Citerna
The Municipality of Citerna is located in the province of Perugia in the middle of the Tiber Valley.
The citernese territory consists mainly of agricultural land (on which the local economy) and by hills covered by woods.
Citerna is considered the "terrace" of the Tiber Valley; from here in fact you can see, with just a glance, the whole valley with the River Tiber, which starts from Città di Castello and extends until reaching Sansepolcro.
Thanks to its beauty and the panorama that you can admire, Citerna is one of the "most beautiful villages in Italy".
The monuments that can be admired in this medieval village are: the Rock (a fort of Lombard origin recently restored), the Church of St. Michael the Archangel (where is preserved a magnificent Madonna and Child), the Church of San Francesco (probably it built to commemorate the passage of St. Francis of Assisi in Citerna) and Palazzo Prosperi with its medieval walkway (also called "sweethearts" and home to interesting small exhibitions).
