Description

Tenuta Margitello is an agriturismo located on the Iblei Mountains, at an altitude of approximately 450 meters above sea level. Surrounded by carob, almond and olive trees, it overlooks the vast plain of Gela, offering a stunning panorama that extends from the Gulf of Gela to the hills of central Sicily and Mount Etna.

The structure visible today is the result of careful renovation work on the ancient farmhouses, from which a comfortable dining room with 80 seats and four double rooms have been created. About 400 meters away from the restaurant, another building has been restored, offering 14 rooms that can accommodate double, triple, and quadruple occupancy.

In addition to the restaurant, the property offers an outdoor swimming pool, a ping-pong table, a play area for children, and mountain bikes. Guests can also enjoy walks to the nearby Christian necropolis of Cava Porcaro. Furthermore, the property is an excellent starting point for exploring the many historical and cultural sites of interest in the surrounding area.

A short drive away are the Castle of Donnafugata and the charming town of Ragusa Ibla. Within 30 minutes, visitors can reach Modica, Scicli, and the beautiful seaside town of Marina di Ragusa.

In our restaurant, guests will have the opportunity to rediscover the ancient flavors of Ragusa and Sicily. In addition to breakfast, we offer delicious dinners made with our own products, such as grilled meats, cheeses and ricotta from our cattle farms, oil obtained from our estate's olive trees, and oranges from our citrus grove.

Typical dishes from the Ragusan tradition include "scacce" seasoned with tomato and cheese, with ricotta and parsley, with eggplant and tomato, with potatoes and sausage. As a first course, we have the famous "cavati" and ricotta ravioli with pork sauce, made with fresh pasta according to a recipe passed down from mother to daughter.

Roasted sausage and pork chops stuffed with herbs are our specialty second courses, served with homemade bread. And last but not least, guests cannot miss our ricotta cannoli accompanied by a good glass of homemade Cannellino or Limoncello.

Great location for visiting Ragusa, Modica. Wonderful, clean room. Amazing home cooked food at a very low price. Be sure to stay for dinner! Mario and his wife Christina are wonderful hosts. Mario has a passion for hospitality. His wife Cristina is a terrific cook. Mario spent a lot of time chatting with us in excellent English after dinner about the farm and our travels. We highly recommend this place.

Difficult rating. The swimming pool is closed. In the beginning I was disappointed, but when I left I thought it was a great place. Friendly relaxed people, good food. Very clean. No lunch. Have a simple lunch at Castello di Donnafugata. Like staying with your grandma. Book a room in the main building, not the annex (but the annex 500 m up the road is cheaper). Real agriturismo, a working farm / cheese makery. Normally I would rate this 7-8. But the extreme low price makes it a 10.

Magical place, guaranteed relaxation. It feels like being in a big family, food of excellent quality, if I could I would give 100, the owners are wonderful, I highly recommend it.

Beautiful rustic style property located among the hills of Ragusa a few kilometers from the inhabited centers and the sea, for lovers of tranquility and good food. Friendly and helpful owners. Satisfied, see you next time.

We spent 3 days of absolute relaxation in this beautiful farmhouse set in the countryside between Comiso and Ragusa. The breakfast was very abundant and varied, you will find a wide variety of cakes, sweet cookies and even savory ones, the clean pool allowed us to relax and refresh. The location is great for visiting Ragusa, the Castle of Donnafugata and other wonderful villages. We also enjoyed the restaurant which allowed us to taste simple but good dishes, we absolutely recommend this place!

Great value for money. Nice place even if a bit isolated: the distance between the room and the main building (where the restaurant and the pool are, for instance) is a bit too much (about 500 meters on foot); having to take the car every time could be annoying, but apart from this small and easily overcome inconvenience, special praise goes to the lady who welcomed us with a smile and was helpful in everything. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! If we were to pass by that area again, we would definitely come back.

Quiet place a few minutes from Comiso. We had a great time. Excellent breakfast and finally dinner: complete menu with starters including freshly made ricotta, hot arancini, cold cuts, cheeses, two first courses, two main courses with side dish, dessert, coffee, bitter, local wine; all very good and plentiful. Overall everything was excellent.

We stayed the first night just landed in Comiso and returned a week later because we really appreciated the service and the welcome. Tenuta Margitello is clean, easy to reach from the airport, and the breakfast is excellent. The staff was very courteous and helpful, they prepared us a great vegetarian dinner and waited until 11:30 pm for a flight delay. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a room in the area.
