Lelè Guesthouse

Lelè Guesthouse is located in Scoglitti, a hamlet of Vittoria, a seaside village on the Mediterranean coast.
The name Scoglitti, according to the Arab geographer Al-Idrisi, derives from the translation of “Gazirat el-Haman” or “Scoglietti dei colombi” because the coast was full of rocks. The expansion of Scoglitti increased after the foundation of Vittoria. As an outlet to the sea, it became a site of trade with Malta and the Mediterranean.
Among the events that marked the history of Scoglitti, it is important to remember the Allied landing of the 7th US Army, between 9 and 10 July 1943, which marked the beginning of the liberation of Italy from the fascist regime.
Today Scoglitti offers extensive sandy beaches on which to relax and enjoy wonderful sunsets over the sea. Famous for its fishing fleet, there are many restaurants where you can taste freshly caught fish.
From the Lelè Guesthouse, with a pleasant walk along the seafront, you can reach the lighthouse and the majestic port of Scoglitti, the center of the village and discover the ancient Church of Santa Maria Di Porto Salvo today of San Francesco di Paola (late 18th century) and the new Church of Santa Maria Di Porto Salvo, built in 1937.
Near the port, there is the "monument to the fisherman" by Sebastiano Messina, a valuable artist of the Sicilian Gruppo di Scicli.

In the surroundings of Scoglitti there are: the Riserva Naturale Orientata Pino d'Aleppo with the aim of safeguarding the remaining native formations of Pinus halepensis; The archaeological site of Camarina, founded by the ancient Greeks on the mouth of the Ippari river and of which remain Structures and finds exhibited at the regional museum of the same name.

The City of Vittoria, of which Scoglitti is a fraction, is located about 13 km from the seaside village. Founded on April 24, 1607, it has a particular checkerboard shape. The center of Vittoria extends along Via Cavour, on which there are three squares.
In Piazza del Popolo, there is the monumental block that includes the Church of the Graces and the Teatro Comunale “Vittoria Colonna”.
In Piazza San Giovanni stands the Basilica of San Giovanni Battista, patron saint of Vittoria, and in Piazza Henriquez, the Henriquez castle, which is among the oldest monuments in the city.
In the opposite direction, at the end of Via Cavour, you can admire “Il Cavallo Ipparino”, a work by Maestro Arturo Di Modica, an illustrious artist from Vittoria, known throughout the world for his Charging Bull, the Wall Street bull.
