Description

Il Giglio is situated in the historic center of Pienza, in a Renaissance Palace, just steps away from Piazza Pio II and Palazzo Piccolomini, which can be seen from some rooms. The attic loft offers, from its terrace, one of the most incredible views of the Val d'Orcia.

The Giglio, renovated and furnished with care, reveal the characteristics of the Tuscan style: terracotta floors, antique decorations and frescoes, wood-beamed ceilings. All units have a TV, a modern private bathroom with shower and/or bath tube, toiletries, heating, air conditioned, mini bar, free wi fi. The apartments have a fully equipped kitchen and living-room. Daily clearing and daily change towels.

The last renovation has enhanced Il Giglio a wellness cave with sauna, whirlpool, chromotherapy, turkish bath shower, aromatherapy to give its guests a holiday not only rich in nature, culture and art but also for relaxation and wellness. Exclusive use (30 euro for the couple/one hour)

Il Guglio was perfect for us. We wanted a location that was easily accessible to the parking lots. There is one just outside the ZTL and the B&B is only a few blocks in, so a 10-minute walk. This made it easy for us to go out each day on excursions to other towns in Val d'Orcia. We saw our hostess, Roberta, all over town involved in the festivities that were going on over the weekend. It was nice to see that she is so involved in the community and not an absentee landlord. Breakfast (yogurt, cereal, packaged pastries, fruit) was left each day in the room fridge and an in-room coffee service. Not the fanciest breakfast, but it provided enough calories to get us on our way without feeling blah from eating non-nutritious food. Pienza is small enough that we were near all restaurants and she had a nice list of recommendations. Our choices were all on her list and were excellent.

Excellent property in the center of Pienza, from which everything is easily accessible. Positive points: the tranquility, the location and the cleanliness of the property. The restoration is simple but well done; you can feel and experience the history of that accommodation, which for me is an added value. Breakfast is prepared in the room and is a bit inconvenient, but you can easily adapt and in the end it is absolutely acceptable. To improve: the bed base, as it is a bit too soft (but this is a personal opinion).

Excellent stay, wonderful location inside the walls of Pienza. I would return without hesitation. You should only take into account that parking is outside the walls, the only inconvenience.

It is unthinkable to have to climb 53 very steep stairs every time to reach the room, in an attic where in some places you have to be careful not to hit your head. The shower's location about half a meter from the bed is not great. Breakfast is practically nonexistent. Otherwise the accommodation is decent, although the little windows are very small (about 30x40 cm). The location is excellent, in the historic center. The owner is very kind, although we saw her for only three minutes on arrival and then she disappeared. At check-out a young woman showed up; I think she was the daughter because she resembled her, and I had never seen her before.

Stayed three nights on the top floor in the Terrazzo Panoramico room with a balcony. The view over the city was great, but the ceiling beams in the room were low and you could hit your head when moving around. Carrying suitcases to the top floor up the narrow stairs was not easy. The balcony had plants with an irrigation system that did not work, so all the plants were dead. Breakfast was very simple: hard bread, marmalade and butter. There was orange juice in the fridge, milk and yoghurt. The room and bathroom were nice but slightly impractical. The host showed no interest in us and only performed a formal check-in/check-out. Pienza is entirely touristy with expensive parking.

The shower is a bit uncomfortable, about 2 meters high, but since it is located under the staircase leading to the upper floor you have to stoop to avoid hitting your head on the step. Roberta is very kind and extremely helpful. If the weather allows, the sunrise and sunset from the third-floor apartment are incredible. Breakfast is decent but has too much sugar.

My girlfriend and I redeemed a Smartbox and booked at this property. It said 'double room with whirlpool bathtub', but in reality it was a wonderful, new and newly renovated suite. The suite was spacious and comfortable, beautiful. The only drawbacks: the sauna must be paid 50 € to be turned on; the whirlpool must be turned on by calling reception; the breakfast and the restaurant are nothing special.

There is not much to say. The property is very welcoming and centrally located in Pienza. The view from the loft's terrace is very beautiful and the loft itself is very spacious and cozy. In my opinion the breakfast could be improved; overall, it was an excellent stay.

Good morning. The website should include a clarification about breakfast, because it was misleading for us; if it had been specified we would have booked elsewhere. The mattress should be replaced and the minibar should be serviced because it is too noisy. Nothing to complain about regarding cleanliness and the bathroom essentials. Excellent location. Regards.

We had the best stay at Il Giglio while in Pienza! The room was quaint and cozy! Breakfast was offered daily in the room, and there was espresso! Roberta was amazing! She was very helpful during check-in, but otherwise left you alone! The location is unmatched, very close to everything! Highly recommend if you’re staying in Pienza!

In the center of the wonderful Pienza, the rooms are tastefully furnished and equipped with everything necessary, actually even more! Everything needed for a nice breakfast is available in the room. The only downside is that you can hear voices and noises from the upper rooms.

Exceptional location for visiting the Val D'Orcia. The couple's spa is fantastic (small but very beautiful and efficient). Impeccable cleanliness. I recommend to the manager: changing the method for breakfast would require a specially made small table and at least the addition of fresh bread and a croissant.

A truly magical place: inside the walls of Pienza, two minutes from Palazzo Piccolomini, with a spectacular view of the rooftops and the sunset. Room number five is a real gem: exposed beams, windows and little windows, a small balcony with views and a bathroom that rivaled a spa. Premise is necessary. My review aims to be constructive and I do not want to denigrate anyone's work. The breakfast, while appreciating the possibility of preparing something in the room, I would have liked a small buffet of local products. The website clearly states that pets are not allowed, but in the room next to ours there was a dog. It did not bother us, but if we could have brought the dog we would have done so as well. Then we had a problem, unforeseen, I hope, with the bathtub that we tried to fill, but after only 10 cm of water level it started leaking. We deliberately did not call anyone because it was evening, but at check-out there was no one even to say goodbye.

Located in a central position, very nice and clean, the owner is very helpful and generous with advice. The house is located in the historic center of Pienza so there are some restrictions, which can be overcome, given the particularity of the structure: you can only arrive on foot and few parking spaces nearby. The structure does not have, of course, the elevator and it can be difficult to climb the floors with heavy luggage. Breakfast served in the room at the time chosen by the customer is an excellent solution, also in the room there is everything needed to prepare a coffee or a tea. Unfortunately, we cannot evaluate the spa, as it was under maintenance, but we hope next time to be able to review it.

If you like characteristic places, with a lot of history, excellent hospitality, and top-level services, choose this property. We stayed in the panoramic loft, surrounded by the roofs of the village, overlooking the hills and the sunset in front. A magical location. The room is spacious, equipped, warm, welcoming, and clean. The bathroom has a huge shower and a large whirlpool tub. It is romantic and very functional at the same time, provided with every comfort. The bed is the most comfortable I have ever rested in, apart from my own at home. The owner is a discreet and very kind presence. I recommend to all those who want to have an unforgettable experience in Val d'Orcia to stay here.

Structure in the center of Pienza in a very suggestive alley, 5 minutes walk from a free parking lot. We really appreciated the availability of the owner Roberta for the check-in time and for the excellent breakfast served in the room at the agreed time. The room was located on the top floor in an attic part of the structure, very nice and equipped with everything needed. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets very soft.

Splendid location, I suggest the loft with terrace, with spectacular view! Roberta very friendly, very clean and functional room. The only downside (overall still negligible) was the breakfast: it's great that it's brought to the room, but the products are rather industrial (from juice to yogurt, to little jams that you don't understand where they should be spread, with no bread or rusks, butter). In a "bed & breakfast", breakfast often plays a leading role, not in this case. However, the other positive elements certainly overshadow this small downside: our room (with a spectacular attached bathroom) was equipped with every comfort, tastefully furnished, very welcoming. I would definitely return to the property, thanks to Roberta for her availability!

I stayed at this B&B for 2 nights with my boyfriend and we had a great time. The apartment we booked is very cute, very clean, and equipped with everything we needed. It's new, you can see it, very well furnished and attention to detail, the mattress very comfortable. The croissants for breakfast are really good. As soon as we arrived, we found water, milk, and juice for breakfast in the fridge. The spa cave is beautiful and very relaxing, really worth it. Roberta is very kind and really helpful to meet any kind of request. I recommend it and we will definitely return. Pienza is a really nice village.

The location is right in the center of Pienza and is optimal. The location is taken care of in every detail, as well as the attention of Mrs. Roberta, always nice, kind and available to satisfy her customers. The grace she offers is attentive as well as all the details that act as a choreography to the entire structure. Definitely recommend and I will return.

Great B&B in the center of Pienza. Excellent cleanliness, tastefully decorated rooms, attention to detail and to the customer, reception equipped with everything for a herbal tea at all hours. Not suitable for those who cannot climb many stairs, I believe, however, that it also has an apartment on the ground floor. Please inquire for confirmation.
