Description
The name “Altair” was Born because of one of the shiniest and closest stars of the sky. The same sky full of stars that surrounds the Villa over the night and that touches everyone that sees it.
Villa Altair offers the possibility of staying in pleasant and well furnished bedrooms, with complete private bathrooms and a great view to the Sicilian country side and to the old internal courtyard. A rustic environment with all the comfort of a three stars hotel to ensure the maximum relaxation during your holidays.
It also offers free private parking and a wide external area with a garden that includes olive grooves, vineyards, typical aromatic plants, fruit trees, a space for vegetables cultivated for our kitchen and our ancient stoned swimming-pool, used previously to accumulate rain’s water.
The discovery of the Sicilian’s culture and traditions passes through the gastronomy and wine (it couldn’t be different: we are in Sicily!). Besides offering an abundant morning coffee with the typical products of Sicily, at the country house also works the Altair Food and Wine Club, that, under reservation, can offer tastings, appetizers and dinners with the most traditional and fresh products of the region with very affordable prices.
Villa Altair provides different services as transport to and from airports under reservation, conventions with beach bars and restaurants, riding school in the neighbourhood, boat tours and fishing tourism at sea, bike, motorcycle, car and boat rental, etc. There is also the option of several gastronomic tours as the ones to know the canteens and houses that produce extra virgin olive oil (particularly during harvest periods), visits to the Sea Port of Mazara, where is also possible to buy the freshest sea foods, besides of the cultural routes (in the historical city, in the Arab quarter of Casbah), and many other suggestions.
Villa Altair is in the city of Mazara del Vallo, in Trapani’s province, in the western part of Sicilia. It is the extreme south of Europe and, in addition to it’s proximity with Africa, it’s located in plain Mediterranean Sea. Even though it’s between the tranquillity of the country side, just 2 km ahead, we arrive in the historical city centre where we can notice the clearly persistence of the Muslin culture. Also in the same place we find the Museum of the Satyr (a Greek bronze statue “caught” in 1998 by a Mazara fishing boat in the Sicilian Channel, which appears to be a satyr dancing). It’s crystal water coastline, all surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, presents beautiful beaches with white and fine send like the “Tonnarella” beach, perfect for children and the ones that want a relaxing day of sun and sea, as well as the unique seaside of “Quarara”, with it’s rocky beaches previously habituated by the Phoenician civilization.
The city is also strategic point to go to the natural beauties of the Mediterranean Sea (as the Reserve WWF of Capo Feto and Gorghi Tondi, the Zingaro’s Reserve, the islands of Pantelleria and Lampedusa, the Egadi’s Islands, the Salinas of Marsala and Trapani, etc.), as well as the remainings of the ancient civilizations (archaeological complex of Selinunte and Segesta, the cities of Mozia and Erice, the Caves of Cusa, the Temples of Agrigento, etc.)
Villa Altair is a perfect rendezvous between sun, sea, nature, culture, traditions, food and wine, and is the ideal place to make your holidays in Sicily unforgettable!
