We are in Compito, eight kilometers from the sixteenth-century walls of Lucca, in that flat area where the road winds from Lucca to Pontedera, on the slopes of Monte Serra where you can go for trips, picnics and trekking and from which you can enjoy a extraordinary panorama of the city of Pisa, and beyond.
We are in an ideal position to relax, unwind but also to visit countless places in Tuscany, many of which can be reached in less than an hour or in any case in very reasonable and non-tiring times.
The area is famous for its excellent oil, honey, particular gastronomic specialties and for having given its name to a delicious cannellino bean!
Locanda San Ginese - Bed, Room & Breakfast was born in an old country house that was completely restored respecting its original characteristics dominated in a wonderful balance by the terracotta floors and bricks and the chestnut beams, chains and rafters.
Depending on the season, breakfast is served in the cozy living room or under the pergola overlooking the garden, enjoying the view of the beautiful hut and its mandolato.
Maps and guides of the area, business cards of restaurants, brochures, programs of events and much more are available to all guests in the living room.

Alida and Luca are top-notch in hospitality: they have the gift of making you feel like one of the family, and indeed I have never felt so at home as at Locanda San Ginese. The Corallina room was very romantic and equipped with everything necessary for a pleasant stay. Having breakfast together with the other guests in the garden was a nice moment of conviviality. We all stayed at the inn for Ed Sheeran's concert at the Lucca Summer Festival, and exchanging impressions and comments was very fun! Beyond all expectations, Alida and Luca do not appear immediately as 'the managers', but as two friends, attentive first and foremost to humanity and empathy. Obviously, the same attention is dedicated to cleanliness, details, and advice on restaurants and more. I immediately saved Locanda San Ginese among my favorites. From now on, we will always more willingly look for any event nearby. But there is no need to have an excuse to visit the inn.

Our hosts, Alida and Luca, were exceptionally gracious and warm and went out of their way to make our stay an absolute delight. Beautiful and spacious rooms, tastefully furnished in Tuscan style, natural stones and high-quality furniture, each room has a different color, multicolored bedspreads I would say in an ethnic style. I forgot: super well-stocked bookcase! This is a place for a relaxing vacation, peace, and tranquility. Alida, the owner, pays attention to the details of the rooms, nothing is missing, indeed there are many small extra touches beyond what is necessary! Breakfast in the morning outside under the porch is definitely homely and absolutely delicious. We will definitely come back!

Locanda San Ginese is very nice, everything well taken care of and clean. The owners are beautiful, down-to-earth, friendly, and very kind people. The breakfast is plentiful and nothing is missing, if we happen to be in the area again, we will definitely return to Alida and Luca.

My partner and I were overwhelmed by the extreme kindness of the owner, who treated us like friends from the start. All surrounded by fantastic dogs and cats that kept us company. The property is equipped with everything, and if there is something wrong, you will definitely be satisfied. The only minor note I can make is that there was no TV in the room, but it could be an advantage!

At Locanda San Ginese, my family and I found what we were looking for: a peaceful corner immersed in greenery. Alida is a fantastic host, exquisite and very helpful. She pampers you and makes you feel truly at home. It's really enjoyable to converse with her. She assigned us a very spacious room, carefully curated down to the smallest detail. Even our dog appreciated the spaces provided! A special mention should be made for the breakfast. Varied and very abundant, with genuine and fresh products: a pleasure for the eyes as well as the palate! Thank you for everything Alida: it's clear that you love your work and that you love enriching your wealth of human experiences by opening your home to your guests. Hope to see you soon.

What a surprise! Pleasant encounter that makes us believe in the possibilities of the human race. What can I say, like being with family, pampered from our arrival to departure. Alida and Luca thank you, you are beautiful people. Everything perfect, from the room and services, all well taken care of with taste and refinement. A great breakfast and many, many suggestions to see the attractions of the nearby places we visited like the Devil's Bridge in Borgo a Mozzano and a visit to Marlia at the splendid Villa Reale. Also in the village there is an excellent restaurant, also suggested by Alida. A place to return to Carla and Brunello.

Thanks to the owners Alida and Luca (and the sweet dogs Isotta and Priscilla), me and my friends spent a beautiful weekend. The inn is surrounded by greenery, you can breathe a climate of true relaxation and carefreeness, and hospitality reigns. It's a pity to have stayed so shortly! Definitely worth returning.

Wonderful welcome; the managers are extremely courteous and attentive to your needs. The rooms are spacious and well furnished, but above all clean and tidy. They love animals and my little dog Aska and I had a great time. The breakfast is excellent. I felt at home! We will definitely come back!

Alida, the hostess, is the most wonderful owner of all our travels. She is like an old friend or relative welcoming you to her home. She is funny, smart, helpful, and caring. Her accommodations have a whimsical magic about them, and everything in her farmhouse is a testament to her own personal magic and love for life. We did not want for anything while staying there and felt so relaxed and free in her presence. Her B&B makes us want to move to San Ginese and buy a farmhouse like hers. Surprising Inn. You are surrounded by pure air, jasmine, greenery, the cheerful wag of a young big dog, you are wrapped in peace. And by the cordiality and kindness of Alida, tireless innkeeper capable of conveying energy and human warmth. It's like being with family, or among friends with deep affection. The rooms are spectacular: spacious, comfortable, generous, welcoming. They have a number but also a proper name, which I won't reveal, because the Inn deserves a visit and a meeting with Alida, Luca, their dogs, their cats. Who also become a bit ours. Abundant breakfasts, you forget about the clock and don't need the TV. I recharged my poor empty batteries, bringing home rediscovered scents, kind smiles and yes, a bit of nostalgia. I'll go back. Go there. It's a sweetly magical place.

The Locanda San Ginese is located in the splendid setting of the hills outside Lucca, near the Compito area. It is advisable to go there by car, but in case you are not driving, it is still reachable by public transport from Lucca. A few minutes' walk away, you can find the Social Mill of Compitese and the trattoria da Paolo e Paola, in case you need to provide food. The welcome from the managers is exquisite, my boyfriend and I felt well-served and revered. We are really satisfied with the experience: from the furnishings to the cleanliness to the breakfast, everything is extremely well cared for.

It was an exceptionally nice stay at the Locanda, completely relaxing and calm, with Alida being a 'great advisor' for trips and visits to be made in the Lucca-Firenze area. Will stay there again in case I'm in Tuscany.
