Description

Unique and extraordinary pearls with a modern design, kept in the treasure chest of an ancient medieval village. A perfect synergy aimed at preserving the charm and characteristics of ancient architecture, without compromising the comforts and conveniences of everyday life. Spacious spaces for a unique relaxation, a complete escape from the ordinary.

The fortified village of Oliveto was founded around the year 1385, during the Florentine Republic's rule over Arezzo and its territory. Unlike the rest of the Valdichiana, which was still marshy and malarial, the land of Oliveto was "healthy and fertile," as the Florentines liked to call it. The governor of the village, driven by the Florentine Guelfs, fortified the defensive walls with two lookout towers.

The presence of the Saracini family, now only visible in the heraldic emblems outside the gate of the Oliveto castle, has deeply marked the history of the village. Despite the difficulties faced by the Ghibelline faction in Arezzo, members of the Saracini family obtained prominent positions in the Papal State and high offices in the service of the Marquises of Ferrara.

The B&B Fondaco del Moro has decided to recover the coat of arms of the ancient Saracini family as a symbol of the structure, thus honoring the history and heritage of the village. We invite you to discover this small historic and modern gem, where ancient charm meets contemporary comfort. Also, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Oliveto cemetery, just outside the village, and pay tribute to the tomb of Muriel Spark, the writer who, inspired by the beauty of the place, left an indelible mark in 20th-century literature.

Gentile Nicola, oltre al fatto che tutte le nostre torte sono artigianali, acquistate in una ditta a qui vicino, le ricorderei che non è possibile non bed and breakfast produrre alimenti in casa, sia per un discorso di igiene che per un discorso di sicurezza degli spazi. Comunque a colazione è composta da tre tipi di torta, pane affettati, formaggi, yogurt, biscotti, fette, biscottate, marmellate, crema, spalmabili di vario genere, succhi di frutta, burro, cracker e biscotti con confettura di mele. We stayed at Fondaco del Moro in Oliveto; it is a distributed B&B. The property is located within the walls of this hamlet and is immersed in the greenery of the Tuscan hills, away from traffic and the city's hustle and bustle. We stayed in room 5, located on the 2nd floor with no elevator. The room is equipped with all comforts. For any needs simply contact the number and the hosts are very helpful. It was an excellent choice, highly recommended.

Scenic location, furnished in impeccable style. The reservation staff is very helpful and efficient, but there is never anyone on site, so I cannot evaluate them. The breakfast is not bad; it would be helpful if the tables were assigned to each room: with four tables and five rooms, we found all the tables occupied and had to clear other people's things and clean the table somehow with a napkin. Nothing serious, but if a table were assigned to each room everyone would have their own clean table and it would be nicer. This is meant as constructive feedback.

Grazie mille per la sua gentile recensione. ci dispiace molto per la situazione della sala colazione. non abbiamo mai numerato o diviso i tavoli in quanto in realtà i tavoli della sala colazione sono 5 (tre da 2 persone e 2 da 4 persone). purtroppo qualche ospite deve essere stato ineducato e si è "allargato" dove non doveva stare. ci dispiace molto che per colpa di qualche maleducato abbiate dovuto subire un disservizio. il vostro consiglio è comunque utile e potremmo provare a "dividere" i tavoli per camera, sperando che questo limiti l'inciviltà di certi ospiti.

A suggestive structure but not very comfortable. Even my ground floor room had three steep steps without a handrail. To take a shower, you had to step down one step. Not recommended for people with mobility issues. The safe was not working. Very comfortable bed.

Il nostro b&b è stato costruito all'interno di una struttura storica e La camera al piano terra comunque ha dei dislivelli. Lei però ci aveva detto che andava comunque bene. Noi abbiamo fatto di tutto per ospitarla e spiegarle la nostra situazione, ma penso che il problema non sia la nostra struttura ma le sue necessità che non potevano essere soddisfatte malgrado foto, descrizioni e nostre indicazioni. Per la Cassaforte semplicemente si erano scaricate le batterie ed è stata nostra premura sostituirle il giorno seguente. Ci dispiace leggere questa recensione ma lei ha bisogno di una struttura con servizi che noi non possiamo offrire e il suo giudizio e punteggio ci sembra davvero eccessivamente severo, soprattutto a fronte di quanto pagato e fatto per accoglierla.

This little gem is located in a tiny village of 25 inhabitants in the Tuscan hills. Upon arrival, one feels at peace with the world. We appreciated the attention to detail and the simple elegance of the structure, it was a pity to leave. It only lacks human presence, as it is managed from a distance. A justifiable choice. We mainly felt it at breakfast, preparing our drinks with a machine, but this is not meant to be a criticism, for many it could also represent a sense of freedom. Excellent value for money, we would gladly return.

Se voleva soggiornare in un paese con ristoranti, bar e negozi poteva scegliere località più grandi. Inoltre le cassette sono esclusivamente per gli ospiti che, come lei, prenotano all'ultimo minuto oppure non ci comunicano l'orario di arrivo. Purtroppo siamo una piccola struttura e non possiamo garantire la presenza di personale 24 ore su 24. Siete comunque stati una notte sola.

Everything is well organized. The property is located within a small, excellently maintained and cared for village, very close to Arezzo. The rooms, well-kept and very clean, are tastefully furnished, as are the common areas, with beautiful ceilings and exposed beams. The spaces are very clean and well-kept, our room was not particularly bright, but the stay was still very pleasant. The village is neat and quiet, the only sound is that of the bell. The breakfast is a bit ordinary, with all packaged products. We never encountered any of the managers, everything, from entering the room to breakfast, was usable independently or automated. A true discovery. A charming place run with love and great attention. Not even that difficult to reach coming off the highway (Arezzo) in the middle of the night due to a delay in the journey caused by a serious accident on the highway. Kindness and competence of the manager. Very comfortable beds and a very pleasant environment, sober but elegant. Excellent value for money. Extreme kindness and availability during the booking phase. Cleanliness and elegance of the spacious rooms. Simplicity and autonomy of the check-in and access procedures. Advantageous cost. Convenient distance (by car) from Arezzo. Truly the only downside - it must be said - is a below-standard breakfast and no staff. Some difficulties with the air conditioning but nothing serious. That said, we have returned now and we will definitely return.

The breakfast is lacking in savory options and the absence of the brioche that Italians appreciate very much. I would also add Nutella to the jams and the presence of a person in the morning during breakfast hours (for example, from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM) would be appreciated by me. Not because it needs to be served, but for any requests/information.

Fascinating place, kind and helpful host, many friendly cats to welcome you. Everything went well for our needs. I would improve the breakfast, it was not a negative service, but definitely a bit limited and a little cold. Naturally, the judgment is subjective, as always in a review. We will definitely return if we find ourselves in the area again.

The structure is very nice and welcoming in a truly suggestive place. Personally, I would have liked more lighting (especially in the bathroom) and I would suggest mosquito nets on the windows, finally the air conditioners are too noisy and at night you are forced to turn them off if you want to rest. Max was excellent and super helpful, I rate him 10! For breakfast, I suggest more variety in the choice. Overall, it's fine for a couple of nights.

Per il condizionatore vi suggerisco di impostarlo sulla funzione notturna, dove si abbassa la potenza della ventola e rinfresca adeguatamente ma senza rumore. Excellent value for money. The manager is very kind and available to provide information. Managing the booking independently is easy. Large room, well lit and airy. Very clean. Bed really comfortable. As a celiac, I would ask for something more (different brand) for breakfast, but it is still a good starting point.
