Descrizione
Stay with us and explore the unique beauty of the Maremma district’s Gulf of Follonica that overlooks the Island of Elba. This beautiful area is full of unmissable attractions. We are blessed with miles of sandy beaches, some with fully equipped bathing establishments, others with free access and then there are the breathtaking coves like Cala Martina and Cala Violina.

The gulf is the perfect destination for anyone wanting a holiday by the sea but also has so much more to offer – like good food, plenty of history, archaeological sites, nature reserves and water parks, not forgetting that other amazing places of interest like Pisa, Siena and Florence also make for unforgettable day trips, as do Tuscany’s wonderful old small towns and villages like San Gimignano and Volterra to the north or Montepulicano, Pienza and Montalcino to the south.

Our B&B provides you with a comfortable base not far from the sea (just 300m) or the pedestrian area of Follonica (only 100m) and is located in a neighbourhood that has plenty to offer including a wide choice of restaurants and bars.

Choose from a bedroom with private bathroom or a two-roomed apartment with a double bedroom, a lounge with a kitchen corner and a bathroom.

We also have a roof garden with a heated Jacuzzi and an infra-red sauna. We also have mountain bikes available so that guests can roam the town at will or head for the beach without having to start the car!
Last but not least, we want to point out how important it is to us that you are comfortable during your stay: the renovation work on the old building in which we are based was done with energy saving and sound proofing in mind. The exterior walls have a thermal cladding whilst the interior walls are soundproofed and the roof has a full 15 cm of insulation. All this because we firmly believe that our guests should be able to spend their holidays in a place that feels like home; somewhere that has been finished to a high standard and where they can have a relaxing, fulfilling and enjoyable time.

We have also worked hard to make our place meet the needs of those who are away from home on business. It’s one of the reasons that we don’t ask for a time of arrival. Check-in is always a DIY affair for all our guests; it means everyone is free to arrive at any time after 2 pm and make their way to their accommodation without any delays or problems.

I must say that the structure is perfect for those traveling by train, comfortable with every comfort, perfect cleanliness and very friendly staff. If a bad day were to happen, the structure offers (albeit small, a 'pool' on the roof), a room with a sauna and a room with some equipment for physical exercise. The only flaw perhaps is the price a bit too high. One night for two 140€. Only for one night and breakfast. They offer the possibility of luggage storage after check out in case you want to go to the beach even on the last day.

I stayed in the Superior room. Very beautiful and well taken care of in every detail, the only flaw is the two mattresses joined to form a double bed. The structure is brand new and equipped with a beautiful rooftop with jacuzzi, then a sauna on the 2nd floor and 4 bikes available for guests. The location is excellent, the B&B is very close to the station and the sea. The breakfast is good although it could include croissants. I also recommend it for the kindness of Antonella.

Very nice structure and recently renovated, modern furnishings and relaxing atmosphere. There is no elevator, and unfortunately if not requested at the time of booking, no information is provided. Similarly, there is no information provided that some rooms are adjacent to the kitchen and very close to the breakfast room: this is a real flaw because the noise from the breakfast preparation before 8 in the morning and from other B&B guests who (unfortunately) speak loudly without caring about the other rooms around them, together with the noise of plates and various dishes, is not pleasant at all. We were told that a door will be added to better isolate the rooms on the second floor from the breakfast room to address the noise issue, but for those who spent their holidays there this year, the discomfort was real! Great service of the bicycles available to guests for free. Unfortunately, there are only 4, a bit few especially in August when all rooms are occupied. Regarding breakfast, having stayed for 10 days, we can say that it is of good quality, although not very varied and the "savoury corner" is really minimal if not absent on some days. There has never been a cookie and/or croissant. Surely more could be done from that point of view! Excellent idea of the sauna available to customers and the roof garden, a rooftop garden with a very nice whirlpool.

What can I say? Personally, I will never return to Marconi 1935 B&B, but not because of the structure itself. It's their thirst for money that bothers me. I had to leave two nights early due to my father's health issues. They decided to present me with a bill for all nights, including the tourist tax and the dog (that wouldn't stay) because, like me, it would leave. I didn't argue and I paid, but I can't speak well of this attitude. I would have gladly paid for one night, but the second night is truly ridiculous. For €100, I would have preferred to have a returning customer who speaks well of me rather than the greed for making summer money to get by, which is really too high.
