L'Antico Pozzo is located in the central Via San Matteo, inside the ancient walls of the medieval historic center of San Gimignano, in a quiet area away from the daily tourist crowds.
This is the perfect place to enjoy San Gimignano in the front row, without giving up the opportunity to relax in our bar or chat at the wrought iron tables of the delightful inner courtyard.
The 18 rooms of L'Antico Pozzo are easy to identify and will make you feel at home.
Here, past and present coexist in perfect harmony: you can still feel the authentic and magical heart of San Gimignano, a sober and elegant soul that does not like excess and reveals itself only to those who appreciate its beauty.

Our hotel is located in the historic center, in an enchanting position but subject to ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone). It is possible to arrive by car up to the entrance to unload your luggage: in this case we kindly ask you to let us know your vehicle's license plate number in advance, so that we can authorize access.
A slow arrival, in the heart of the historic center
However, if you are traveling light, we invite you to consider a more pleasant and sustainable alternative avoiding entering / exiting the historic center by car: leave your car in the P3 or P4 car parks, located a short distance away, and reach us on foot. A convenient lift in front of the car parks will take you up to the walls of the historic center, from which our hotel is only 350 meters away.
It is a short, quiet and suggestive walk, to enter the slow rhythm of the city and immediately begin to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the place. Walking through the ancient streets, immersed in silence and beauty, can be the first small pleasure of your stay.

You can reach the hotel by entering the ZTL from Porta S. Jacopo after the Bagnania Parking n. 3, follow Via Folgore From S. Gimignano - Via XX Settembre** - Via S. Matteo 87
IMPORTANT
** Once you reach the top of Via XX Settembre you will see signs that oblige you to go left, however you are authorized to go forward to reach via San Matteo.
The hotel is located about 30 meters on the left, however, since it is a one-way street, we ask you to reach the hotel in reverse, so that you will then be ready to return to the parking lot from the same road you just took.

It is not possible to reserve a parking space in advance, but you can purchase a discounted pass at the hotel for a minimum stay of 2 days.
For one-night stays, the automatic discount when paying at the parking machine is €15 for 24 hours.
The most convenient parking is # 3, is a public car park where you enter by taking an automatic ticket and pay at the cash desk before leaving.
There is no advanced parking space reservation service.

Beautifully quirky and historic property within San Gimignano town centre. Lovely hidden courtyard and very close to a couple of quiet restaurants so you don’t have to eat with the many tourists in the centre of town. Staff are very friendly and welcoming too.

Loved the hotel. Historic. Excellent location, comfortable room, and very nice breakfast. Even had eggs cooked to order! We were on a bike trip and they had secure bike storage.
