We’d like to say that overall, everything was wonderful. A beautiful house in the heart of Tuscany, close to charming towns and popular tourist spots. There are wineries, restaurants, and shops nearby, which made exploring the area easy and enjoyable.\nWe especially loved the pool!\n\nHowever, there were a few things that, unfortunately, slightly affected our experience. Maybe it was just our personal perception, but still:\nWhile staying in a private home, you naturally hope for some interaction with the hosts — a warm welcome, a bit of conversation, maybe some local tips or stories. Unfortunately, during our stay, we only spoke with the hosts three times: when we arrived, when they told us about some maintenance work planned in our apartment, and when we were checking out.\n\nLanguage wasn’t a barrier at all — in fact, we had lovely experiences in other places where people didn’t speak English at all, and just used Google Translate with a smile. That kind of effort really creates a special atmosphere.\n\nAnother thing we found frustrating was that no one informed us in advance that there would be electrical work during our stay, including access to our apartment in the early morning. Of course, we understand that we are just guests and maintenance has to be done — but it would have been much more respectful to let us know ahead of time, so we could be prepared when someone arrived at 8:30 in the morning to turn off the power and start wiring work.\n\nOverall, we felt like the whole experience was a bit... impersonal. Like everything was just “business as usual,” without the warmth or Italian hospitality we had hoped for. A small gesture — even something as simple as a bottle of local wine (3–5 euros!) — would have gone a long way to make up for the inconvenience and left a much better impression.\n\nOne last thing — smoking on the property, especially right under our windows, was an issue. We’re a non-smoking family, and in an old villa where air conditioning is understandably difficult or impossible to install, everyone sleeps with the windows open. Unfortunately, our neighbors (a family from Germany) sat outside right below our bedroom window every night until midnight, talking and smoking. The smoke filled our room, which was really unpleasant.

Selena and her family’s home was the best choice we could possibly make for exploring Tuscany. The place is authentic, beautiful, very calm, perfectly located. The apartment has all that one can need for a short or long stay. The hosts are really nice and very discreet people, very kind and helpful. The whole place has a real Tuscany feel! Beautiful vistas and very kind and helpful owners, will definitely return!

The apartment was comfortable and well furnished. It is reached by a poorly indicated dirt road. In this period of intense heat, the lack of air conditioning was heavy.

Very friendly and polite host, even though we happened to arrive several hours later than scheduled (Sorry again, Noemi!). Well-furnished building surrounded only by fields. A very nice and quiet place. Excellent breakfast, much better than the ones usually served in Italy. Be sure to try the tomatoes from own cultivation! There are two bathrooms for three rooms, sharing them was no problem at all. Parking right in front of the door.\n\nRecommendation!

Beautiful location and view! Special hospitality.

Beautiful weekend. We were a group of 17 people, Mrs. Selene gave us 3 adjacent apartments, all three very beautiful and clean. Although the structure is a bit isolated, its location allowed us to reach the city of Lucca in a short time and we saw that other points of interest were also easily reachable. Definitely a structure I recommend and if there will be the opportunity, I will return to stay there.

This was our second visit to Il Poggetto. Located in beautiful countryside, the accommodation is on the ground floor of a country house set in secluded gardens. The newly-furnished apartments are tastefully decorated with modern facilities. The owners were very welcoming and could not do enough to make sure we enjoyed our stay there. We would definitely recommend Il Poggetto to anyone looking for a relaxing country location.

I had a really great time at Il Poggetto, a beautiful Tuscan farmhouse restored with care and managed by wonderful people. Absolutely recommended.
