Description

The name "Portazza" comes from the ancient customs dating back to the Roman era, which was located where our resort stands today and was a crucial stop for salt trading due to its proximity to the salt pans of Marsala. In the late 1700s, the land was purchased by the noble Montalto family who built one of their summer residences, the so-called "baglio", surrounded by vast vineyards and situated in the picturesque setting of the Stagnone nature reserve.

The structure has remained unchanged until the recent restoration, which allowed for a respectful recovery of the existing building and, at the same time, its transformation into a comfortable holiday villa, equipped with five rooms, three of which are quadruple, one triple and one double.

Inside the baglio, you can enjoy local dishes made with zero km seasonal products from the surrounding area, prepared and served in a family-like environment. Reservation is mandatory at least one day in advance.

The ancient baglio now relies exclusively on renewable energy sources, equipped with a photovoltaic system, solar panels, a cistern for collecting rainwater for irrigation of the large garden and citrus grove, and a biomass boiler that uses organic and recyclable products for combustion. This process of energy redevelopment has led the resort to obtain the Ecolabel Europe certification.

The villa is strategically located, 3 km from the center of the city of Marsala, the ancient Lilibeo, and overlooking the Stagnone Lagoon which, in addition to being a Natural Oriented Reserve, has become in recent years one of the world's top spots for Kitesurfing. It is a few kilometers from the long coastline where there are numerous bathing establishments but also large stretches of free and wild beach.

It is also easy to reach many places famous for their landscape and historical-artistic value, such as Mothia, Segesta, Selinunte, Trapani, Erice, the valley of the temples of Agrigento, Mazara del Vallo, San Vito Lo Capo and the Zingaro nature reserve.

Paradisiacal accommodation, beautiful garden, very quiet, nice owner, not far from the center of Marsala if you have a car. Good starting point to visit the salt pans and the island of Mozia. (Without a car it is rather less sensible.)

Beautiful property on the outskirts of Marsala. It was pristine, set in lovely gardens with a great pool. You will need a car, however. Antonio was very kind, breakfasts were exceptional, and one night we had a dinner. Note: if you don’t like seafood, you should speak up as I don’t, and the meal was all seafood, though no one asked us what we would like to eat, though they did ask the other couple staying there. The room was comfortable with a great rooftop terrace. However, the rooftop terrace is very exposed, and an umbrella and table and chairs would be helpful. All in all, a very relaxing time in comfortable surroundings. Thank you, Antonio.

The property and host are wonderful in every way! The property is beautifully landscaped; the room was lovely, clean, and well-furnished, and the bed was very comfortable. Antonio and his wife provided an excellent breakfast every morning, and cooked two outstanding dinners for us. We cannot say enough good things about our experience. The weather was unusually rainy while we were there so we could not use the beautiful pool, but of course that was outside the control of our hosts! I highly recommend this place.

I was excellently welcomed at the Portazza Resort, which is strategically located to explore the city center in the evening and the island during the day. At the Portazza Resort, you can rent bicycles, highly recommend it. Varied and abundant breakfast, helpful and courteous staff, exceptional structure! I would gladly return.

A perfect holiday from every point of view. Antonio and Luisa splendid hosts. We felt comfortable and they were always kind and helpful. Perfect location, near the lagoon, perfect especially for sports enthusiasts, you can run along the seafront or go kitesurfing, wonderful. Perfect breakfast, especially for athletes, fresh fruit, homemade jam, yogurt, etc. Spacious room and fantastic terrace also to admire the starry sky in the evening, simply amazing. Pool, relaxation, sun, sea. My husband, our two children and I had a wonderful week. We recommend it and will definitely come back.
