In 1892 Tuscany was still mainly devoted to agriculture and the lands were owned by noble families, in that year the then Podestà of Poggibonsi decided to build in his lands a shelter for wheat, a cellar where to produce and let rest the wine, a drying rack where the grapes used to make a nectar named Vinsanto ripen.
The Antico Podere Il Bugnolo is a house of the time, built with the material that was in the fields: a porous stone formed by the sedimentation of marine fossils, the roof is of tiles and terracotta tiles handmade, the beams are in oak and you can see the wonderful vaults of the attic that in all their simplicity make your stay unique and unforgettable.
I am Simone, along with my parents of peasant origins, in 1970 we decided to return to country life, buying the current property from a fallen noble. Following our vocation for simple and artisanal things, we started producing the famous Tuscan wine until the end of the 90s. Accommodation is highly recommended, ideal for our family of five. The owners were very nice and allowed us to use the kitchen to have dinner there. Ideal for exploring the beautiful towns of Tuscany; in our case, traveling with children, we visited different places in the morning and after lunch we went back to the accommodation to rest and refresh ourselves in the pool. Very well located, close to San Gimignano. It is highly recommended to visit Certaldo Alto, very close to the accommodation.

We stayed at this property for 5 nights to explore the surrounding area. The B&B is located a 15-minute drive from San Gimignano and Certaldo and a 30-40 minute drive from Volterra, Siena, and the beautiful hills of Chianti. The pool, always clean and well-maintained, is a great refreshment from the summer heat. Simone, the manager, is very helpful and gave us many useful tips on visits. The quality/price ratio of the breakfast is excellent, there is everything essential and in any case, the kitchen is available to guests who want to cook something extra.

We loved our stay with our hostess. The apartment was moderately sized, but for our purpose of sleeping and spending our evening absolutely sufficient. The bathroom was small, but with a great shower (rain shower head and flood seat), super clean and equipped with everything.
Extraordinary was the terrace with the spectacular view of the valley and the city beyond - San Gimignano. Enjoy the most beautiful sunrise and sunset!
The breakfast was typically Italian with often three different sweet cakes, but also some sandwiches, regional cheese and ham as well as homemade sweet toppings.

The value for money is almost unbeatable, the property is located in a hilly area but positioned optimally to start and make a tour of the central part of Tuscany, with Siena (20 minutes by car), San Gimignano (10 minutes by car), Monteriggioni (15 minutes by car), Colle Val d'Elsa (10 minutes by car) and in general Val d'Orcia and Val d'Elsa but also Florence. The farmhouse is beautifully renovated, with a very well-kept and beautiful garden that truly gives a sense of peace. The managers are kind, friendly, and helpful. Excellent cleanliness. Breakfast is perhaps where it can be improved the most, considering that the extra charge is really minimal and however the managers provide everything necessary, starting from the kitchen and any extra products like in our case of intolerances. Highly recommended for any type of stay, whether it be for work, a long vacation, or a short stopover. Thank you!

I wanted to do it in English but I was not sure I could express the beautiful feelings experienced at Antico Podere Il Bugnolo, the relaxation, the peace of this place that enchanted us. Probably, even in Italian I haven't been able to express exactly the feelings experienced. The hosts were very welcoming and at the same time discreet, a wonderful family, a friendly dog, and wonderful daughters. A thousand thanks again, we had a great time even though the reason for our stay was not purely for pleasure. Let's sum it up: if you are looking for relaxation, real relaxation, well, this is definitely the right place.

Very nice place! Great location because you're not in the city, but not too far out either! For those who want to enjoy a few days of relaxation, I would say this is a valid structure! The only flaw was the presence of bugs! Otherwise, everything was perfect.

My fiancé and I stayed here in June 2018. We biked here from Siena and arrived very hot and sweaty. The pool was wonderful. The property was beautiful and the rooms were clean. The staff were very friendly and we were happy to play with their new puppy. The breakfast was very good and had way more options than a typical continental breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back here. We will be recommending it to anyone visiting Tuscany.
