Old country house in Fontalle, accurately re built, belonged to Niccolò Machiavelli, refined and particular in its style, it is located in the heart of Chianti Classico close to Florence in Sant'Andrea in Percussina (San Casciano Val di Pesa), where the famous writer of Florence lived.

The Bed and Breakfast la Fonte del Machiavelli is located in this splendid setting, provides lovely well-furnished rooms, in Tuscan style, with ensuite bathrooms, air conditioned and equipped with satellite Tv, that overlook on the beautiful sorrounding view. In the morning you will wake up by birds song and admire all around cultivated fields, olive trees, cypresses, vineyards, green hills where here and there a stone farmhouse emerges. During summer you will have a good start of the day with a rich breakfast on the panoramic terrace and in the evening fall asleep among fireflies and crickets. A holiday close to nature, in the silent of Tuscan countryside, where you can regenerate, far from the confusion of the city. The family-run B&B's owners are professional and fond of, and they will receive you with warmth and helpfulness.

Our bed & breakfast is in Fontalle, in the centre of Tuscany, in the neighbourhood of many places of historical and artistic interest, such as Florence, 15 minutes drive, and San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra, Pisa, Lucca, reachable in short time. The short-distance freeway allow to reach quickly by car all the most famous art cities of Tuscany, spending a day or half-day trip. To all those who love "slow holiday", from the close city of San Casciano some of the most scenic streets start, that lead to towns and historical villages of Chianti: Panzano, Greve in Chianti, Radda, Castellina in Chianti. Renowned lands for the beautiful landscapes, for the richness of art and architectural treasures and for the excellent wine. To ride with the motorbike or even with the Vespa, stopping over to admire the landscape or for a wine tasting.
In the evening if you don't feel like doing too many km, in the vicinity of b&b within easy reach, you will find many restaurants and trattoria, to taste the Tuscan cooking.

Picturesque location and very good breakfast. The spaces need some revising: we booked a quadruple room and found ourselves in the space of a double room. With the two extra beds, it was uncomfortable to move around the room.

Great place and the host is a kind person. Situated amongst the hills at the end of a rocky and steep path. Lovely pool! The cleaning was done daily with new towels. Breakfast was the same every day and gets boring after a day or two. Make sure upon booking with children that you specify ages correctly to prevent additional fees.

Characteristic Bed and Breakfast immersed in the green Tuscan olive groves. The view from where breakfast is served is wonderful. Great location for those who need to visit Florence or other nearby areas. Simone is kind and discreet. The only flaw is the poorly maintained garden and outdoor area in general.

A fabulous place, immersed in greenery, peace, tranquility, ideal for resting. The owner very kind, helpful. We felt very good and comfortable. I would like to make a suggestion to improve even more, that is, I would put kettles for water and cups and some tea bags to give even more comfort to the guests. Otherwise everything was perfect.

We stayed at the magnificent structure, in contact with nature. Upon our arrival, we found excellent hospitality from the owner, who immediately made us feel at ease. What can I say, the room was very clean and the breakfast in the morning plentiful. We will definitely come back.

Geographically the place is beautiful: tranquility guaranteed and magnificent view. The infrastructures need to be refreshed (shower, poor lighting, fridge in the room that doesn't work, so-so pool). The owner not very talkative. He was not there when I arrived and no one was available at the entrance.

The room was clean, cozy, and spacious enough. Breakfast was good, but the same every day. We stayed here for 4 days, a bit of variety would have been nice. The space around the house and the pool looks a bit untidy. The garden is not well maintained. The owner is very friendly and gave a good tip on how to take the bus to Florence from Tavarnuzze. Great base to visit Florence, among other things.

We stayed at La Fonte del Machiavelli for two nights and we had a great time. The location of the property is surrounded by greenery, facing vineyards and with a view of the valley. The garden is very well maintained and it's a pleasure to take a stroll in it. The property exudes an atmosphere of an ancient farmhouse and history, well narrated by the manager. The cleanliness is truly top-notch, from the towels to the fresh scent in the rooms upon return. If we were to return to the area, it will always be the first place we look for.

It has a fantastic location and excellent conditions to rest. The pool has a surrounding with a beautiful countryside. The delicious breakfast served on the terrace with tranquility and an overview of the poetic Tuscany. With a very remarkable historical reference, because during Niccolò Machiavelli's exile in 1513, the book "The Prince" was probably written in his family house near this farm. Manuela.

Magnificent place, very well maintained, with perfect hospitality. Only the dirt access road deserves improvement. But once arrived, it is only happiness. We had a wonderful stay in the heart of Tuscany and we wish to be able to return soon. An address to keep and to share.

Bonjour, je m'excuse pour le retard dans la réponse, merci pour l'examen, il est juste en bas de la rue a été une longue pratique commune qui nous a donné aucune chance de le fixer définitivement, rendant le travail continu sans avoir à rien parce que c'était juste un «averse revint pire qu'avant, maintenant que nous avons résolu le problème, après 7 ans de la ville nous a donné la permission de faire la route en béton avec un grain de couleur jaune, rendant la manière la plus appropriée de faire une promenade pittoresque, et parcourue par voiture ou vélo en toute sécurité avec des voitures à faible ou vélo de rue. Excellent bed and breakfast located in a fantastic position, just 10 kilometers from Florence. The only suggestion is to make the access road to the bed and breakfast more passable for all types of cars; otherwise, notify that the path is a bit rough and a low car has great difficulty not scraping the bottom numerous times. It would only take adding gravel to the holes and making everything a little more uniform. Otherwise, it is impeccable without any kind of observation or advice.

Buon giorno, mi scuso per il ritardo nella risposta, grazie per la recensione, ha ragione per la strada è stata una lunga pratica comunale che non ci dava la possibilità di sistemarla in modo definitivo, facendo continui lavori senza arrivare a niente perché appena veniva un'acquazzone ritornava peggio di prima, oggi abbiamo risolto il problema, dopo 7 anni il comune ci ha dato il permesso di fare la strada in cemento con graniglia colorata gialla, rendendo la strada adatta per fare una passeggiata panoramica, e percorribile in macchina o in moto in tutta sicurezza anche con macchine basse o moto da strada.
