Description

Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and orchards, La Terra is located in the rolling hills of the Val di Chiana, on the border between Tuscany and Umbria.

The old farmhouse and a large landscaped garden is an oasis of calm in which to spend a holiday that can be different every day, thanks to the many opportunities that our location offers.

You can choose between a walk in the woods or a trip to the nearby cities of art (Siena, Arezzo, Florence and Perugia) or between Etruscan and Renaissance (Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza). You can relax in the nearby hot springs of Bagno Vignoni and Chianciano or water sports on Lake Trasimeno.

And when you return home, there is always a good glass of wine waiting for you, to enjoy the pool while admiring a spectacular sunset.

We welcome you in a typical Tuscan farmhouse in red brick in which we live. The structure, in its earliest form, was already present in the land Leopoldino the 700. Restored at different times has kept the original features with exposed beams and brick, and has been our care to furnish every room in the tradition and with a bit of originality.

The farm is composed of two apartments and a large bedroom all independent and a small "restaurant". All this is handled with ease, expertise and passion by Ilaria and Pierpaolo.

All around the house and the annexe there is a large garden of about an acre equipped for various activities available to guests: 2 swimming pools including one for children, games for adults and children how to swing, basketball hoop, rings and a climbing rope, a gazebo with table tennis, darts and table football, and also the home garden.

The "restaurant" is a newly renovated independent structure which houses the kitchen and a covered loggia surrounded by the garden; a bright and welcoming dining room where you can eat while enjoying the splendid panorama that sweeps from the nearby Castello di Valiano, up to Montepulciano and Monte Amiata and the background of suggestive sunsets in summer as in winter.

In summer we offer dinner outdoors on a large panoramic terrace.

It is Pierpaolo who cooks for you: cooking has always been a great passion of him that he has cultivated over the years and which has now become his specialization.

We offer simple and genuine recipes, linked to Tuscan family cooking with some forays into Sardinian cuisine (Pierpaolo is from Cagliari). We prepare homemade bread, breakfast cakes and fresh pasta (tagliatelle, pici, ravioli and tortellini...).

With us, dinner is, as usual, a convivial moment to share with our guests: we offer a fixed menu of 6/7 which also includes wine and spirits.

Everything we offer is seasonal and locally produced, at zero km and controlled supply chain, we often know the producers personally, moreover as much as possible we use the products of our organic farm: flours, cereals, vegetables, fruit, oil, jams and saffron.

We also organize cooking classes and / or small events and ceremonies, providing complete organization or hosting external catering, even without the obligation to stay overnight.

And always for those who want to experience the return to the flavors of the past, in the wood oven we prepare the pizza once a week.

Ilaria and Pierpaolo, along with their dogs Maya and Zac, welcome you to La Terra farmhouse. Our story is about a family that has chosen to leave the city and live in close contact with nature, following its rhythms and sharing the positive aspects of this choice with friends and guests of the farmhouse.

Until now, our entire lives had been spent in the city: different cities, some by the sea and others crowded with skyscrapers, compelled to change due to the demands of the company where Pierpaolo worked for over 15 years.

This time, the drive for change came from within us. We didn't want to change the place we lived in as we had always done, but rather our way of understanding life.

Our dream became a reality with the creation of La Terra Farm and Agriturismo in 2013, a name that encapsulates the essence of our choice: to live in harmony with nature through respect and work on the land and its products, and to create a place of tranquility and harmony for ourselves and our guests to enjoy their time.

The station of Cortona / Terontola is at 8 km and the exit from A1 of "Bettole Val di Chiana" is 12 km away.
We are just 10 km from Lake Trasimeno, 18 Km from Cortona and Montepulciano. Perugia is 50 km and Siena 70 km, Florence 100 km. Day trip also Arezzo, Bagni Vignoni, Pienza, Montalcino, Chiusi and Chianciano Terme.
1 km from us apart from the Bike Trail "Sentiero di Bonifica" that from the Oasis Lake Nature Montepulciano leads to Arezzo.

Overall, our stay was excellent. We are a couple and had a medium-sized dog, and we stayed in a two-bedroom cottage. The property was fully furnished; however, the quality of the bed (we only slept in one room) was a bit inadequate. It somehow squeaked when you moved, and the floor wasn’t even. I felt like I was rolling off the bed. The toilet and the standing shower were too small, even for me and especially for my tall husband. I hope that both bathrooms will get a major upgrade; a bath would be excellent. Otherwise, the property is beautiful and has a vegetable garden. The hosts are amazing and warm, and we felt like we were visiting family or friends. The location is beautiful. We attended a cooking class with Andrea, and it was excellent and fun. We bought their olive oil; I adore the chili oil, although it was not for sale. Overall, our stay was excellent, and we would definitely come back; we hope for major bedroom and bathroom upgrades. I recommend the cooking class. Thank you to the lovely hosts.

We stayed at this farmhouse for 4 days. Friendly atmosphere, excellent dinner(pici with aglione and delicious panna cotta). Hosts very helpful and extremely attentive to everyone's needs. Total relaxation, the pool area is very nice. Stunning view. Excellent location for visiting all the villages of the Val d'Orcia. Everything perfect. We will definitely return.

The most beautiful setting with a view on every side. They upgraded us to a larger apartment Casa Maria which was spacious and well equipped with a modern bathroom. The pool is great and overall the rate for bed and breakfast was very reasonable. We chose this one as it was organic and there was the promise of a superb dinner which was the reason for going. However, Pierpaolo wasn’t cooking (as advertised on the website) and the food was very mediocre and overpriced compared to other places we had been - even with wine and limoncello included. The pasta in the lasagne was stodgy and we later found out created by the family next to us who had been on a cooking course. The stuffed turkey roll with caponata was nice but nothing to write home about and having seen the gorgeous ripe plums in the garden it was a shame all the ones served were unripe. The pistachio ice cream was nice. Overall we were disappointed with the meal, however the view and sunset were amazing. Breakfast was lovely with their homemade preserves and bread. It was a shame their products weren’t made available to buy. Would recommend to stay just don’t have dinner.

This was a lovely, clean stay for one night on our way to a yoga retreat in Tuscany. I loved all the friendly animals, the garden, the wonderful patio where you could rest and have a drink. The dinner served was adequate. I would give it a 5 out of 10, but my roommate gave it a higher number.

We made a short stop at this stunning agriturismo but we will definitely return as soon as possible. A very intimate and well-kept location, with a breathtaking view of the vineyards and a strategic position to reach cities like Siena, Perugia, Assisi, Spello or Lake Trasimeno. The kindness and friendliness of Ilaria and Pierpaolo combined with the goodness of their zero-kilometer products and the dishes they offer (it is possible to have dinner with a fixed menu that is proposed daily) make everything perfect and create an atmosphere that is hard to forget! Highly recommended.

We stayed only one day but it was enough to want to return to Agriturismo La Terra for a longer period. Ilaria and Pierpaolo welcomed us with warmth and spontaneity, as if we had known each other for a long time, and we particularly appreciated the convivial moment spent in their dining area with attached kitchen, enjoying the dinner prepared by Pierpaolo finished with an excellent Vin Santo and cantuccini. This agriturismo is immersed in the characteristic beauty of the Tuscan countryside, it is detailed in the internal environments, simple but characterized by the elegance of the furnishings just like at Casa Carla, one of the independent structures where guests stay and where we stayed. We will certainly return, and for longer, both to visit the surrounding area, from Lake Trasimeno, to Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza and... and to meet Ilaria and Pierpaolo again!

Everyone should wake up at least once in their life in a place like this, with a spectacular view of Montepulciano and the countryside, with the crowing of the rooster and the chirping of the birds, with the beautiful and familiar smile of those who have turned their profession into a passion and a life mission. We spent a wonderful weekend at this property. Ilaria and Gianpaolo welcomed us as friends before guests! We stayed at Casa Maria in a large apartment equipped with everything, clean and warm, surrounded by silence, surrounded by the Tuscan hills! We took advantage of the opportunity to dine with other guests and Ilaria and Gianpaolo eating dishes of traditional Tuscan cuisine excellently cooked and enjoyed in great company. Highly recommended to everyone.

We stayed in an apartment for four people with two bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. The apartment is very nice and clean and is really equipped with everything necessary for a pleasant holiday. Outside there was a table with chairs and an umbrella to relax and enjoy the scents of nature. Moreover, it was adjacent to the pool (two to be precise: one large and one small suitable for children). We also enjoyed an excellent breakfast, served under a porch, rich in homemade products such as bread, jams, cookies, and warm cake. The owners are two really friendly and very helpful people. I suggest everyone to stay in this magnificent agriturismo.

Beautiful place surrounded by sunflowers and vineyards, where you can breathe the scent of the earth to remind us of our origins. The managers: Ilaria is always smiling, a smile that I took home with me along with the beautiful panorama. Pierpaolo, the man of the land, I like to remember him this way, for his passion for planting new things like licorice basil and cooking the products of his land. Friend Carlo is an excellent entertainer and a special person. I cannot say that staying with them is like being at home, because with them it is even better. I recommend a stay at Agriturismo La Terra, because it will not just be a vacation, but you will take a piece of Tuscan land in your heart.

We stayed at this agriturismo on the recommendation of a friend of the owners and I must say that all the nice things she told us turned out to be absolutely true. The place is beautiful with a spectacular view, as is all of Tuscany. The added value is the friendliness and courtesy of the owners, their willingness to help you with things to see in the area. Genuine breakfast made at home by Ilaria, dinner prepared by Pierpaolo (excellent turkey cooked in a wood oven). If I really have to find something negative, I can only say that we could not eat in the Porcilaia which had not yet been completed. Too bad because from there the view is stunning. It will be for the next time we go, because I am sure we will return.
