Description
Locanda Il Tufo Rosa is a romantic and elegant B&B set inside the ancient Bastion of the Orsini Fortress of Pitigliano, in the Tuscan Maremma. At the entrance of the historic center, it is the ideal starting point to discover in a wild and mysterious nature, enchanting places rich in history, traditions and typical flavors where you can live unique experiences and rediscover wellness and relaxation.
The origins of Il Tufo Rosa date back to the middle of the XVth century. Born as a defense post with sentinels and cannons, it has been transformed into a home over the centuries until it was furnished as an Inn. We have personally made and taken care of every detail with passion: from the choice of colors to the tapestries and decorations of motifs and symbols that are also present in many frescoes of the Orsini Castle of Pitigliano.
We strive daily to carry out good ecological practices aimed at saving energy, recycling, reducing waste and using organic products at km0 because we believe in sustainable growth and better future.
Rooms, arranged on two floors reachable through a circular staircase of medieval structure, are different each from the others and dedicated to some noblewomen of the history of Pitigliano. Each room is equipped with private bathroom, LED TV, heating, air conditioning, fridge and free Wi-Fi to ensure you a pleasant stay.
Each morning a buffet breakfast is served, while for other meals we suggest to our guests many typical restaurants of our area.

In our inn, in Tuscan Maremma and in the heart of Pitigliano, we want that every day of your holiday start in the best way!
For breakfast you will have a buffet with homemade cakes and yogurt, honey, km0 jams and organic products. You can also taste cold cuts and cheeses from local farms, fruit and fresh bread that will make you discover all the unique and genuine flavors of the our territory. Everything is served by trying to limit the use of plastic and single-dose in respect of the environment.
Every morning from 08. 30 to 09. 30 we will be happy to welcome you in our breakfast room where you will have the opportunity to taste the Extra Virgin Olive Oil that our small family farm produces by following organic method, preserving soil fertility and biodiversity.

I have been managing the Locanda il Tufo Rosa since 2000, the year in which I built it with my family in the ancient bastion of the Orsini Fortress in Pitigliano, drawing inspiration from the history of the place. In fact, each room is dedicated to one of the countesses who lived in the castle. The structure, which I manage with passion and love, has been updated over the years to become one of the few B&Bs in the historic center in 2020, certainly the only one to provide a buffet breakfast with homemade desserts from myself and with typical products of local farms, at "km 0".

The Il Tufo Rosa inn is located in the historic center of Pitigliano in the hilly Maremma, at 313 m. above sea level. Pitigliano is one of the most beautiful villages in Tuscany, with the characteristic of being on a volcanic tuff cliff surrounded by valleys and rivers. Spectacular in its skyline, the village has several attractions to visit such as the Orsini Palace, the Etruscan Archaeological Museum, the Jewish Synagogue and the Little Jerusalem Museum with which the town is called, the Cathedral of SS. Pietro e Paolo and the Church of S. Rocco. Furthermore, outside the city you can visit, beyond the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie, a series of walking routes called Vie Cave, dug into the rock and existing for at least 3000 years. An evocative journey through nature to discover a place with ancient charm. Pitigliano also offers a historic center full of restaurants and commercial activities, being the largest center in the entire territory of the hilly Maremma, a short distance from the Terme di Saturnia, those of Sorano, Lake Bolsena and Orvieto. About 60 km away is the entire Argentario coast with the Uccellina Regional Natural Park, and the islands of Giglio and Giannutri.

Very central place to experience the historic center,really beautiful. The B&B is located in the Torrione San Michele,spectacular. Perfect cleanliness. The owner is extremely helpful and very kind,she makes you feel at home. Excellent breakfast. Highly recommended. If we are in the area we will definitely come back.

Ringraziamo i signori ospiti, ma precisiamo che per il check. out abbiamo dei tempi contingentati di circa due ore per rifare le camere dato che poi il check. in parte da poco dopo mezzogiorno, ed essendo una piccola struttura non siamo dotati di tanto personale per far trovare in condizioni ottimali le camere a tutti gli ospiti che arrivano, ecco perchè chiediamo di rispettare l'orario di uscita che dappertutto è alle ore 10, 00 del mattino.
