Description
Il Poggetto is an enchanting 19th century country house which will not fail to charm you. The appartment for let has been built into the portico of the old farmhouse where the current owners live. The property is situated on the top of a hill and is surrounded by 5000 square metres of parkland. It is a peaceful place layng out of the main urban centres, but not close to the many remarkable naturalistic and artistic attractions in the area. In the garden there is a swimming pool, childrens play area, small wood and spaces specially designed and equipped for eating outside under pergolas hanging with wisteria and grape vines. It is an ideal place for a totally relaxing holiday or as a base from which to visit all the fascinating attractions of the area. Il Poggetto is strategically placed regarding all the main communication routes; the traveller can move around easily, using both their own transport and public transport services. There is a regular bus service connecting Il Poggetto to Pisa railway station in approximately 45 minutes. Other places may be reached by bicycles which are available for use to all residents. And for those who love walking or trekking there are many sites to be visited on foot. Crespina is situated in a peaceful area overlooking rolling hills. It's not far from the most famous Tuscan sea resorts and ports where ferries depart for the peninsula's nearby islands. And the major tourist centres of Pisa, Lucca, Florence and Siena are not far away. It is an oasis of calm surrounded by the lush green Tuscan countryside, woodlands and areas of outstanding natural beauty. Centuries ago rich property owners from Pisa and Livorno used to build their summer residencies here because of the beauty of the surrounding countryside and of the mild climate.

Il Poggetto can be reached from the FI-PI-LI highway, taking the Lavoria exit. By following the Cucigliana-Lorenzana state road in the South direction, after approximately 5 km, you will find a junction on the left for Crespina. Continuing past the Botteghino area and climbing Via La Marca for 1 km, you will find a country road on the left that leads to the Vacation Home. The location is about 18 km away from Pisa airport, and there is a suburban bus line that connects to the city's train station.

The apartment was comfortable and well furnished. It is reached by a poorly indicated dirt road. In this period of intense heat, the lack of air conditioning was heavy.

Very friendly and polite host, even though we happened to arrive several hours later than scheduled (Sorry again, Noemi!). Well-furnished building surrounded only by fields. A very nice and quiet place. Excellent breakfast, much better than the ones usually served in Italy. Be sure to try the tomatoes from own cultivation! There are two bathrooms for three rooms, sharing them was no problem at all. Parking right in front of the door.\n\nRecommendation!

Beautiful weekend. We were a group of 17 people, Mrs. Selene gave us 3 adjacent apartments, all three very beautiful and clean. Although the structure is a bit isolated, its location allowed us to reach the city of Lucca in a short time and we saw that other points of interest were also easily reachable. Definitely a structure I recommend and if there will be the opportunity, I will return to stay there.

This was our second visit to Il Poggetto. Located in beautiful countryside the accommodation is in the ground floor of a country house set in secluded gardens. The newly-furnished apartments are tastefully decorated with modern facilities. The owners were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed our stay there. We would definitely recommend Il Poggetto to anyone looking for a relaxing country location.
