On April 29, 2017, the Parco del Mulino Social Cooperative opened its Bed & Breakfast inside the Park.
Located in the heart of the Ardenza neighborhood, in the southern area of Livorno, the Parco del Mulino B&B offers a welcoming and relaxing experience just a few steps from the sea. The Tre Ponti and La Rotonda beaches are easily accessible on foot, as well as the historic Baracchina Rossa.
This green oasis was made possible thanks to the support of our backers, providing our disabled individuals with a training path in the tourism and hotel industry. Here, they can regularly work in contact with the public, gaining greater independence and awareness of their own qualities through specific programs supervised by tutors.
This is just the first step of a wonderful inclusion project, where friendliness and hospitality are of primary importance. In 2017, IKEA funded the complete furnishing of the B&B structure, making the spaces pleasant and functional.

For sea lovers, Livorno offers unique views, among the most beautiful in Italy. The cliffs of Romito, the coastal road, Sonnino Castle, Calafuria Tower.
And for the less adventurous, the "flat rocks" where people have been bathing for pleasure since 1800. The city has much to offer to attentive eyes, the Old Fort and the New Fort, the ancient Venice district, crossed by dozens of canals, with narrow alleyways and ancient palaces, the "fossi," a system of canals surrounding the entire historic center and still navigable, and more.
A short distance from the Mulino Park, there is the Marian sanctuary of Montenero, a place of faith and miracles.
Located in a private park, Mulino Park is easily accessible from the "Montenero" exit of the SS1 Variante Aurelia (about 900m); by bus number 2 from the train station, stopping at Piazza Sforzini (about 400m); from the park, the promenade can be reached via a pedestrian/cycle path of about 400 meters.

Spacious and fairly clean room, except for limescale on the toilet. The shower and especially the bidet were unacceptable: the bidet was awkward for the legs and the shower had missing glass panels and had been replaced with a deteriorated plastic curtain. The air conditioner was very noisy. Breakfast was unacceptable. On the first day we found only one croissant from two days earlier; the microwave was completely dirty; the hot drink dispenser delivered only three coffees in three days for two people; the yogurts were not available on the last day and there were no toasts on the first day either. I am sorry to have to give a negative review of this place because you are a volunteer association with a strong social mission, but this is what we found. We also stayed in April and everything went well then.

The cleanliness of the room, especially under the bed, was not good. At breakfast the coffee machine was problematic after the first coffee. The money that was inserted was not credited. The restaurant's catering was excellent.

Unfortunately, the accommodation is very thin‑walled and getting to bed early is out of the question. The bathrooms urgently need improvement; for example, we would like a new shower partition or the removal of mold. To catch an early ferry, the hotel is just about adequate, but it is not suitable for longer stays. Very unfortunate, as I really find the project worth supporting.

Even though it was only for one night, there were no issues. We felt abandoned, as upon arrival, there was no accessible entrance or contact person, whom we later found at the pizzeria. At the closing time of the pizzeria, despite our place of origin, we were not given any opportunity to eat something. In exchange, the parking spots, usually reserved for B&B guests, were all full, largely taken by other people presumably from the pizzeria. The next morning at breakfast, there was no one around, at least to explain what and how to eat for breakfast; in fact, I couldn't find some dishes. Although we saw little to nothing, the initiative of this facility to employ differently-abled people is commendable. I wish for you and me that it continues this way. As accommodation, it is nevertheless sufficient and affordable, also because, as mentioned, there were no issues in the room or at departure, and also because the center is just a few minutes away by car.

I went for 1 night. Very kind and excellent welcome. I stayed with two dogs. Very convenient also for walking with the dogs. Breakfast was very plentiful. Easy to reach. I will come back.

During my stay, I encountered several issues. First of all, the check-in was quite chaotic: I arrived at the property around 2 PM, but I found no one to welcome me. I tried to contact the secretariat number several times without receiving a response. Only around 3 PM did someone call me back and come to give me the key. Unfortunately, I had to ask to change rooms (I was initially assigned room number 2) because during the first night there was a very annoying noise, probably coming from a water pump or a similar system. The room change was not easy either: my belongings had already been moved to the new room, and I had been told that I would find the key on the lock. However, another staff member - who was not informed of the change - had removed the key. Fortunately, I arrived earlier than expected to check that everything was in order. Additionally, the next morning there was no running water, causing further inconveniences. It should also be noted that the rooms are very close to the pizzeria, and the soundproofing is practically non-existent: it is difficult to rest with the noise coming from the room. Overall, the experience was not positive, and the value for money (about 67 euros per night) is definitely low. I chose this property because I appreciate the project and, having been part of volunteer associations for years, I wanted to support it. However, the management seemed improvised and poorly suited for a hospitality activity.

I want to clarify that this is not meant to be a criticism, but a contribution to improve. I chose it for the great idea of inclusion, but unfortunately, the welcome was cold and the room, although nice, very neglected. I hope this is because we are not yet in season. We didn't find anyone to hand the room keys to. Arriving at the electric gate, only one wing opened, the other was blocked. I called repeatedly, but there was no answer. We saw that there was a key hanging on the gate and, intuitively, we thought it was for unlocking the gate. So, we unlocked it, opened it, and left. I hope you take better care of the structure and the attention for the guests.

The pillow is very hard and the mattress is high but springy like latex. There are noises from mechanisms in room number two. The service is quick when needed. Convenient parking inside the park.

The room was suitable for my needs and the restaurant service was also excellent. It is a pity that the train passes right next to it and if someone is a light sleeper, it is not the best. However, in terms of quality-price ratio, the place is really worth it. It is recommended to arrive at the scheduled times to be able to speak in person with the managers.
