leave it to Alessandro, who will advise you on anything you want to do, eat, visit, and buy! He is the guarantee of this review. His breakfasts, I will miss them! I repeat, you don't feel like you're in a Bed & Breakfast but at a friend's house! Do I recommend it? We had an amazing stay! Alessandro was the perfect host; he greeted us upon arrival, told us the ins and outs of the B&B along with the area and had scrumptious food ready for us. The bed was one of the most comfortable we had slept in, the other guests were quiet, kind and respectful and the breakfast he prepared was unbelievable. The location was very nice as it was close to the train so we walked with our carry on to his B&B with no troubles.

The owner Alessandro was charming and provided a huge breakfast every morning. Very tasty. My only wish would have been a bit more variety. Although I’m sure if we’d asked he would have provided that. Rooms were comfortable but the bathroom had to be shared and the room we had was far away from it. But I’m sure younger people would have not minded this at all.

My mother and I stayed at Alessandro's house for almost a week as if we were at our own home. The location is perfect as it is very close to Piazza de Roma. The room is impeccable, with everything from an iron, hairdryer, bathrobes, and even a mini-fridge with drinks to enjoy during our stay. The day we arrived was in the early hours of the morning and Alessandro was waiting for us very kindly. The breakfasts are spectacular, especially the freshly made cappuccinos. Alessandro gave us perfect directions to places to eat and also about Venice in general. And as a final touch, he took us on his boat along the Grand Canal, we will never forget this experience. Without a doubt, I would stay there again if I returned to Venice.

Alessandro was an unbelievable host. It’s like having a free tour guide. The breakfast is without question the best breakfast (actually meal) I’ve had during my 10 days in Italy. The rooms were simple but clean. The bathroom is shared but spotless and regularly cleaned. Note: when you hear shared bathroom, don’t think of a suite with a bathroom between the two rooms; think of a bathroom at the end of the hall outside your room (if you get deluxe) and right next to your room if you get superior. This wasn’t an issue for me at all, but if it’s a challenge for you, I’d recommend the superior room so you’re much closer to it, making it feel more like a private bathroom. AC was cold, a fan was available. And the WiFi was the best we had during our entire vacation. Italy’s WiFi is notoriously slow (not here though). The location is close to the train station and relatively close to the bus station. You will value this when you have your bags and are arriving or departing. Trust me! I’d recommend this to everyone who asks. I’d make the bathroom thing clear and if they can work through that, they will not be disappointed.

Alessandro is an excellent host. He gave us an extremely warm welcome, talked about the local attractions and where best to eat and made us some juice and bruschetta to eat while we talked. The property is within around 25 mins walk of many sights in Venice and was kept very clean and tidy. The breakfast each morning was delicious and very big so you can even skip lunch if you want. I would definitely recommend this property, Alessandro helped to make our stay in Venice a memorable one.

As I said on Tripadvisor: do not miss the chance to stay here. The location was perfect - easy to get everywhere from this location either by walking or by taking the waterbus. Alessandro had fantastic advice on places to visit and eat in Venice and was so, so helpful and friendly. He and Sarah also cook the largest breakfast I have ever seen, which was always a fantastic way to start the day. Thank you both for such an excellent haven in bustling Venice.

Alessandro was a charming host, full of local knowledge and enthusiasm for his city. The breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious and Sarah was wonderfully obliging with the cups of coffee. From the B&B to the Rialto Bridge is a nice 15-minute walk, but heading north affords respite from the tourists through beautiful, winding streets seemingly untouched for centuries. All in all, we wouldn't hesitate to come back to the B&B for its location, its convenience, and above all, the kindness and generosity of the staff.

This Bed and Breakfast in Venice is very charming, because you will have the impression of being part of Venice. The property is located right in the heart of daily life in Venice. The rooms are on the second floor and very quiet. The apartment is very unique and stylish. The host Alessandro is a very kind and helpful host and his breakfast is amazing. But this word is truly not enough for the breakfast he prepared for us. It was very nice to stay in Venice, but it was wonderful to have the opportunity to stay in this Bed and Breakfast. Alessandro is like a good genie. He helped with many ideas to visit Venice with a different view of this beautiful city. Also, he was lovely with our dog and Spiky took him directly to his heart. Thank you very much. We will come back to Venice, also thanks to this Bed and Breakfast and Alessandro.

Alessandro was a wonderful host, with a great Bed & Breakfast. He prepared a huge, delicious breakfast and shared lots of tips for our (all too short) visit to Venice. The location was very convenient and accessible and the room and bed were very comfortable. If I ever get the chance to return to Venice I will definitely check to see if I can stay at the Bed & Breakfast Venice-BB-Venezia.

Alessandro is a great host and a really lovely man in general, he is very relaxed, kind and well organised which made the whole experience of being in Venice a really pleasant one. He is a Venetian born and bred and therefore has some really good recommendations for local bars/restaurants which can be really hard to chose from as they all seem to be pretty good but Alessandro's advice was always good. The bedrooms are very comfortable, clean and spacious and the breakfast was (as many reviews testify) really good too. The area is good as its near Guglie, one of the first stops on the water bus or Vaporetto from the airport so you don't have far to walk with suitcases (about 5mins if that). Plus its in a very relaxed and trendy area of town with a few great little bars and most of the best places to eat within walking distance. I'd definitely recommend this as a place to stay to friends or family and would love to go back one day too. Cheers Alessandro!

We arrived one afternoon at this B&B and our host was waiting for us with a 100% Italian snack. While we snacked, he gave us a map where he marked all the good restaurants (pizza, pasta, meat, fish, etc.) in the city and very important for me, not touristy, 100% Venetian. The room, which has air conditioning, very important in the middle of August, was super clean, as was the bathroom. He asked us what our preferences were for breakfast, and since each of us had different tastes, he prepared us an exquisite breakfast (for the time we wanted) with potato omelette, delicious sandwiches, juices, something sweet... incredible. My partner and I, with that breakfast, could endure touring the city until dinner, and we visited some of the restaurants he recommended, where the food was more than exquisite.\n\n100% recommended if you are a couple, or a family with children. The location is great, because it is very close to the Santa Lucia train station, and it is far enough from the center (St. Mark's Square) to be calm, but in a walk you can easily reach these tourist sites.\n\nIf I go back to Venice, which I hope I do, I will repeat without hesitation!

It was my first trip to Venice, travelling solo for three nights, and I thought the location was perfect - very easy to reach from the Airport (via Waterbus), close enough to the main attractions, and far enough away from the main tourist routes. Alessandro was an amazing host, who provided great tips on where to eat, and visit, and prepared a breakfast spread fit for a king. I would highly recommend to friends.

A really great place to stay - our room (the Deluxe room) was large and had a huge comfy bed. The bathroom is shared with the other room, however this was not a problem during our stay as we hardly saw the other guests. Alessandro is a great host, very welcoming and friendly. He offers a fantastic breakfast in the morning - a huge variety to start the day! The location is very good, just 5 mins walk from the train and bus station. We had a lovely stay here and would recommend it.

Strategic location, very convenient for getting around, very typical. About 10 minutes from the Station, very easy to find. Room with hairdryer, iron, bathrobes, fridge. Alessandro was extraordinarily welcoming and caring... Upon our evening arrival, he offered us white wine and snacks, all with very good local products, he showed us typical places and gave us useful directions on how to move around, provided a map of Venice. Impeccable cleanliness. Too bad for the shared bathroom (always spotless) otherwise it would be perfect. He allowed us to leave our luggage in storage on the day of departure. Fabulous breakfast, sweet and savory, brioches, tart, 5-6 types of dried fruit, muesli, yogurt, tea, coffee, fresh bread, cheese, cold cuts. He asked us what we preferred, we liked a savory breakfast and he made us find freshly baked pizza, bruschette and giant sandwich. We appreciated the choice of all quality ingredients. A breakfast to fill you up. You can easily have dinner directly there. A place to definitely return to.

It was a great time in Venice. The place is really nice to stay in Venice: close to the railway station, easy to get to Vaporetto, a very nice neighborhood to eat at night 5-10 minutes walking. Therefore, you start your day with a great breakfast (The breakfast is really huge and made with love by Alessandro, who is a very pleasant host). Then you can walk or take a vaporetto to go and visit all the places. You can come back at the end of the day and decide to go to the ghetto to eat in different, nice, and pleasant places with typical offerings. The bedrooms are super clean and nicely decorated.

If there was an 11/10 this lovely Bed and Breakfast would deserve it. It is very central, quiet and clean. What makes it so special though is Alessandro, the host who goes out of his way to help with eating and visiting suggestions. There is no way we'd have found or used the Gondolier at 2.00 euros across the Grand Canal to get to the fish market without his suggestion or the gorgeous coffee shop right outside the front door. But it was his pride and enthusiasm for the Venetian life and tradition that was the abiding memory of our stay here. Oh, and the lavish breakfast table is all true too!\n\nWe have returned to stay with Alessandro in 2017, in 2018 and most recently in 2023. The format has changed (sadly no breakfast!) but Alessandro is as welcoming, friendly and enthusiastic about Venice as ever. It is always a pleasure to meet him again and catch up with the world and life in general. Thank you for yet another happy stay in Venice.

Fabulous Venetian Hospitality! We had an amazing stay with Alessandro in Venice. The property was quirky, colourful and extremely clean. As other reviews have stated his breakfasts are generous, hearty and great quality. The room was extremely comfortable and the shared bathroom was not an issue for us. When compared to faceless hotels a stay with Alessandro wins hands down. He is a warm, friendly host who goes out of his way for his guests. We would not consider staying with anyone else if, or should I say when we return to Venice.

A beautiful discovery that made the visit to Venice-BB-Venezia even more special. The friendliness of the Bed and Breakfast owner (Alessandro), his passion in telling about his city infected us and his suggestions on places to visit and on the places to have dinner or "cicchettare" were all spot on. Regarding the structure, the rooms are beautiful, clean, and welcoming. The bathroom is also very clean, and you don't even notice that it is shared. The highlight, however, is the breakfast. From savory to sweet, including juices and fruit, everything is abundant and good, to the point that you can easily skip lunch, having more time to visit the city and investing everything on dinner. My boyfriend and I will definitely come back!
