Description

Azienda Agricola Biologica Cesani is an organic farm nestled in the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside, in the tiny country hamlet of Pancole, 6 km to the medieval town of San Gimignano, halfway between Siena and Florence. The estate is surrounded by its own vineyards and olive groves, from which the Cesani Family have been producing for decades excellent wines and extra-virgin olive oil, combining harmonically respect for the environment and modern technologies, love for their homeland and sustainability.

Besides the working farm, they run Agriturismo Cesani, which provides lovely holiday accommodation a short distance to the centre of San Gimignano. The Agriturismo consists of 10 simple, but comfortable rooms and of a nice panoramic apartment, where you can experience the real Tuscan country life off the most beaten tourist paths, and discover delightful flavours and ancient traditions.

In this magical place time stops to make you re-discover situations that are often overwhelmed by the frantic rhythm of our modern life: an informal, cosy, familiar welcoming, a friendly conversation with a good glass of wine in your hand, these are the occasions that are not to be missed, the details that make the difference, unforgettable moments of relax and genuine emotions.

In the homely atmosphere of Agriturismo Cesani, a short distance to San Gimignano, in the heart of the gorgeous Tuscan hills, you will experience:
Delicious breakfasts and tasting of typical products of the Tuscan cooking tradition, barbecue for guests' use to practice your grilling ability;
Local organic products: the estate wines made from our own grapes, produced and aged in the modern estate cellars, extra-virgin olive oil and saffron;
Guided wine tasting organized in our comfortable tasting room;
A panoramic swimming pool surrounded by a large sun terrace;
Guided visits to the organic farm and to the estate cellars;
mini wine tasting courses led by the professional staff of the estate, and last, but not least,
the friendly company of the Cesani Family and of all their staff.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served every morning in the cosy atmosphere of our breakfast hall, or in summertime, under the covered outside terrace. Our breakfast consists of a delicious buffet with products carefully selected or produced directly by the Cesani Family. Home-made cakes and jams, milk and fresh yoghurt, typical ham and salami, local cheese, homegrown fruit and vegetables in season.

Guido and Annunziata Cesani bought the estate in 1949 with their savings, and moved in this scenic corner of Tuscany, a short distance to San Gimignano. In the Fifties they started subsistence farming activities.

Later on their son Vincenzo decided to specialize and focused on the production of wine and oil produced according to organic methods. He achieved excellent results, deserving to be mentioned for the best quality standards of the area.

Today the farming activities are carried on by his daughters, Letizia and Marialuisa, who continue the family tradition with passion and competence.

San Gimignano is a medieval art town which developed in Medieval times from an Etruscan settlement. San Gimignano flourished thanks to the Via Francigena, the ancient pilgrims' road linking Canterbury to Rome which runs through the town. The town is registered in the Unesco's World Heritage list, and it is known worldwide thanks to its imposing towers.
The major art towns of Tuscany are a short distance to San Gimignano and they are all easily accessible on a daily trip (Siena 35Km away, Colle Val D'Elsa 10Km away, Monteriggioni 20Km, and Montalcino 90Km away). The Etruscan town of Volterra is just 25Km away, Pisa, with its famous Leaning Tower, is 90Km away and Florence, the birthplace of Renaissance, is 45Km away.

We stayed there in June 2023. Our apartment, the Wisteria, located with a breathtaking view and private terrace, is one of the most beautiful apartments in my opinion. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very varied. We will return.
