Description

Antico Borgo Casalappi is an ancient village located on the top of the hills that dominate the island of Elba, a few kilometers from the beach of San Vincenzo, Baratti, Follonica and the port of Piombino (where ferries leave for the island of 'Elba). The village is surrounded by wheat fields, with olive trees and sunflowers, but it is only two kilometers of the main services (supermarket, pharmacy...)
THE VILLAGE
Antico Borgo Casalappi is an authentic stone village of the '900 completely renovated with care to preserve its warmth and character. It consists of 42 apartments and covers eight hectares near the main house and the castle. The old buildings have been restored with different volumes, shapes and positions depending on the use respecting the original Tuscan tradition, maintaining the same charm of stone, brick and clay roof tiles.

Antico Borgo Casalappi is enriched with fine finishes and common areas made of alleys, illuminated squares finely decorated with elegant flower beds and benches, a semicircular swimming pool with sun terrace overlooking the entire valley, tennis court, barbecue area and a large park games for children.

It is located in an environment of great landscape and cultural and artistic itineraries: in front of a sea with beautiful beaches such as Torre Mozza, Carbonifero, Gulf of Baratti; near ancient cities like Volterra, San Gimignano, Massa Marittima, Campiglia Marittima and Suvereto; very close to the spas and wellness centers such as Calidario, the Etruscan necropolis of Baratti and the promontory.

Thanks to its central position, it allows you to reach the art cities such as Florence, Siena and Pisa.

Campiglia Marittima is one of the most beautiful historical villages of the Etruscan Coast. In this land of ancient traditions, in the heart of the Val di Cornia, it is suggestive evidence of the Etruscan civilization, of the Roman and medieval.
The melting furnaces of Val Fucinaia the VII-VIII century. C. , and the Archeo-Mining Park of San Silvestro, splendid open air museum tells the fascinating history of metalworking in Etruscan and in the following centuries.
The Caldana Hot Springs at Venturina, already known in Etruscan and Roman times, are now equipped spa facility for mental and physical well-being.
Among olive groves, vineyards and Mediterranean scrub, runs the Wine Road of the Etruscan Coast, the cradle of fine DOC Val di Cornia, a blend farms and farms producing excellent extra virgin olive oil also local olive and tasty typical products. The history and folklore come alive during the fests and events held each year to celebrate feast days and the changing seasons.

Important renovation and expansion of accommodations for those who worked on the estate attached to the castle, from the stables and warehouses. There are about 50 furnished accommodations without superfluous items, perhaps with some furniture to be replaced at the end of their life, quite well insulated if lived in civilly, clean, and with reasonably comfortable beds. Air conditioning is mandatory during hot periods. Shortcoming: uncovered parking and lack of photovoltaics to mitigate consumption and make the complex more ecological.

Position in the countryside, near the hills. Renovated village, set in an intact environmental landscape. There is what it takes to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, a short distance from the sea.

The structure (small village) is overall very beautiful, but for example the two-room apartment on the first floor where we were, has a very steep staircase and shared with the adjacent apartment, in terms of privacy it was not the best because anyone passing by could see everything from the bathroom to the bedroom. Other accommodations, with balcony and garden, are certainly better. In my opinion, within the structure there is a missing "active" reference point, even a small bar would have livened up and created a meeting point with other guests. Too many restrictive rules in the pool, practically you can only swim. The cleanliness is impeccable. All dishes perfectly clean and also the bathroom.
