Molenda is an old country house situated outside the beautiful town of Città di Castello and is approximately 2 km from the historic centre; is it the perfect base for your holiday in Umbria, where you can find the incredible mix of nature, history, cultural richness of art and gastronomic
tastes from the Alta Valle del Tevere.

We are also ideally situated within easy reach of the regions of Tuscany and Marche.

We serve an Italian breakfast with local artisanal pies, biscuits, jams, honey, fresh local bread, local salami, pecorino cheese, fruit juices, coffee of various types (traditional, decaf, barley, chicory, American, tea, etc.), and upon request, anything else to satisfy everyone's taste!

Restaurant

In the same building as the Molenda Bed&Breakfast, there is also a restaurant called Macomè where you can enjoy excellent grilled meat and delicious pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven, as well as many other local delicacies. The Bed and Breakfast Molenda was born of a renovation of an old (1700) family farmhouse that has been inhabited for many years by the settlers who farmed the surrounding land and then, with my brother Francesco in 2003 we decided to renovate it as we had a person who was interested in us a ground floor restaurant and then during the renovation, we decided to make several upstairs rooms with private bathroom (we have 6 rooms all with private bathroom) and we built a loft in the old attic.

So we started this business so 'for fun without having clear ideas too and now we are very happy because many customers arrive and everyone is excited out of place, and even rooms and about the restaurant below.

This is our first time visiting Umbria and instead of the usual hotel, we chose to stay in a B&B: a perfect choice! From the first contacts, Federico – the owner – proved to be kind, patient, and always available. The room was spotless, comfortable, and equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay. The breakfast is a real highlight, rich, varied, and with typical local products: a nice surprise! Federico is always present and attentive to every need without ever being intrusive. Exceptional price for the level of service offered. And as the icing on the cake: the restaurant Macomè, located right under the B&B, offers a wide selection of local dishes, excellent pizza, and very honest prices. We will definitely return, highly recommended!

The location is easily reachable and strategic for visiting the major Umbrian cities. Next door, there is a restaurant - pizzeria. Impeccable cleanliness. The room was very spacious, equipped with both air conditioning and a ceiling fan. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was large with a shower. The breakfast area had a large table with benches located in front of a large fireplace. The breakfast included both sweet and savory options, with fresh products. The owner made sure there was always water available in the fridge (without any surcharge) and was always available for anything. His friendliness, availability, and care were the cherry on the cake. Excellent quality/price ratio.

Country cottage a few minutes from Città di Castello, Federico excellent host kind, helpful and willing to give great advice on where to go and what to see, the restaurant below also excellent. We will definitely return.

Why did I choose Molenda B&B? I was looking for a structure (B&B, Agriturismo, Hotel) that could serve as a HUB for me and my family (including Lagotto Romagnolo dog) during the 3-day tour we had planned in northern Umbria. I stumbled upon Molenda B&B's website by chance: I looked at the photos, studied the location on Google Maps in relation to the destinations I had set, read the reviews (starting with the few worst ones and then the best ones, many), sent a availability request and some technical clarifications regarding the hospitality of the dog and after 2 hours I received the response with quotes, information, and availability. The location is 3 km from Città di Castello, among woods and tobacco plantations easily accessible for those with a car (ample dedicated private parking). The structure is a finely renovated farmhouse equipped with all comforts: from amenities in the bathroom, to free Wi-Fi in the room and common areas, to the latest generation beds and mattresses (Dorelan brand) that allow you to rest very well. Well-functioning air conditioning with remote control and mosquito nets (given the location) on all windows. The Breakfast: you serve yourself as at your own home, but you find all the comforts of a 4-star hotel: Lavazza coffee and chocolate machine, various types of homemade pies and cakes, yogurt, muesli, cookies, 2 types of milk, jams, Nutella, fresh bread, local cold cuts and cheeses and on request also bacon, sausages, and scrambled eggs. Renovated farmhouse on the outskirts of Città di Castello. Extremely clean and well-kept room. The manager is very kind, friendly, and helpful in providing all the information to access the main places of interest in the surroundings. The property is located a few minutes from the center, in a quiet and lovely position. The breakfast service, during this period of Covid restrictions, is served in a pastry bar in the center that offers excellent quality and quantity.

Being guests of Federico was a wonderful experience, the structure located in the greenery immerses you in nature and relaxation, hospitality, availability, and kindness make everything very pleasant. A starting point for visits to the many historical and natural sites in the area, personally I was able to visit Urbino (Marche) and areas of Lower Tuscany where I had never been and of course Umbria. All this accompanied by the constant assistance of Federico lavish with advice on the routes to take, where to eat, with the addition of an assistance as in my case of a car breakdown, where he immediately intervened to solve the problem, especially considering the particular period when many were closed for holidays.

Renovated country house, with cozy and comfortable rooms. The dining room is well furnished and includes a kitchen available to guests to prepare breakfasts. Excellent assortment of homemade pies, very tasty. The B&B manager was very kind and caring, as well as generous with tips for possible excursions. The B&B is located 2 km from the center of Città di Castello, in a quiet location. Ideal accommodation for me, as I had decided to spend a couple of days in Umbria and especially to visit the museums of the Fondazione Burri, the latter not to be missed for contemporary art lovers.

The structure is characteristic, typical of the area, with beamed ceilings and 'pianelle'. Very cozy. It is located in a quiet position and a stone's throw from the town center, and the manager is very kind, courteous, and very helpful. We had a great time. Until next time!
