In 2017, after nearly two decades in London, we decided to move back to Italy, away from the metropolis to find a calmer, more tranquil life to bring up our daughter Alice. That was when the idea behind La casa di Alice B&B was born.

Apart from our years in London we spent three years traveling and volunteering in South East Asia and Peru (the first sign that the big city was no longer for us). We spent several months teaching English in Thailand and Vietnam and thanks to us there are hundreds of rural Thai and Vietnamese children speaking English with an Italian accent!
We then travelled to Peru where we lived in a rural Andean village helping the locals with various projects as well as teaching English. Through our many adventures we came to realize that travel is an experience that can profoundly change your life.

Having travelled in many places and finding ourselves in foreign lands looking for what to do and where to spend the night, we have a first hand experience of the difficulties that can be experienced when going abroad.

We want to make your holiday as easy and enjoyable as possible, so do not be embarrassed to ask for anything, from wanting to know what events are around at the time of your visit, to where to go, or what to eat, to what kind of nappies and formula are available in Italy! We are here to help.

This property allowed us to spend an excellent week of vacation. Caterina and Francesco's hospitality is priceless. They were kind and hospitable and they promptly helped us with a problem with our car. They also gave us many tips to make the most of exploring an area we didn't know. The property is pleasant, with a fantastic view and many small spaces to use for finding relaxation and peace. We found the pool invaluable for cooling off and finding peace.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at this lovely B&B. The view is fantastic, the hostess very friendly and helpful. There are a few restaurants within walking distance and it is a great base for trips in the region. Although we usually never return to the same place, we will definitely come back here in the future. Thank you Caterina.

Perfect place for when you want to visit the coast, visit Lucca, Pisa and so on. Nice view from the hill, swimming pool and spacious rooms. A friendly host and a hiking route starting right behind the house. I highly recommend this place!

We would certainly recommend this B&B. The room with a balcony was very nice. The host was very pleasant. Unlike many other B&Bs, where you get a code to a keybox or perhaps only brief contact with the host, in Casa d'Alice the very kind host, Catarina, lived in the house, welcomed us, and was there if needed. Yet she was unobtrusive and let us feel welcome and free. The place had a nice garden with a swimming pool. The breakfast was good and complete, unlike in most Italian B&Bs. Breakfast was served on a large balcony with a wonderful view over the valley of Camaiore. There were two good restaurants within short walking distance of the house. We really enjoyed our stay.

Casa di Alice in Montemagno is a wonderful accommodation from which you can take great excursions to many sights. We especially enjoyed the towns of Pisa, Lucca and Pietrasanta. La Casa di Alice is spectacular for a relaxed holiday by the pool,for reading a book,for basking in the sun,for admiring the view of the hills in Camaiore and for enjoying the sunset. We stayed in Room Gracie (Family Room #1) on the top floor (two flights of stairs) and it was great. It was a mini apartment with two rooms and three very comfy beds,both rooms with air conditioning and a smart TV (Netflix,Disney+,HBO,etc.),a full bathroom and a mini-fridge. The place was big enough for the three of us and our dog. It also included a kettle and tea/coffee. Breakfast was good and abundant,with views of the hills. Caterina always checked that we had everything we needed and gave us tips about what to see and where to go in the area. Parking is available on the property,which is fenced,so it is very secure. We have only words of praise for Caterina's place;she even gave treats to our dog,Tosca. We enjoyed every moment,even in a 38 degrees Celsius Tuscan summer. Thank you,thank you,thank you. Don't forget to dine at Le Meraviglie (the orecchiette Versilia are delicious) and visit Tenuta Mareli for wine tasting;both are less than 300 m away.

I have never seen a B&B managed so well. The room was stunning, very spacious, and the cleanliness exceptional. Caterina, the owner, gives her all to her work. She pampers you and has attentions never found in other places. There is a spectacular view of the valley and there is also a very clean pool. I can't wait to return.

Catharina is a very attentive and caring host. She is very welcoming, she helps you if needed for your reservations, your travels, or to find a suitable outing. The house is very clean, the cleaning is done every day. She never stops! Thank you again for taking the time for us even though we did not understand everything. Finally, you have nearby a restaurant with a very good quality-price ratio, a very beautiful waterfall where you can swim in hot weather, a producer of organic wine and olive oil. You have everything you need to have a nice holiday in addition to Pisa, Lucca, and Torre del Lago.

If you are looking for a 5-star luxury beach hotel, this is not the place. However, this hotel stands out for its idyllic location and very warm hosts. The charming rooms are equipped with air conditioning, which ensures a pleasant stay. The outdoor pool and the numerous seating areas around the house or on the balcony on the first floor invite you to relax. Particularly noteworthy is the pet-friendliness of the hotel - here, four-legged friends are welcome at no additional cost. Another plus point is the free parking directly in the courtyard, where the car can be safely parked. The breakfast buffet is sufficient and rich for the size of the accommodation. Particularly delicious is the fresh, homemade cake. The hostess strives lovingly and respectfully to fulfill every wish and gives numerous recommendations for activities in the region in the morning. Those who appreciate a family and loving atmosphere are in the right place here. We will gladly come back.

I've been coming back to this B&B for 4 years now. The reason is simple, the location is perfect if you want to go to the beach. In 15 minutes by car, you're at the beach, and if you want to walk, just put on your walking shoes and from the garden, you can take the Via Francigena path that passes right behind the property. During the hot hours of the day, you can come back and take a nice swim in the pool in the shade of the cypress trees and enjoy the breeze from the position on the hills of Mintemagno. It's always cool during the day and at night you can close the window while down by the sea it's sweltering (there are always 7/10 degrees less than in Lido di Camaiore). From the pool, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the valley below. The rooms are spacious and clean. Fantastic and abundant breakfast, all with the courtesy and availability of the property owner; not to be overlooked is the parking space available in the garden for the entire stay. The ideal vacation.

La Casa di Alice, the beautifully renovated house, is located on a hill and has a great view over the valley. The room was very clean, it was even heated upon our arrival. We will gladly come back!

Everything was perfect, very friendly service. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast also includes cold cuts/cheese, which is not common in Italy. The only negative aspect could be the poor soundproofing of the house.

Wonderful structure in an enchanting setting. We met Caterina, the owner, whom we thank for the welcome and availability. Absolutely recommended also because of its strategic position to visit the beauties of Tuscany. The hilly position also allows for a more ventilated and pleasant climate compared to the plain, while still being close to the sea.
