Description
The Bed & Breakfast “La Borraina” is a charming and characteristic Tuscan country-style house just a few minutes from Florence, surrounded by lush olive groves and vineyards, and it is also a place rich in history. According to an ancient legend passed down from generation to generation, in this location was established a convent by Franciscan friars who, loyal to the principle “ora et labora”, were dedicated to agriculture and livestock farming.
Most probably here were located the granary and the barn while, almost in the center of the olive grove, there were subterranean rooms used to keep cheeses, meats and butter cool and fresh. And it is right the conservation of the butter that gave rise to the name “La Borraina”. Later it has been inhabited by farmers who produced olive oil and wine as well as bread for the whole community thanks to a capable wood-fired oven situated under the loggia that is still in use today.

I stayed at this property for one night. If I were Bruno Barbieri, I would have some complaints. According to the rate card on the website, I was supposed to pay €60 for a single room, but I paid €70. The website mentions multiple bathrooms, but I only saw one shared bathroom. Luckily, I was the only guest, but I found more than one hair in the shower. The room was clean, but the TV only had Rai channels. If there are issues with the terrestrial signal, a satellite decoder should be installed. As for breakfast, I don't expect much, but I only found hot milk, hot water, packaged snacks, and no homemade pastries. The coffee machine was there, but there were no capsules in the afternoon. A coffee should always be offered, and a capsule doesn't cost much. Lastly, there was no fridge in the room or shared area, and the water was at room temperature. If I were not Bruno Barbieri, a judge of hotels, my rating would be quite low. Sorry.

Buongiorno, innanzitutto se desiderava avere il frigo bar in camera e altri extra forse avrebbe dovuto soggiornare in un hotel da 3 o 4 stelle e non in un B&B . Il costo delle camera è aumentato come tutto del resto…e al momento la singola e’ a 70 € a notte. Dubito abbia trovato capelli in bagno, abbiamo il massimo punteggio come pulizia per la nostra struttura. Se desiderava un caffè al suo arrivo, bastava chiederlo…a me onestamente non hanno mai offerto caffè nemmeno quando ho soggiornato in hotel di un certo livello. Per quanto riguarda la colazione, sono stata quasi io ad insistere per portargliela, in quanto lei mi ha fatto più volte capire che le sarebbe bastato un caffè perché usciva molto presto per la gara. Comunque la prossima volta le consiglio un hotel 4 stelle in centro a Firenze. Buona giornata.

Nice room in a lovely property. Friendly welcome but pricing policy needs to be reviewed: fluctuating prices not always very clear (70 then 80 euros).
