Description
After spending many years amid the vibrant streets of Florence, we chose to answer a slower, deeper call: the call of nature, silence, and the genuine rhythms of countryside life.
Our aim was not merely to change our location but to rediscover a different way of living and sharing experiences. Thus, we selected the gentle hills of Gubbio, in San Bartolomeo, a corner of Umbria where the beauty of the landscape meets history and tranquility, to establish our Bed & Breakfast.
Here, surrounded by woods and timeless views, we found, envisioned, and renovated a farmhouse where guests and friends can feel at home, breathe fresh air, and savor the unhurried pace of the days.
Every corner of our B&B reflects a piece of ourselves, and a touch of Florentine spirit has accompanied us to this splendid part of Umbria.
Our three rooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, are named after the colors of the historic Florentine football game, while the breakfast room, also used to welcome guests throughout the day, completes the set of four colors.
In spring and summer, our garden, equipped with a hot tub, invites you to relax and enjoy the "sounds" of nature and the surrounding forest, where early in the morning, deer may make an appearance—perhaps while sipping an aperitif designed to introduce the local food and wine products.
During autumn and winter, our large fireplace offers cozy companionship, perfect for a game of chess paired with a fine glass of Montefalco red wine.
We are located within the municipality of Gubbio, one of the oldest and most charming towns in Umbria. The hamlet of San Bartolomeo di Burano remains a precious testament to the simple and authentic life of the past. Moreover, from here, it is easy to reach quaint small villages such as Scheggia, Sigillo, and Costacciaro within a few kilometers, or the Adriatic coast of Marche, with Fano just about a 40-minute drive away.

Area countryside
It is located in the municipality of Gubbio, in its hills, specifically in the hamlet of San Bartolomeo di Burano. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when these mountainous areas were inhabited by communities engaged in agriculture, livestock farming, and forest exploitation. The strategic location, not far from important communication routes such as the ancient Via Flaminia, facilitated key connections between the inland and the Adriatic coast, making the area an active participant in trade and movements of the time. Even today, archaeological evidence of these significant exchanges remains, and it is worth noting the repeated passage through these lands of Countess Matilda of Canossa, after whom the provincial road connecting Umbria to Marche is named. This is a region waiting to be explored, with its trails, hermitages, and small villages that lie at the crossroads of Umbrian and Marchigian traditions.

We were welcomed magnificently. The farmhouse is completely renovated, largely by Samantha and Matteo, who preserved its ancient charm.
The rooms are on the upper floor. We stayed in the red room, very airy and overlooking the greenery. As in hotels, we found a rich set of toiletries, a pleasant surprise for a B&B. Everything is brand new and the cleanliness is impeccable. Although it was August, we slept comfortably with the window open to hear the sounds of the woods. What a delight!
In the morning for breakfast you go down to a room with a table laid out with cured meats, cheeses and pastries, also prepared by Samantha. There are also excellent fresh croissants. The B&B also offers their jams and a small display case with the amigurumi made by Samantha.
It is the passion and the boundless kindness of Samantha and Matteo that make the time spent special. They welcomed us with great cordiality and made us feel immediately at home. They love nature and the area, which they promote by selling zero-kilometre products. The location is also strategic and very convenient for reaching Gubbio and other towns in the area, and they gave us great advice, maps and leaflets to discover the territory.
Wind coverage is absent, but the Wi‑Fi works perfectly.
We had a wonderful time and Samantha and Matteo captured our hearts. We had long chats, admired the stars together, received their advice and experienced moments of lightness.
Our stay was only a "see you again", we will return soon.
