Description

This Bed and Breakfast is a family running, just renovated, located in a residential area, only 15 minutes walking time or 5 minutes by bus far from the historical center of Florence, it is easy reachable also by car.

Nearby you can find also the railway station Santa Maria Novella, the exhibition center of Fortezza da Basso, the airport, the university and Polyclinic of Careggi.

Breakfast is served in a spacious living room, which is composed of buffet with local specialties with expresso or cappuccino as you prefer.

Guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful panoramic terrace where you can have a relax!

I have studied English, French, and Spanish.

For many years, I worked in hotels and in 2008, my husband Lorenzo and I decided to open Il Grillo di Firenze.

I have always had a passion for hosting and getting to know people from all over the world!

We are at the corner between Via Maragliano and Via Doni

Coming from Santa Maria Novella railway station (city centre) :
Go to the bus stop called “Stazione Scalette”.
Take bus 22 direction of Novoli.
Or bus 57 direction of Sesto Fiorentino.
Get off at the Busoni bus stop.

By car
From the highway A1 (direction Firenze), and take the exit Firenze Nord,
from here take the A11 motorway (Firenze - Pisa Nord) : exit at gate Peretola.

Our B&B is not in the limited traffic zone, so you can drive to here and
you can park your car in the street nearby in the blue line
(you pay Euro 1, 50 per hour from 8: 00 am to 8: 00 pm, it is free night and holidays).
We have also a special tourist park Euro 10, 00 per all day (24h-street parking).
We have agreements with a garage next door at Euro 15
per day (parking by reservation-guarded parking)

The host was really a wonderful person. He welcomed us with a lovely smile and explained the sightseeing advice for Florence using a map to indicate nearby supermarkets and restaurants. When he realized that our departure time was early and we wouldn't make it for breakfast, he left a simple breakfast set in the room in advance. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location was convenient to reach the airport by tram. I would recommend it to everyone.

Overall very good, well connected to the center with tram T2 and the train station. Spacious room, everything very clean, new, and the owners very kind explaining everything in detail. Personally, regarding the mattresses, as they may be comfortable for others, they were too soft for us and the pillows were very thin. We asked for more pillows and they provided them. If you are tall, in my case 185 cm, my feet touched the metal at the end of the bed. The breakfast was good.

My family and I stayed at the B&B "Il Grillo di Firenze" for one night. My two-year-old children were super happy to be able to run and play on the veranda. The tram stop just a few steps from the accommodation allowed us to reach the city center in just over 5 minutes. For those like us looking for accommodation in Florence for medical visits, I add that the structure is very close to Meyer and Careggi. Thank you for the hospitality.

The accommodation is very welcoming, clean, and well-organized. Every morning the room was cleaned and the beds were made. The breakfast is good and abundant. I stayed with my family and my boyfriend during the Easter weekend. Lorenzo, the owner, welcomed us making us feel comfortable right away. He made himself available for us on everything. Delicious breakfast and the place is very clean, there were also other guests with whom we occasionally exchanged some small talk. The location of the place is excellent, not right in the center of Florence (let's say more residential area) but it's perfect because it's in a quiet area and close to the tram stop to reach the central station and the city center. If I were to return to Florence, I wouldn't waste time looking for other places to stay and I would go back directly to the Grillo di Firenze. :)

The location is very convenient as it is quite close to the T2 tram stop, making it easy to get there from both the SMN station and the airport. Super nice and helpful hosts, Lara takes time to explain you the best places to go. The location is easily accessible by tram or on foot, the area is quiet. I had a great stay and will definitely go there again when in Florence. Side note: As in other B&Bs in Italy, it's good to bring earplugs.

I stayed at this property for 2 nights and I had a really great time. It is located on the sixth floor of a residential building with an elevator (a bit dated but functional), in a non-central area but full of shops and close to public transport, with the tram stop just a 5-minute walk away. The managers are very kind and available for any need. My double room had all the comforts stated in the description, and the cleanliness was excellent. In the morning, there is a truly abundant breakfast, sweet but also savory. Very positive experience, I would gladly return.

Lara is an incredibly friendly and warm hostess. After arrival, she explained in detail the city's attractions and all the details about the accommodation. The B&B rooms are modern, functional, and very clean. The homely atmosphere during breakfast makes the stay very personal and is absolutely unique. The hostess devotes a lot of time to her guests and visibly enjoys the personal contact with them. I will gladly come back and can highly recommend the accommodation!

This property was a wonderful place to stay. The host was extremely helpful and had wonderful recommendations. The balcony was refreshing and the rooms clean and comfortable. Being a block from the tram made it very convenient to down town Florence without having to worry about the ZTL. We loved our stay here.

The structure is located near the tram stop, a few minutes from the center. Being outside the ZTL area, you can easily reach it by car and it is easy to find parking. We used the tram for getting around, one passes every 5 minutes. The rooms are clean, with air conditioning and smart TV. The owner is very kind, he recommended the places to see, provided maps and museum schedules. Ideal environment for families, very quiet and well-kept. We will return in autumn hoping that beautiful Florence will be able to recover. The crisis has shaken the city.

A nice room with a terrace. The owner nice, kind, cute and helpful. There was air conditioning, comfortable bed, bathroom in the room, varied and abundant breakfast. Not very close to the center, which we still reached on foot, but for a business stay it is perfect.

The manager is really very helpful for every request. Upon arrival, he also provided us with many useful indications. The location is favorable to reach the Visarno Hippodrome on foot in a short time for concerts and is also close to the station, reachable in 15-20 minutes on foot or by public transport. The room and bathroom were clean, the room was air-conditioned, and the beds comfortable. The common areas and the terrace were equipped and quite spacious. Our room was close to the common breakfast area and the entrance. Every slight noise and people talking could be heard. There was not good sound insulation. Overall positive experience.

Breakfast is very subjective. Surely the cappuccino was not the one I am used to, but every place has its own traditions and cappuccinos. The choice was quite diversified, the quantity is surely linked to the number of guests. The structure is chosen based on one's own needs and therefore the location is generally always optimal. I would have liked to have a full-length mirror, even inside a wardrobe door, but I understand that it is definitely a minor issue for most men. However, the availability of the managers was superb. They accommodated my schedule in a kind and friendly manner without causing me any difficulties. Until next time.

Hearty congratulations to Mr. Lorenzo for his kindness and availability. The rooms are very cozy and clean, with a magnificent terrace. The property is in a strategic location very close to the center and bus stops, I definitely recommend it to everyone.
