Description

The newly renovated B&B l'Olivo is 15 minutes walk from Central Station and 20 minutes by walk from the main attractions of the city. It is in a strategic position both to visit the historic center and to go to the Fortezza da Basso, where many international fairs are held such as Pitti Immagine, craft exhibition and many others (2 min walk), at the Congress Center (5 min a walk), to the Careggi Hospital Complex (13 min tram line 1).

Despite being so close to the historic center, we are outside the limited traffic area (ZTL), and it is possible to reach us by car. Thanks to an agreement with the Municipality, we offer our guests the opportunity to park on the street at a discounted rate of 10 euros for 24 hours, free on holidays.

All rooms overlook our private garden ensuring a peaceful stay away from the confusion.

The B&B offers a rich homemade breakfast served in our common room or in our garden.

Hello everyone! My name is Bruno and I am 38 years old. I opened a B&B 9 years ago for three main reasons: the pleasure of meeting new people from all over the world, the passion for travel and the desire for intense work but with human rhythms. I have always traveled, since I was a boy, and even now that I have a wife and two small children I try to do it as much as possible. It is not my only job but I still try to devote time and attention to it to the best of my ability.

After 9 years on thi website I thought it was time to rewrite my presentation. Many things have changed but not all. The important ones do not. I still believe in B&Bs not only as a place of rest during a trip but also as a place of meeting and friendship.

From this point of view I must say that the existence of this website is a lifeline. A site that asks little and that leaves autonomy of contact between manager and guest. A portal that is not a greedy multinational but a small company of workers. A place to be protected.

I hope to host you in my B&B and to be able to help you during your stay.

The B&B l'Olivo is 15 minutes walk from the historic center. A nice scenic walk along the Arno River will lead you to the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery and Piazza Duomo.
Easily accessible also for those coming by car with cheap and convenient parking in front of the B & B. All the rooms are brand new and have a private bathroom and all comforts.
The location of the B & B is also ideal as a starting point for excursions in the beautiful Chianti or for a night out from the crowded city center and enjoy a dinner in the hills.

We stayed at this property during our trip around Italy. While it had some good points, there were a few things that made the experience less comfortable compared to other places we visited. The room was clean, but there was a strong, musty smell, like something old or damp, which made it less pleasant to stay in. The shower cabin was very small and difficult to move in, and the towels did not dry well after use. The location was about a 20–30 minute walk to the city center, and we could not find many restaurants or stores nearby, which made it a bit inconvenient. Breakfast was provided (bread, eggs, muffins, yogurt and coffee), which we appreciated, but the shared kitchen area felt cramped. All guests and the host's team used the space at the same time, which made it uncomfortable and noisy, especially in the mornings when we could not sleep past 8 a.m. Overall, the host was kind and polite, but the setup and atmosphere were not ideal for a relaxing stay.

Per quanto riguarda l'odore di muffa posso solo dire che io non l'ho sentito e nessun altro ospite in quegli stessi giorni mi ha segnalato lo stesso problema. Posso aggiungere che spesso siete usciti di camera verso le 12:00 oppure le 13:00 e quindi è successo che non potessimo effettuare il servizio di pulizia giornaliero ed aprire le finestre. Se per voi quella doccia è piccola mi dispiace, le misure sono 70*90, non è una doccia grande ma è una doccia che potreste trovare in moltissime case. Per quanto riguarda gli asciugamani non capisco esattamente il problema, voi siete stati 5 giorni e vi abbiamo cambiato l'intero set di asciugamani a metà del soggiorno. Non ci è possibile fornire asciugamani nuovi tutti i giorni né possiamo accendere il riscaldamento se fuori ci sono 25° Celsius. Per quanto riguarda la posizione è chiaramente segnalata su Google Maps, è una informazione facilmente reperibile. Da noi alla Cattedrale, Google Maps indica 21 minuti a piedi e c'è anche il tram se è necessario. Avreste tranquillamente potuto scegliere una struttura ancora più centrale se le vostre necessità erano diverse. L'aria cucina è chiaramente segnalata nelle foto come tutti gli altri spazi ed è evidente che gli altri ospiti possano fare un pochino di rumore mentre fanno colazione. Noi abbiamo solo 3 camere da 2 persone quindi al massimo ci sono state 4 persone in cucina oltre a voi. Inoltre voi avete sempre fatto colazione molto più tardi rispetto a gli altri ospiti. Forse la soluzione ideale era di soggiornare in un appartamento privato oppure in un albergo più lussuoso e ancora più centrale rispetto alla nostra struttura. E' ovvio che questo abbia costi di molto superiori ai nostri. Mi dispiace se non vi siete trovati completamente a vostro agio. Buona continuazione. Il Gestore Bruno Gabelli

Bruno and Marco are welcoming. The place is away from the chaos of the main city. Please make sure you give the gelato place just by the tram stop a try (Gelato de Medici). It's one of the best gelaterias we have had in Europe.

The host Bruno was very welcoming and accommodating. Despite having to change my check-in and check-out times due to unplanned circumstances, he was able to accommodate me to the best of his ability. The place was clean and had all the basics. Breakfast is self-served with everything in a designated spot for you in the fridge, so it's convenient and you can enjoy it at your own time.

The hosts, both Bruno and Marco, were very nice and good communicators. Both speak English well and we enjoyed the conversations with them. The property is a bit away from the major attractions but in a nice residence area and is near a trolley station and easy to go to the city center. The place was clean and quiet, and we had a good stay there.

The apartment is located about a 15-minute walk from the center and 20 minutes from the main train station. Public transport stops are in the immediate vicinity. The apartment/B&B has three rooms, a shared kitchen, and a garden, ideal for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The room is simple but very nicely furnished; it feels comfortable. The apartment is very clean. The ingredients for the simple breakfast are prepared in the refrigerator (each room has its own compartment) and consist of rusks, cornflakes, butter, jam, yogurt, and fruit. The assistance provided by Bruno and Marco is excellent, everything went wonderfully well. Conclusion: Absolutely recommended!

Lovely B&B in a quiet area of Florence. The room was clean and cozy. The breakfast was plentiful: fruits, yogurt, cereal, cookies, and pastries. Even though we didn't get the chance to meet the host, Marco, in person, he provided helpful guidance whenever necessary. My wife and I really enjoyed our short trip to Florence, and B&B L'Olivo was certainly one of the reasons why.

Our accommodation was excellent. Firstly, the cleanliness was very good, making our stay comfortable. The comfort level of the place was also very good. Secondly, the location was excellent, as it was just 300 meters from a tram station, which connects to Florence and the main points. Thirdly, the breakfast provided was very good. When we left, our host Bruno was very helpful. As our flight was very early, he organized a taxi for us. If you're looking for a well-structured and organized room that feels like home, this is the place for you. I highly recommend it and will definitely come back.

L'Olivo is located a short distance from the station (it can be reached by tram or on foot in just a few minutes) and a 15-minute walk from the center. The structure is 15 minutes from the center of Florence in a very quiet area, particularly on a very quiet street. The location of the rooms, then, at the back make them very quiet. My room was spacious and with a recently renovated bathroom with a fantastic shower. Breakfast is abundant and varied, and the room dedicated to this is also welcoming and spacious. Bruno and Marco are two special people, very hospitable and willing to help the guest in every possible way: as soon as I arrived they immediately offered me a coffee that they were preparing. The small attentions that make you feel at home... I can only recommend it also for the excellent price/quality ratio. I was there for work but I promised myself to go back for leisure.

Marco and Bruno are some of the kindest hosts I have ever had the experience of knowing. They were more than accommodating and helpful (helping me out very quickly after I accidentally locked myself out!). The property itself is gorgeous and situated so close to the city center that I could walk everywhere but the airport. The breakfast was impeccable and consisted of a healthy variety of fruit, coffee, baked goods, and yogurt, which was great because it was never too heavy or too light. The property was spotless when I arrived and never seemed dirty, which blew me away. My one and only criticism would be that the mattress I slept on was a bit stiff but for the price of the stay and everything else, I wouldn't even consider it a negative. I hope I can stay with them again next time I visit Florence and highly recommend them to any travelers!

We had a great stay at L'Olivo. It is situated outside of the crowded historical center but you can still reach it in 15 minutes by walking. The place is super clean and the hosts gave us a good tip on where to eat close by. The breakfast was fair, and you can eat inside or outside. You can also access the kitchen during the afternoon. The room is big and the bed is comfortable. Overall, great place.

I stayed with my family at this accommodation on the day of Ferragosto. The welcome was impeccable, obviously agreed upon a few days before. The period allowed us to park for free in front of L'Olivo, however, there are several parking spaces in the area. Co-manager Bruno was very courteous and helpful in showing us how to reach the city center in no more than a quarter of an hour on foot, the train station is also very close. For those who cannot or do not want to walk, there is the brand new tram just a 3-minute walk away. The bed and breakfast is newly renovated and the furniture is also new. There are no particular noises and for those who want to enjoy the open air, there is a garden to sit in. The rooms are equipped with a TV, air conditioning, and bathroom. We were able to enjoy excellent breakfasts prepared on the spot by Bruno. It was truly a confirmation of the excellent impression we had at the time of booking. I recommend it for spending a few days in Florence in a comfortable and quiet environment.

Noi siamo al limitare della ztl, attaccati al centro storico e Lei ci ha scelto perché venendo in macchina era obbligato a parcheggiare da noi. L'alternativa era sostare presso un parcheggio privato del centro al costo di 30 o 50 euro per una notte o per l'intera giornata. Si informi sui prezzi. Hello, my partner and I spent 3 nights in this establishment managed masterfully by the warm host Bruno two weeks ago. Located just steps from the center, in 10 minutes on foot you find yourself next to the Ponte Vecchio, all while walking along the Arno River (a great walk to do at any time of the day), and if you climb the iconic "Rampe" you are in 10 minutes at Piazzale Michelangelo (ideal at sunset for a romantic moment). The room was impeccably clean, as were the restrooms and other rooms of the B&B. Upon waking up the first morning, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome and the sumptuous breakfast prepared with love (guess by whom?)... by Bruno! All kinds of coffee, tea, Russian milk, herbal teas, and then breads, homemade jams, cold cuts, cheeses, and the magnificent cakes made by Bruno at dawn. By making friends with him (which is very easy, given his smile, enthusiasm, and relaxed approach), you discover that he worked for several years in the restaurant (in my opinion) the most typical and well-known in Florence: Cibréo, alternating between Chef de Cuisine and Maître d'Hôtel. It is therefore not surprising that the service, the dishes, and the hospitality are top-notch. And in terms of language, he manages quite well too (I heard him speak in at least 5 different languages). To conclude, I must say that it was a beautiful discovery, where in a rather noisy city, we were able to spend peaceful nights, bright and welcoming awakenings, and enjoy the love that Bruno has for his city, to discover Florence and the surroundings away from classic tourist circuits. A must-try, without further ado.

The rooms are nice, the furniture is very warm, the ceilings are high, there is total silence, so much so that I often wondered if there were other guests besides me (and I discovered that there were only the next day at breakfast). There is Wi-Fi, although having to share it with everyone, it is sometimes a bit slow. In terms of location within Florence, they are in the central-southern part. With a bus in 10 minutes you are in Piazza San Marco, in 15 at the station. Breakfast is good and complete, with fresh croissants, biscuits, fruit, coffee, milk and fruit juices. The price is satisfactory considering the quality, but it is not exactly low. For a short stay it is fine, but if I had to stay more days, I would look for another solution.

The first and most important characteristic that makes the stay at L'Olivo very pleasant is the presence of Bruno, the owner. Friendly, courteous, present without being intrusive, generous with very useful advice for the stay, from restaurants to lesser-known places to visit, available and discreet. Speaking of the structure itself, it should be noted that it is just outside the center, but in a very convenient location along the river. Our room was simply furnished but very functional. Excellent breakfast, Bruno is able to satisfy all tastes and in abundance. Definitely a B&B that I recommend for a visit to Florence.

The environment is truly comfortable, the cleaning is very thorough, and the welcome from the owner Bruno (very nice and helpful) is excellent. Everything is just a few kilometers from the historic center of Florence. The breakfast is abundant and good (Bruno also cooked the crepes). The price is reasonable. What more could one want? Bruno, keep it up. Now I have a fixed point in Florence. Excellent choice of the recommended restaurant.

The environment is comfortable. Bruno (the owner) and Simona are welcoming, helpful, and professional people. There is a rare attention to detail, both in the furnishings and the structure as well as in the preparation of breakfast and, importantly, in the cleanliness of the environments. Nothing is left to chance. The location is very good, just steps from the center of Florence. The kitchen of the bed and breakfast overlooks the greenery of private gardens. Quiet, a bed and breakfast that I certainly recommend.

The B&B l'Olivo is an economical and comfortable accommodation just a few steps from the center of Florence. The area in which it is located is quiet, the center can be reached in less than 5 minutes by bus, which stops just a few steps from the B&B, and in about 20 minutes on foot. The rooms are spacious, clean, and pleasantly furnished. Free and fast Wi-Fi. The breakfast is rich and varied, thanks to the patience and commitment of Bruno, the very friendly manager of the B&B, who provides useful advice and is always available. We spent 4 delightful days in a friendly and family-like environment, in one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, all at a more than honest price. We will definitely return.

Excellent bed and breakfast, very well located outside the hustle and bustle of the historic center but practically 10 minutes on foot from the Ponte Vecchio. Good price compared to the rest of Florence (full of tourist traps). But the revelation of this place is its manager. Bruno is a really kind guy. It is rare to find someone who works in the public sector who can truly relate to it. We stayed 5 days at the bed and breakfast and Bruno was welcoming and helpful until the end, also giving us some pleasant chats. Let him tell you a lot of things, especially about his past. Exceptional.

A beautiful discovery of this small and super welcoming bed and breakfast just a few minutes from the center and really a stone's throw from the San Niccolò district and the beautiful Piazzale Michelangelo. The walk is pleasant through the green slopes of San Niccolò. The manager, Bruno, is a guy with a great passion for his place, the city and he will be happy to share information and advice with you to visit the city and its countless unusual and hidden places in the best way. Born in Florence, but having always lived in cold Brussels, it is a pleasure to discover Florence in a less conventional way than what is proposed by almost all tourist guides. The rooms are spacious and warm, with nice terraces to have breakfast and enjoy a bit of fresh air in the summer and relax after a day of walking and visits. Great advice from the manager about little restaurants and places to have a drink as well. He explained to me that he worked for several years in one of the most typical and renowned Florentine restaurants, Cibreo. In short, an excellent place to recommend if you are looking for a bed and breakfast in Florence. I will definitely return the next time I come to Florence. See you soon.

Together with my wife we had a wonderful stay at Olivo and cannot recommend it higher. Bruno was a very helpful and welcoming host in every respect. A fantastic breakfast really tailor made to our tastes, excellent coffee almost any time of the day, all amenities at our disposal. What more could one ask? I just rated the location lower as it is a mere 20 minutes walk from the city centre. Apart from that everything was top notch! A big thank you Bruno for making our stay in Florence a very happy one. We will surely be back!
