Description
This lovely hill overlooks the pristine valley of the Fiora River, whose waters provide refreshment in the summer and a soothing melody in the winter as all the streams swell and gurgle down toward the river.
Visitors to this place can enjoy the tranquility and silence that this location offers, perfect for writing, meditating, or resting.
Podere di Maggio is an organic farm that produces olive oil and chestnuts.
The agriturismo consists of five stone houses, each independent and fully immersed in nature.
The surroundings are quite enchanting: centuries-old chestnut groves, ancient terraced olive orchards, and streams flowing down to the Fiora River, where swimming is possible and encounters with wildlife are common. From here, you can explore Etruscan sites, medieval villages, nature reserves, abbeys, and hot springs (such as Saturnia and Bagni San Filippo).
On warm days, you can cool off in the spring water pool or take a plunge in the river just 10 minutes away.
The Tyrrhenian coast, with its beautiful beaches, is only an hour away from here.

Hey from Rita
We've only lived here for 15 years, and we enjoy it immensely!
Situated on the slopes of Monte Amiata, in the valley of the Fiora River, and surrounded by natural parks with a landscape that genuinely feels like it’s from 1650, we established this agriturismo to delight in welcoming people who appreciate locations like this.

Area hills
The charming medieval villages nearby are waiting to be explored and remain largely untouched by mass tourism. Notable among these are the tuff towns, like Sorano, Sovana, and Pitigliano, set in a picturesque landscape rich in Etruscan archaeological sites.
Additionally, famous art cities such as Siena, Orvieto, Perugia, and Assisi are within an hour or so from Podere di Maggio. For art enthusiasts, a visit to the Daniele Spoerri Park is a must; nestled in nature, it features a stunning collection of works by internationally acclaimed contemporary artists. For those wanting to venture a bit further, the Tarot Garden and the Bomarzo park are perfect for a day trip.
The Tyrrhenian coast, with its lovely beaches, is just an hour away. Uccellina is one of the quieter beaches, located within the Maremma National Park. From the Podere, you can easily walk to the Fiora River, where you can cool off in its clear waters or continue on a stroll to the natural waterfall.
If you're looking for a moment of relaxation, a hammock under a tree near the house can be a wonderful option. In winter, Mount Amiata offers ski facilities for winter sports enthusiasts.
