Description

Althea Rooms provides rooms to let a daily basis as well for longer stays.

It is situated in the centre of town close to Pitti Palace and Santo Spirito Square in the lively and picturesque area of "Oltrarno".

All rooms have private bath facilities, heating, Air/cond, TV and a small fridge.

Major credit cards are accepted.

Althea Rooms doesnt provide a car park but nearby are many garages where to park your car (with a fee).

Area city center

Althea is located near monuments, museums, churches, palaces and parks: the Pitti Palace, the Old Bridge, Santo Spirito, the Gardens of Boboli, just to name a few. Althea is a guest house situated in the ancient quarters of Florence called "Oltrarno", which means "On the other side of the river Arno".

There you can find traditional artisan workshops: mosaic, wood carving, ceramics, antiques, goldsmith and much more.

Althea enjoys an excellent position from a tourist point of view, being close to monuments, museums, churches, palaces and parks: the Pitti Palace, the Ponte Vecchio, Santo Spirito, the Boboli Gardens, just to name a few. The Santo Spirito district, like all the Oltrano, is the most lively part of Florence, full of restaurants and places to relax with a drink.

Althea Rooms was the perfect place to stay in Florence. While it was about a 20-minute walk from Firenze SMN station, the walk was fairly simple and the room was only about a 10-minute walk from the main attractions on both sides of the river. There were plenty of good cafes and restaurants nearby as well, including the lasagna place on the corner. We were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready early when we arrived to drop off our bags. The room itself was quite large, as was the bathroom. The bed and linens were extremely comfortable. The property host was very friendly and helpful.

I can't recommend this property enough. The owner is extremely nice and accommodating. The location is amazing, a bit of a hike from the train station but not inconvenient. The single room was spacious with a nice bathroom and a small kitchenette area, and I was very comfortable throughout my stay.

Great location and clean bathroom. Good for one night while waiting for a morning flight. The host was able to book a taxi for me in the morning without any hassle. Clear communication from the host and an overall wonderful experience.

The manager (Denis, if I'm not mistaken) was very friendly and provided me with a map of the city, explaining how to get to the most important sights. Altea Rooms also provides excellent dining recommendations. All the cafes and restaurants from that list that I visited were fabulous and the food was truly delicious. I highly recommend this place for your stay if you are traveling to Florence!

Great quiet location a short walk from the beautiful Piazza Santo Spirito. Excellent, attentive and friendly welcome. Fresh and clean sheets. Large and comfortable bathroom. Easy access with codes and the key for the room door. Everything perfect. I would suggest providing some fruit (a banana, an apple) for guests who do not eat sweet pastries. I had a wonderful stay.

Excellent room with nice amenities. Good location once there (getting there from the station with large luggage was a bit of a hassle). Kind hosts who are very helpful. The inclusion of snacks and coffee in the room every day was a lifesaver when we had no time for breakfast some mornings.

Thank you for the stay. I found that it was not well sound proofed and I could occasionally hear hallway noise or a vibration, which impacted my comfort sleeping. I feel the cost was high for what was provided.

This is a lovely property set in the heart of Oltrarno, 5 minutes walk from the Ponte Vecchio. The area is full of lovely bars and restaurants. Our room was spotless with a comfy bed. The hosts were really friendly and helpful. I would love to stay here again.

We stayed for 3 nights at Althea Rooms and we felt very good. The room was large and clean, the cleaning service was done every day. Although breakfast was not included, our room was equipped with a kettle with tea, coffee, and snacks/cookies for a quick breakfast in the morning, which was very convenient. The owner and staff were very kind and helpful. We used the luggage storage on the day of departure, which was a very convenient option. We will gladly return on a future trip to Florence.

The structure is centrally located and easily reachable on foot from the train station. The room is nice and clean. There is no breakfast, but in the room you find a refrigerator, kettle, water, tea, herbal teas, instant coffee, and snacks. Commendable is the kindness of Paola who also offered to carry the luggage upstairs (first floor without elevator). If I return to Florence, it will definitely be my structure for the stay.

I gave the manager a 10, because you can't give more but he deserves 100. Due to a canceled flight, I arrived one day late but no problem, in fact Antonio was extremely helpful and very kind. The room I booked is suitable for one person, excellent cleanliness and inside there is a shower, disposable soap, and various types of towels. Minibar, breakfast products, water, and kettle. In addition, there is a small wardrobe cabin very useful for medium-long stays and 3 power outlets behind the headboard of the bed. Great location just a stone's throw from Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti, and the Boboli Gardens. If I were to return to Florence, Althea Rooms would definitely be my first choice.

We had such a lovely time staying here - brilliant, welcoming host with a lovely room and fantastic location. A quiet street outside with good air conditioning meant good sleep. The only reason the property didn't score a 10 was because the bed was quite hard but if you like that go for it! We would definitely stay here again when I come back to Florence.

Excellent accommodation. Denis treated us excellently and was attentive to everything we needed. The cleanliness was wonderful, we even managed to check in a bit earlier than expected since our train arrived in the morning. Beautiful neighborhood, close to Spirito Santo Square, where there are multiple bars and dining options. A 15-20 minute walk from the central area (station, cathedral, etc). We would definitely choose it again.

During our stay at Althea Rooms, we had a really good time. The manager was kind and very helpful, we found the room clean and welcoming, the cleaning was done daily. The B&B is located in the center, near Ponte Vecchio, an excellent location that allows you to reach the city center on foot, without taking any means of transportation. Highly recommended!

Our stay in Althea Rooms was amazing. It was a very nice, spacious room which was spotlessly cleaned. Tony was more than helpful with everything we needed. There was a small basket with goods for breakfast which was replenished on the second day of our stay. The location was nice, close to some nice trattorias and just a few minutes away from the historic center. We highly recommend Althea Rooms.

Located in a quiet area but not too far from the center of Florence. Accessible from the airport (30 minutes by tram, 20 minutes of pleasant walk in the city). Equipment for a 'quick' breakfast available in the room. Antonio super responsive via messages and very nice (he advised us on the organization of our last day) and in French! The neighborhood and Piazza Santo Spirito are a 3-minute walk away... not to be missed for a warm and 'far' from the city atmosphere. Boboli and Palazzo Pitti right next door!

The structure is located just outside the historic center, about 15 minutes on foot. The room is in a slightly dated building without an elevator. The room is small but equipped with everything you need: air conditioning and a refrigerator. The structure is very clean and the room is tidied up every morning. Recommended.

Excellent place to spend a few days in Florence with a perfect price-quality ratio. Antonio has been an excellent host and helped us at all times. They offer a delicious Italian coffee with nice complimentary items for a quick breakfast in the mornings, in your own room. I stayed at this bed and breakfast for 4 days and I had a great time. Quiet area very close to Porta Romana, Giardino dei Boboli, Santo Spirito, Palazzo Pitti, San Freudiano and the river Arno. The rooms that Antonio rents are in a central area, easily reachable on foot from Santa Maria Novella station in about 10 minutes. The room was equipped with TV, mini fridge, small packaged breakfast, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning. The street where the windows overlook is a bit noisy because there are wine bars and clubs quite close by, but I think that with the windows closed you probably sleep very well... the heat forced us to keep them open. Overall, we were absolutely fine! Thanks to Antonio for his courtesy and professionalism.

The truth is that I had very low expectations of this accommodation and I was pleasantly surprised! The room was super comfortable and had everything we needed! I highly recommend it, it is located near the Palazzo Pitti and the surrounding restaurants and bars are reasonably priced for what Florence offers. It was appreciated that when I arrived, the air conditioning was already on as the room was air-conditioned; moreover, Antonio provides food for breakfast (which is replenished the next morning if consumed) and there is a coffee machine at the entrance. The room has your name as well as the entrance, and you can check in whenever you want, while check-out is between 11:00 and 11:30. In summary, it is a perfect place with a good location.

Located on the less touristy side of the city, this place is where the best restaurants are found. The host was very kind and gave us tips for our stay. We could ask him for specific things in Florence, such as good restaurants and how to book museum tickets. The price included espresso and some pastries, which was all we needed for breakfast. The bathroom was clean, as well as the room in general. The reception had a short opening time, but we didn’t find it hard to communicate with the host. He even answered my phone call at 8:30 pm one evening. Would definitely recommend!

The building is quite old and there are two steep flights of stairs to reach the rooms. Quality and price were fantastic, excellent cleanliness. It does not include breakfast but every morning there were sweet pastries, cookies, and juices. Recommendation: I traveled with my son and I would have liked to have a microwave in the hallway to heat his food or milk. But for everything else it was super excellent and I am sure I will come back. Thank you.

B&B in a great location compared to the center. Good cleanliness and comfortable bed. The bathroom linen is changed every three days. A minimal breakfast is provided, a few croissants, fruit juice, and biscuits. We found a bottle of water upon our arrival. I would return, so I recommend it.

We had a wonderful weekend in Florence visiting family and were delighted to have found such a convenient place to stay. The rooms were spacious, with very comfortable beds and a small but excellent shower room. Everything was very clean and well appointed. Highly recommended.

Great place! Loved the snacks that were replenished daily. Very clean and the host was very nice and accommodating. Location is pretty good and not too far a walk from the centre. The bed was not the most comfortable but wasn't too bad either. Would definitely recommend!

I stayed at Althea Rooms with my partner on the bridge of June 2nd. A truly excellent structure. Super clean, very friendly staff and always very helpful. Excellent location, less than 10 minutes walk from the entrance of Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens. About twenty minutes from the Uffizi and the Porcellino market. In the area, there are various supermarkets and especially one of the locations of the Strega Nocciola ice cream shop. In short, I really feel like recommending it and I would definitely book it again for a future weekend in Florence.

One of the most pleasant stay experiences ever. The room is cleaned and tidy every day, the air conditioning is on to make the environment fresh every time we return to the property. I gave a 10 to the breakfast because even if it was not included in the reservation, every day we found brioches, fruit juices, small tarts, and coffee pods to use in the machine at the entrance. The location is excellent, very close to Piazza Santo Spirito, one of the most beautiful in Florence. The manager is friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

I very much liked Antonio's apartment; it is simple but nice, clean, and located in a calm & residential area of Florence - yet it is close to the center (10 min walk). Our room was equipped with sweets, drinks, and very good coffee (pads), so we could have our breakfast independently. Antonio is a very kind host; communication was always easy and quick. I recommend staying here!

I am satisfied with my stay at Althea Rooms, thanks especially to the kindness and availability of Mr. Antonio who treated us with care, both me and my boyfriend and even the little dog traveling with us. I highly recommend a stay here, both for Mr. Antonio and for the proximity to the center, in fact the structure is located in a strategic point: a 4-minute walk from Palazzo Pitti and less than 10 minutes from Ponte Vecchio, which connects to the historic center. The stay did not include breakfast but thanks to Mr. Antonio's kindness, we were provided with a breakfast in the room every day with snacks, juices, a kettle with tea and even coffee capsules and water. The structure is very nice, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. For those staying with a dog, Mr. Antonio immediately made himself available to provide us with a fleece bed and also bowls. Surely for the next stay in Florence, I will choose Mr. Antonio again.

Very friendly staff, perfect area for walking or cycling around, super clean room and objectively well-maintained. The apartment is not brand new but it's internally renovated and equipped with all the comforts you may need while traveling (mini fridge, hairdryer, air conditioning, etc.). Rooms in the Oltrarno district (beautiful), full of typical shops and taverns. 5 minutes on foot from the center and 2 minutes from Palazzo Pitti. Rooms in a building without an elevator. Excellent cleanliness. Reception and check-out without any problems. Everything perfect.
