The design of the property

Description

Enchanting B&B near Florence in an ancient mill on the Arno dating back to the 13th century and still intact in its charm. It is completely surrounded by nature
and located in the vicinity of a small village offering a bar, a newsstand,
some shops and a restaurant.

The center of Florence lies less than 7 Km away and can be easily reached by car, by bus or by a bicycle path running along the riverside. There are ample and well-equipped outdoor spaces (the garden and the terrace give onto the river). Breakfast is offered in the garden.

The bedrooms, baths and a separate hall occupy a wing that is completely reserved to guests. In a finely restored setting, the bedrooms are furnished with antiques and are provided with satellite-dish television. A refrigerator is available. Private parking and possibility of bikes chartering.

The B&B is immersed in the landscape of green hills that form the valley of the river. It is a veritable small oasis of tranquillity. From here one can easily visit the entire artistic wealth and heritage of the city thanks to the excellent connections
(by bus, bicycle or car) or dedicate one’s time to exploring the environs of Florence, avoiding city traffic.

The bus stop is located only 200 meters from the B&B. This bus line with frequent runs crosses the entire historical center.

A recommendable place, in fact some of my friends from Spain have already seen my videos and want me to give them directions to go. Super friendly treatment from Claudio and special Tuscan breakfasts that, together with the heavenly landscape that surrounds you, make you not want to go out to Florence. If you go in the summer, it's the best place whether you go alone like I did or accompanied by family or friends. The experience exceeded my expectations. Thank you 👌🏼

We absolutely loved staying at Claudio's place. The location was lovely - the perfect distance from town to get out of the chaos of the city, but close enough to easily access all that Florence has to offer. The property was comfortable, clean and cozy with beautiful views of the Arno river. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!

Room was clean and nice. Great view of the river. Breakfast was delicious. Claudio saved the day as we were leaving for Vernazza. Taxi went to the wrong side of the river. Very grateful. Property needed a little TLC. One of the property's cats left a present of poop on the steps to our room. I'm not sure Claudio understood me but 24 hours later the poop was still there.

La Martellina is strategically located for those who want to move around by bicycle and is connected to Florence by the cycle path along the Arno river. In the structure there are cats and a large dog, peaceful but they make the stay not suitable for those who do not like or are afraid of these animals. The cleanliness of the common areas is not up to standard: as soon as we arrived at the house there were animal excrements, it was not possible to use the pool (full of leaves and with murky water) and the garden is unfortunately neglected, with hammocks and deck chairs stained and ruined. The main problem in terms of cleanliness was the towels: they looked old, greyed, and there were hairs and orange stains present (like rust). After requesting a change, the situation did not improve, indeed. The Salcio Tower is very particular, it deserves a one-night stay because it feels like sleeping in a castle tower: it is not very comfortable to reach but extremely scenic and, fortunately, it is equipped with air conditioning. The continental buffet breakfast is very varied and well cared for, especially in the savory part, and was served outdoors at a communal table. Overall, the structure has potential, it just needs more care and attention.

The property is located in a very beautiful and quiet location on the Arno, our room was quite large with a nice bathroom (Salcio room). Claudio is a laid-back guy and takes everything easy. He prepared a great breakfast for us. You can easily reach Florence by bus. The pool is a bit small, but it's enough to cool off.

This B&B La Martellina was a real find. An old mill renovated with love and taste. Not a great luxury but very cozy and clean. The large garden by the Arno river is perfect for relaxing and spending time. Particularly noteworthy is the breakfast served in the garden. There were many Tuscan delicacies, in addition to the usual items like bread, croissants, cereals, etc. The host is very friendly and speaks English very well.

I recommend this B&B for the following reasons: the quality of the welcome and the spirit of conviviality shown by Monsieur Claudio, makes us feel like we are staying with a friend. His mill is an oasis of peace and charm on the banks of the Arno. The proximity to the bus line allows us to reach the heart of Florence in 30 minutes without worrying about parking issues. The breakfast is very generous and caters to all tastes. The host speaks French perfectly, knows how to share with us the love for his region. He gives very good advice on places not to be missed. We had a very pleasant stay. Thanks again.

Place well served by buses direct to the center of Florence, very suggestive both the interiors and the external view directly on the Arno, good breakfast and well cleaned rooms, I recommend maybe a stay also in the nice season to better enjoy the outdoor spaces, which at the end of the year period rightly do not give their best.
