Description

Al Porto di Lucca is a recently renovated large house with a garden, which can be dated to back to 1700. It is owned by a family from Lucca, whose origins date back to 1500. It is a bed and breakfast with 4 guest rooms, each with a private bathroom, located less than 300 meters from the walls and the historic center of Lucca, which then can be reached on foot or by bike via an underpass. The railway station is just 200 meters away, and by train there is easy access to Pisa with its international airport, and to the city of Florence. In addition to the gardens, the great hall and the veranda are at guests' disposal for breakfast. The owners, who personally manage the B&B and live in the house, speak English, a little French and a little German and are always available to provide to guests all the information needed to pass the time pleasantly. With bicycles, which are available free of charge to visit the city, and the information available to them, the guests can, for a few days, be considered not only as ordinary tourists, but as real citizens of Lucca. Upon their return home, guests of “al Porto di Lucca” may well tell their friends how the locals live in a place that still retains the Tuscan charm of a small Italian city-state.

This is a wonderful small hotel, only four rooms, two with balconies, with a very personal touch. It is a traditional larger house with a garden full of character and charm. Very handy for the walled city and the train station. One small point, but not a criticism: my goodness, the breakfast is just too much! No need for lunch then. We had a fabulous week in and around Lucca and we were lucky with our choice of hotel. Thanks F and G!

Everything was perfect: the room was very clean and full of charm, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and the location was just a few steps from the center of Lucca. In addition, the owners are charming and I especially thank Giovanna, who advised us so well on a restaurant in the center of Lucca, as well as the very friendly lady who helps the owners and who speaks French very well. If we return to Lucca, it will certainly be 'Al Porta di Lucca' where we will stay again.

We were impressed by our stay. Everything was so clean, with proper linen on the beds and an amazing-quality breakfast. The proximity to town made it easily walkable. The beds were comfortable. We weren’t keen on the old chairs around, but everything else counteracted that.

The room was magnificent. Spacious. The bathroom was very good. Everything was very very clean. The breakfast was incredible, plentiful, sweet and savory, with freshly squeezed orange juice. The lady was very friendly and spoke French well. An excellent place that we highly recommend.

A wonderful home to stay just outside the walls of Lucca. Note.. to enter Lucca you must navigate a lot of steps that take you up and over the bridge of the rail line. I was surprised no one had mentioned this in previous reviews. However, this did not detract at all from the ideal location and the lovely rooms with nice touches such as monogrammed linen and towels and the spaciousness of the rooms.

Spacious, bright room equipped with every type of comfort. Excellent and abundant breakfast. Possibility of parking on site. Hosts (Francesco and Giovanna) are friendly and kind, able to make guests feel at ease by immersing them in a truly family atmosphere. Highly recommended B&B. If I return to Lucca, I will not hesitate to rebook in this establishment.

Simply perfect! A real B&B with the host living in this stunning house. Very comfortable and welcoming rooms, great beds and a 5 star like treatment! Beautiful location for the breakfast in the exquisitely furnished veranda facing the garden. It was awesome in winter and probably even better in summertime! We couldn't expect anything better than this.

Just outside the city walls, very convenient to get to the center on foot. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom immaculate. Our hosts were very welcoming and provided a sumptuous breakfast.

An absolutely wonderful place to stay while visiting Lucca. From the moment you arrive, you are in an oasis of calm and the welcome is so friendly. We stayed for 8 nights and would stay again. The house is beautiful and very interesting, and the hosts are gracious and make the stay perfect for all their guests. Breakfast is always outstanding, and every day there was a little surprise or a local specialty. It is quiet and relaxing to stay here. Seeing the garden in the morning under a perfectly blue Tuscan sky was inspirational. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and the beds are comfortable. The walk-in shower is excellent, and there was plenty of storage for a longer stay. The owners and their staff work well together to provide a wonderful experience. They have many tips to make the most of your visit to the area. This is why we love Italy and its people so much. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We loved staying here. Beautiful room with the most amazingly comfortable bed. The hosts were lovely. The walk into Lucca was short and took us to the main area for restaurants and shopping. Lovely stay and we will be back.

We had a wonderful stay at Al Porto di Lucca, Giovanni, Francesca and Paula made us very welcome. The room was very comfortable and clean with a comfy bed and super shower. Breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day! The B&B is ideally located just outside the city walls and near to the station, also right near where the Park Run starts if that is something you plan to do while in Lucca. Highly recommended. Great place to stay at Lucca. Just near the railway station and gate to the historic centre. Everything is in a walkable distance. The property is an old villa restored to be a b&b. Lovely spacious rooms while maintaining the character. The hosts were excellent and provided a very fresh breakfast each day, you could not want for more. The property has been in the family for many years and they have kept it well with good family love, would definitely stay again.

It is a beautiful house next to the train station. Perfect location to visit Lucca because it is a 5-minute walk from the center. It has parking. The breakfast is very good and is served in a very pleasant area overlooking the garden. The room was classic and comfortable. There was no TV in the room or elevator to the first floor. Highly recommended.

It's an amazing place, the rooms are perfectly clean, and the decoration is really beautiful and special. Not like Ikea, but real quality furniture. The people who work here are so kind, interested, and willing to give you all the information about the neighborhood, and then, the cherry on top, the breakfast, it's like you've never had before. Fresh orange juice, I would like to give it more than a 10. Croissants, pizza bread, a generous breakfast, made with care. With a beautiful garden view, even the cat who comes to visit you for a hug is so kind. I would absolutely recommend this place and we will definitely come back.

Lovely B&B with a short walk to the center of Lucca. The suite was super clean and beautifully furnished with antiques and artwork, high quality bedding and mattress, large soft bath towels, toiletries, (even slippers), and a balcony with table and chairs and a screen on the door to keep bugs out. There is a quaint sitting room for guests that seems like a history museum - books, antiques, paintings and photographs of times long ago. Breakfast was served in a lovely room with large windows looking out on the garden. It was excellent and abundant: croissants, breads, egg dish, yogurt, fruit and freshly squeezed juice, and tasty cappuccini! The owners were pleasant, attentive, and kind. Would highly recommend and will return on our next visit to Lucca.

Stunning place, very welcoming and a real gem in Lucca. Just a stone's throw from the center, very close to the train station and with reserved parking spaces. Having breakfast on the veranda was stunning, an even more beautiful corner of this Al Porto di Lucca. Moreover, Ms. Giovanna is an excellent hostess and it was nice to be her guest. Pity I didn't stay for more days.

With the aim of visiting the city of Lucca and then continuing on a tour of central Italy, we booked one night in this bed and breakfast very close to the station and the walls. There are four rooms all on the same floor. Ours was adequately spacious, excellent quality mattress and pillows. Modern bathroom with good quality soap, shower gel, and shampoo. Perfect cleanliness. A kettle and wifi are available, while fridge, safe, and TV are not provided. The room is quite quiet and peaceful. Antique furniture, elegant and refined in perfect harmony with the villa. We were given the opportunity to park for free in the immediate vicinity of the property and to store luggage in the common area both on arrival and departure. The garden is very beautiful. Excellent welcome and availability of the owners and staff. Excellent and abundant breakfast consisting of sweet and savory food, naturally, given the historical period, served at the table.

Great little bed and breakfast close to Lucca's center and the train station. Giovanna gave us great tips on where to dine and what to do. Breakfast was amazing (including fresh focaccia, scrambled eggs, and cheese/ham things I forgot the name of). The owners paid a lot of attention to cleanliness, which is definitely a plus in these covid times. Would highly recommend!

I give a very positive review for this stay in Lucca. The B&B Al Porto di Lucca is easily reachable by car and parking is free, the train station for those arriving by train is a stone's throw away. The location is very convenient to reach the city center on foot in a few minutes. The structure is welcoming, has a very pleasant personal "vintage" style, adequate common areas. The "marina" suite that we occupied is comfortable and spacious, very comfortable and spacious separate shower from the bathroom. There is no TV by precise choice, we did not miss it, indeed. The Wifi is free and works well. Very comfortable bed, mattress I believe in latex or memory, period furniture consistent with the overall style but functional. Our room was quiet, the proximity to the railway was inconsequential. Cleaning more than adequate. A note of merit for the sweet and savory breakfast, excellent, abundant and served in a very pleasant context with garden view. The owners are very kind and helpful. I gave all 10 not for an absolute evaluation but relative to the price and type of accommodation. If you are looking for High-Tech solutions, this is not your place, if you are looking for style, history, and tranquility, it's the right place for you.

A delightful start to our holiday. We choose this property because we wanted to be outside the walls of Lucca, but near and convenient to visit the old city. We were late arriving (around 11pm) but we got a pleasant, friendly welcome and were offered a variety of refreshments. The room was large, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The bed was really comfortable and we had an excellent night's sleep. The breakfast was delicious, and the selection of local delicacies just kept coming. The hosts were very friendly and spoke good English. All together an excellent spot, and one that we will be happy to recommend to others.
