Villa Chiara is simply the home of a travel, archaeology, nature, and art-loving family for multiple generations.
Surrounded by greenery and with a beautiful view of the countryside up to Lake Trasimeno and the city of Cortona, Villa Chiara guesthouse is located just a few meters from the restricted traffic zone. It is only a 2-minute walk from the monumental Porta al Prato, which leads to the lower part of the historic center of the Pearl of the Cinquecento with its beautiful Renaissance palaces. A 2-minute walk is also enough to enter the center through Porta di Gozzano, reaching the middle of the main street that leads to the beautiful Piazza Grande.
The strategic location of Villa Chiara combines the convenience of being able to drop off your luggage 10 meters from your room with the ability to reach the historic center on foot with its restaurants, bars, and shops.
Red Room: The furnishings consist of antique family furniture, an ensuite bathroom, and two windows with mosquito nets. The Red Room does not have a kitchenette. It has a double bed and can accommodate up to two additional single beds.
Blue Room: The furnishings consist of antique furniture recovered from the second-hand market and restored by a skilled local craftsman. The double bed can be separated into two singles upon request. There is a modern piece of furniture that contains a kitchenette where you can prepare breakfast or simple meals (fridge-freezer, electric hotplates, extractor hood, sink with hot and cold water, pots, and dishes). Panoramic window with mosquito net, private bathroom exclusively for external use to the room.

Additionally, check-in is usually after 15: 00, but can be arranged for other times when possible, and check-out is by 10: 00.

We are animal lovers and they are welcome (please inform us in advance if you will be bringing your four-legged friend). Several cats permanently reside here and we have beehives in the garden.

However, it may happen that my husband Giordano opens the door, or if you haven't booked and are unlucky, you may find our cat Pitù lying on the mat: friendly and affectionate, but unable to give you a room! Just a minute's walk away, next to the bus station, there is a large free parking lot. Cyclists and motorcyclists can leave their vehicles inside the garden fence. For the lazier ones, it is possible to reach Piazza Grande at the top of the town with the urban shuttles from the nearby bus station.

Villa Chiara is a special place, just a few steps from the center of Montepulciano and with a breathtaking view of the Tuscan hills. The rooms are clean and cozy. Manuela is helpful and attentive to every need. Highly recommended!

The property was fine and near the historic town. It was also right next to a carnival that blasted techno music incredibly loud all day and into the night until 1 am. Really shouldn't rent the room during this time. The room was also warm so opening the windows for natural air meant even louder music.

Mi spiace che si sia trovato così male. Durante i ponti di primavera a Montepulciano si festeggia la patrona Sant'Agnese Segni nella data della sua morte (20 aprile del 1317), l'anniversario della liberazione d'Italia il 25 aprile, l'apertura dell'anno contradaiolo (la domenica precedente il 1 maggio) e per il 1 maggio, che è anche la festa dei lavoratori, si svolge una grande fiera di cui era informato. Fa parte di questi festeggiamenti tradizionali, da decenni, anche la presenza di un Luna Park che più o meno è attivo 15 giorni. La presenza del luna park comprende sempre anche il ponte del 25 aprile e quest'anno ha incluso anche le festività Pasquali coincidendo la Pasqua proprio con l'anniversario della morte della santa patrona il 20 aprile. Un periodo quindi caratterizzato sempre anche da forte presenza di turisti italiani e sempre più anche stranieri. Io affitto camere dal 2000 e nessuno si è mai lamentato del luna park perchè chiudendo le doppie finestre il rumore è ben tollerabile e l'orario di apertura è solo dalle 16 del pomeriggio fino alle 23 di sera nei preferiali o alle 24 nei prefestivi (tutto il giorno solo il 1 maggio); orari che per le abitudini degli italiani, in un periodo di vacanza, sono tollerabilissimi. Quest'anno ho avuto per la prima volta due lamentele: la sua e quella di una giovane coppia di inglesi. Mi sono così resa conto che negli anni ho avuto pochissimi ospiti stranieri in questo periodo, solitamente dominato dalle vacanze degli italiani, i quali sanno bene che, muovendosi nei ponti di primavera, tutto possono trovare meno che la tranquillità assoluta se scelgono le mete turistiche più gettonate. Il grosso dei visitatori stranieri arriva in altri periodi mentre quest'anno le due ondate turistiche si sono sovrapposte un poco in tutta Italia. Per sua sfortuna il clima che cambia gli ha fatto trovare un 1 maggio veramente molto caldo... tanto da desiderare di aprire la finestra che, le garantisco, a mia memoria si teneva ben chiusa in questa stagione e che abbiamo ben chiuso nuovamente a pertire dal 5 maggio dato che la temperatura è di nuovo scesa. Per finire il racconto sulle tradizioni locali che penso possa interessare, la buona riuscita della fiera del 1 maggio è legata al bel tempo e facilmente prevedibile perchè il 1 maggio fa sempre il tempo del 20 aprile giorno di Sant' Agnese: quest'anno il 20 aprile il tempo era bello ed il 1 maggio è stata una giornata soleggiata ma anche molto calda. Sarà mia premura, i prossimi ponti di primavera, segnalare ai turisti di lingua inglese che dovessero prenotare le mie camere la presenza del luna park come del resto avevo segnalato anche a lei il possibile disagio per parcheggiare l'auto o anche solo per muoverla il giorno della fiera. The room reflects the description, it is located 5 minutes walk from a medieval gate of Montepulciano so the center is easily reachable. For breakfast, there are two bars quite close. We did not have a bathroom in the room, the bathroom was clean, the only things I didn't like are that there is a bathtub with a showerhead and no shower box, so it's a bit uncomfortable, and that there was very little soap available. Fortunately, I had brought some from home. Anyway, these are small things, the value for money is more than sufficient.

Si, è vero, la camera rispecchia la descrizione e ridescriverla come fa lei mi sembra abbastanza inutile anzi fuorviante per chi legge... ma forse non l'aveva letta prima di prenotare: altrimenti avrebbe saputo che c'era la vasca e non la doccia nella camera che ha scelto e che il bagno non era in camera (tralascia che sulla vasca è montato un pannello per chiuderla durante la doccia trasformandola in box). In quanto al sapone come quasi tutti aveva il suo preferito e avrebbe usato il suo in ogni caso... sopratutto riguardo allo shampoo ognuno ha le sue esigenze e per questo lascio a disposizione solo un sapone che è comunque utilizzabile sia per le mani che per la doccia e che può essere richiesto se finisce ma in 3 giorni non lo ha usato. Mi ha detto di essere stato bene quindi sono tranquilla ma, come le ho detto, di solito chi sta bene non mette 7. Buona estate a lei e a suo figlio.

It was very nice staying at Villa Chiara. You can easily walk to Montepulciano. Everything is clean and well equipped. The hostess is super friendly and accommodating. Also, there are very sweet cats. We had a great stay.

Even though the structure of the room furnished with antique furniture did not appeal to me because it lacks warmth, we greatly appreciate that: we are just a few minutes from the center, free parking is available on the street, the room and bathroom are clean, the location seems quiet and the lady who welcomed us was very kind.

Structure in a very convenient area because it is outside the historical center and with free parking possibility. The historical center can be easily reached on foot in 5 minutes. Clean and welcoming room. Excellent value for money. Very kind manager who gave us some suggestions both on places to visit absolutely and on restaurants to eat.

Very kind landlady. The property is very clean and functional. I stayed one night in the room with the kitchenette available, which was equipped with all the necessary utensils. The location of the property is excellent, just outside the walls of the city center, in a panoramic position. Highly recommended.

Purtroppo con il covid la comunicazione è più difficile ma basta un messaggio con whatsapp se c'è un problema. Purtroppo ogni oggetto dato in uso va disinfettato e quindi non lascio tutto in camera come facevo prima: ventilatore, asciugacapelli o altro indicato come fornito se non presente in camera basta chiedere. Idem per la wifi c'è: non siate timidi chiedete!

We stayed at Villa Chiara for three days and Mrs. Manuela made us feel at home. The rooms are very comfortable and very clean. Although not in the central area, with a short five-minute walk you can immediately reach the main street. Great value for money. Thank you Manuela!

Relaxed and family atmosphere, excellent cleanliness and a short walk from the center of Montepulciano, with the added convenience of parking right outside the Villa Chiara. The view from the room was very pleasant, overlooking the green Polizian countryside. Manuela was very welcoming, attentive, and helpful in providing us with directions and recommending what to see and where to eat. We will be back soon.

Wonderful stay in the beautiful Montepulciano. My boyfriend and I spent three days at Villa Chiara and we had a great time. Manuela is a welcoming, friendly, and very nice person. I stayed 2 nights in the red room, nice and comfortable. The beauty of Villa Chiara is that it is very close to the center, just cross the public garden. The landlady is very nice and helpful and welcomed me and my dog well. I recommend it.

I have known the managers since September 2007, they are exquisite people from every point of view, truly special, kind, sociable, fun, prepared and above all 'real'. It's since that September that I return with infinite pleasure, to their little descent, that Via delle Lettere n. 16 that I will never forget, the very bright, fresh, welcoming, extremely clean rooms, furnished with taste and passion. For those who want to spend days of absolute relaxation, without stress, without any formality, and without having to pay 'a figure', Villa Chiara is the ideal place, the perfect Bed & Breakfast. I have been to other bed & breakfasts in Tuscany, but none have matched the level of well-being experienced here. That's why I come back every year.

I stayed at Villa Chiara with my friend. Specifically in the blue room. What can I say, I don't know if we were more satisfied with the room or with Manuela's welcome. The room is spacious and essential, very clean with a nice kitchenette where you can prepare anything. Next to us, the large and clean bathroom and to our right a room with a terrace (garden view) where you can relax and read the many books available. As soon as we arrived, we walked around the streets of Montepulciano and it took us 5 minutes to reach the center. Really convenient. In addition to this, we must mention the fantastic welcome of Manuela, always ready to recommend a nice place to visit or where to eat. We will definitely return.

We stayed in the "red room" from 15th to 17th May 2015. The room is really spacious, where the third bed fits comfortably without taking away space from movements. Excellent cleanliness. The bathroom is a bit narrow, but still very nice and in any case sufficient for the purposes. The location of the property is strategic, being easily accessible by car and a stone's throw from the historic center. Plus, with a beautiful panoramic view, all the way to Lake Trasimeno. Manuela and Giordano, the hosts, are very kind and generous with advice and directions on both tourist itineraries and local dining. In conclusion, a more than positive experience. To return, maybe for the Bravio del Botti.

È stato veramente un piacere ricevere una recensione così bella e completa dove non viene tralasciato niente di quello che ci caratterizza. È un mio punto d'impegno togliere il quarto letto per i bimbi piccoli e il terzo letto è apposta pieghevole perché chi affitta la camera per due o per tre persone non sia penalizzato dal fatto che è quadrupla ma abbia a disposizione tutto lo spazio possibile. Il bagno è stato ricavato nella camera che essendo appunto molto grande lo permetteva.
È stato veramente un piacere ricevere una recensione così bella e completa dove non viene tralasciato niente di quello che ci caratterizza. È un mio punto d'impegno togliere il quarto letto per i bimbi piccoli e il terzo letto è apposta pieghevole perché chi affitta la camera per due o per tre persone non sia penalizzato dal fatto che è quadrupla ma abbia a disposizione tutto lo spazio possibile. In this short getaway before the start of the season we had a great time! The place is cozy and clean. The managers are friendly and helpful. It remains very convenient because it is very close to the historic center of Montepulciano, if you want you can park as soon as you arrive and the car won't move anymore! Mrs. Manuela was really hospitable and kind. The property is strategically located as it is adjacent to the town walls, so you can take a nice walk or take a minibus that takes you to the castle. Very positive experience.

My two friends and I stayed at this delightful B&B. We had a great time especially thanks to Manuela who is nice, kind, and helpful. The room is lovely, clean, spacious, well-furnished, and functional. The same goes for the bathroom. There was also a tray with cups and drinks in the room that we could enjoy in complete tranquility. The property is close to the center and is located on an easy-to-find and quiet street. A very nice, quiet house near the historical centre of Montepulciano. You can walk up to the historical city. The walk is quite tough, if you do not use the elevator, and it is a little bit difficult to find the entrance to the city, but you can enjoy the landscape and the beautiful park in front of the city walls. The house is clean, tidy and cool - very nice on hot summer days. You can shut the windows and the sunblinds. The room I got was quite big, with a small fridge and two hotplates in a wardrobe - perfect for making coffee or cooling your drinks. Towels have been provided. In my case I had to share the bathroom with one other guest, but during my whole time the bathroom was always clean and tidied up. The breakfast was not included. I did not know that, but I could buy many things in the supermarket and prepare my own breakfast, so it did not matter. Maybe a hint would have been helpful to prevent misunderstandings. In 5 minutes you can walk to the supermarket or a small café. The bus station is really close, a big advantage in comparison to other hotels on the mountain. For me it was a perfect accommodation for my course program, which I participated during the week. I had to go to the top of the mountain every morning to visit the course, but on the other hand I had the supermarket and the bus station really close. For the price I got everything I wished and I lacked nothing. The innkeeper Manuela is really really nice and always helped me with information about the departing times of the bus, shopping possibilities and other things, although my Italian has to be improved...very much. I can recommend this accommodation, if you look for good quality at a modest price, with good connections to the centre and the traffic lines. Nice cats in the garden, too.

The house is well maintained, located in a quiet area, about 5/10 minutes (on foot) from the center, ideal for those who do not want to use the car unless to move to another town in the area. The room is clean and in excellent condition with a good quality/price ratio. Breakfast was not included, but there is a café bar 50 meters away with a good selection of pastries for breakfast. Manuela and Giordano are friendly and affable people able to provide any information about events in the area. If I were to return to the area, I would not hesitate to contact them.
