Description

In the southernmost part of Italy, Portopalo di Capo Passero, surrounded by crystal-clear sea and untouched nature, amidst the vibrant red prickly pears and the scent of jasmine, the B&B "La rosa del sud" is born.

The mild climate, sunny days, and typical Sicilian cuisine, mainly based on fish, will contribute to making your vacation a unique experience, filled with tranquility and serenity.

Moreover, the property is located near places of great historical, cultural, and natural importance. We must mention Noto with its stunning Baroque architecture, the city of "tyrants" also known as Syracuse, the natural oasis of Vendicari, the "cala mosche" reserve, the Cavagrande lakes in Avola, and the island of Capo Passero, where you can witness the intersection of the Mediterranean Sea and the Ionian Sea. Let's not forget the tuna fisheries in Portopalo and Marzamemi, a nearby fishing village popular with surfers.

Our recently built B&B consists of three double rooms equipped with independent hot/cold air conditioning, a bathroom with a shower, a color TV, a fridge, and Wi-Fi connection. Daily room cleaning and towel changes are provided, while the bed linen is replaced every other day.

The typical Italian breakfast is enriched with the creativity and flair of local gastronomy and is served in a typical Sicilian "baglio."
The property also offers a garage for cars and motorcycles, subject to availability and free of charge.

The B&B "La rosa del sud" can be reached from Syracuse via the SS nr. 115, continuing towards Noto with the SP nr. 19 and nr. 20 towards Pachino Portopalo.

The nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa (100KM), while the nearest train station is Syracuse (50 KM), after which you will need to use the bus service.

What is needed for one or two nights. For this time, I would say it is perfect. You can reach the center of the village on foot. Cleanliness and kindness are the strong points. My husband and I return from Mrs. Rosa at least 1-2 times a year to fully enjoy the sea and relaxation of Portopalo. The B&B is located in a strategic point to move to all the most beautiful beaches (Isola di Capo Passero and delle Correnti, Carratois and Formiche) and to enjoy bars, self-service, and restaurants. Impeccable cleaning service and attention to detail, excellent breakfast with delicious sweets served on a delightful terrace by the landlady. I highly recommend it! La Rosa del Sud.

Normal house on the road at the edge of the village. No view. Room a bit dark but spacious and equipped with everything, even a mini-bar. Breakfast without salty products but with very good fresh pastries and different every day. Mrs. Rosa very friendly and attentive.

Cozy, very clean, and well-maintained structure. The room is a bit small, but it's fine for two. The lady was very kind and caring to welcome us, even though she had a family emergency, she waited for us upon our arrival. Then she had to leave, but her husband, Mr. Enzo, was also very kind and helpful. Convenient to the sea and the center of Portopalo, therefore to the main commercial activities. We couldn't enjoy breakfast because of the lady's unexpected event, but she provided us with vouchers to have breakfast at the bar, attached to the B&B. In case of a new stay in Portopalo, we would choose it again!

Every year I happen to visit some cities in Sicily staying in B&Bs, but this is definitely the best I have come across: very clean rooms equipped with all the essentials (including air conditioners and refrigerator, essential during beach holidays and too often missing in many structures); very kind and helpful owners; terrace available; great location; extraordinary breakfast with fresh and delicious local pastries, fruit juices of all kinds and everything you could want - at very competitive prices. I often return to the Portopalo-Marzamemi area, next time I will choose this structure again and will not abandon it anymore. Only flaw: the managers do not often monitor emails, it is advisable to call (and try several times because there are often reception problems). Highly recommended.

I stayed with my husband at this B&B run by Mrs. Rosa. To say it's excellent is an understatement, I rated it 10 because there was no 11 available. It has only 3 rooms, so it's very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are very clean and always very fragrant. There's a little garden where you can hang your things. A small breakfast room that looks like a jewel box, with 3 tables set with delicious pastries. Mrs. Rosa is a wonderful person, very kind and sweet, she gave us great tips for exploring the surroundings. And what about the breakfast, lots of Sicilian sweets made by her every morning (she woke up at 5.30) to make us have a royal breakfast at 8. Definitely coming back, for me, who is a bit picky, it was top-notch in every way. I recommend it 100% for feeling at home and pampered. Thank you for everything Mrs. Rosa. From Sabrina and Andrea.

A very quiet Bed and Breakfast, in an area not frequented by tourists, but a few kilometers from beautiful beaches and the baroque district. The environment is very comfortable and clean, and the atmosphere is homey, relaxed, and calming: it feels like being at home. But at home, you do not wake up finding a pantagruelian breakfast already prepared, set on a terrace that smells of sea and jasmine, and consisting of a hypercaloric bouquet of still warm Sicilian pastries: made at home by the owner of the B&B. An excursion off the traditional tourist routes, which pays off greatly: an experience worth having.

Welcoming at a high level. Courtesy and attention to detail from the lady are absolutely positive. The breakfast is splendid with fresh products and is also well curated in its composition. A less positive note about the location of the structure, although the rooms are arranged in such a way as to keep noise at bay. The quality-price ratio is absolutely positive. We spent a wonderful week at the B&B "La Rosa del Sud". Mrs. Rosa is a person of great hospitality and availability. She cleaned the rooms and changed the towels every day (and we also had one change of linens). The rooms are not very large but cozy and all have air conditioning (thankfully!). The breakfast is plentiful: every day there are six different types of cookies. The location is excellent: one minute on foot from the course of Portopalo and convenient for reaching by car all the most beautiful locations and beaches of southern Sicily. I hope to return. Highly recommended!
