B&B Palazzi

B&B Palazzi is located in the Castello area in a 15th-century dwelling of historical and artistic interest. It's a charming and romantic place situated at the foot of Monte Morello, in an area of high landscape value due to the presence of magnificent Medici Villas, recently recognized and listed (June 23, 2013) as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These villas are surrounded by the beautiful hills of Florence and Monte Morello, which offer many hiking trails immersed in nature.

The property is away from the chaotic and busy urban traffic, far from the cemented outskirts, offering a relaxing and unforgettable stay in the green city of Florence. Despite being in the city, you will be immersed in the typical tranquility and silence of small urban villages.

The most important nearby Medici Villas are Villa Di Castello (or Villa Reale Di Castello), restored by Vasari and surrounded by a magnificent garden designed by Tribolo, home to the Accademia della Crusca and the Opera del Vocabolario Italiano; Villa Della Petraia, considered one of the jewels of the city for its excellent precious pictorial decorations, antique furnishings, and its happy position in the landscape; Villa Corsini, a valuable Baroque villa, of which our bed and breakfast was an annex.

Villa Reale Di Careggi, acquired by the Medici family in the first half of the 15th century and renovated by Michelozzo for Cosimo Il Vecchio, who died here in 1464, is just a 10-minute drive away (3 km).

The area is also rich in other important historical and architectural presences, such as Villa Il Pozzino, Villa La Quiete, and the famous Villa Del Bel Riposo, where the writer Carlo Lorenzini, also known as "Collodi," lived for a long time, hosted by his brother. He certainly drew inspiration from these places and their inhabitants for the creation of his literary masterpiece "Pinocchio," whose adventures have been translated into many languages and known all over the world. In his honor, the municipality of Florence placed a commemorative plaque on April 27, 2007, at the entrance of the villa, which is now a private residence.

Since 1974, the famous Academia Della Crusca, an Italian institution that gathers scholars and experts in Italian linguistics and philology, has been located at the Medici Villa of Castello. It represents one of the most prestigious linguistic institutions in Italy and the world.

Castello is also the birthplace of the great Florentine poet Mario Luzi, who returned to the local church of S. Michele a Castello for eternal rest.

Despite the peaceful location away from the traffic, the bus stop ATAF "SESTESE 2" (Line 28 and 2) is only a 5-minute walk away from the property, connecting you to the TRAMVIA in p. zza Dalmazia, which will take you to the city center in just a few minutes.
