Description
The B&B has a quiet and sunny position, it is sorrounded by a wide garden and is the ideal way to spend your holiday between mountain and sea. Nicolosi (the B&B's town) represents in fact a strategic point that enables you to visit all the main East Sicily's wonders: Acitrezza's "Faraglioni", Catania's baroque, Taormina, Noto, Caltagirone, Piazza Armerina, Agrigento, the entire island will be in your hand!
It is a beautiful and confortable villa, just built up, furnished in a lovely but at the same time practical way, with attention on details, and materials that are typical of here, such as lavic stone and ghiara (Rena rossa), that comes from the burning of melted sediments during volcanic eruptions. The two rooms, wide and homey, are personilized by handmade decora on walls and forniture, decora that we even find in the American kitchen.
The owner is a young (but motivated indeed) man, really affectionate to his land. He is available to be your guide and then to share with his hosts the culture of the most important and interesting places you can visit.
You will have also the chance to take part in half-day/full-day excursions, with the expert guides of Etna Experiece, who will lead you through the Etna's tracks showing you the volcano's wonders.

Nicolosi’s history begins in the 12th century, when a Benedictine Monastery dedicated to San Nicolò l’Arena was erected on a former Chapel. This was to be moved to Catania some century later.
Around the monastery soon grew a village that took the name of the religious building, long ruled by the Moncadas from Paternò.
Nicolosi has numerous buildings of architectural and historical interest. The Mother Church, dedicated to the Holy Spirit was largely restructured after the 1669 eruption; it contains several interesting works of art such as a wooden Crucifix and an organ.
The benedictine monastery of San Nicolò l’Arena, at a short distance from town, was built at Frederick II of Aragon’s behest. It is now seat of the Etna Park.
Among the minor churches a mention must go to San Giuseppe’s and the small Anime del Purgatorio’s.
In Nicolosi, where the official guides are centred (095/7914755), begins a nice road that stretches up to the Rifugio Sapienza, from where excursions to the crater start.
Up to the summit of Etna – The route lies through a strangely unnerving landscape with black lava below and blue sky above, relieved occasionally by a white patch of snow or lonely cloud as if for dramatic effect. Before getting to the refuge, a sign points to the Crateri Silvestri, moonlike craters a short walk away, at a height of 1886 m.

Self-check-in is very convenient by following the manager's instructions. Quiet area. Clean place and friendly staff. The only things I want to point out are that the shower remains a bit open and at night when returning to the room, the avenue is very dark on the street.

Splendid structure in a quiet area but close to the center, spacious quadruple room, large bathroom, all clean and tidy. We really appreciated the kindness and availability of the manager, we recommend it to families with children who want to explore the Etna area.

Georgio couldn't have been more helpful. Staying at La Rena Rossa B&B meant the last 48 hours of our holiday in Sicily were perfect. It was easy to get to from the autostrada and easy to get from it to Mount Etna. In our last few hours we were able to walk the trails around Monto Rossi and swim on a beach close to the airport and return our hired car all based on Giorgio's information. Oh, and the evening before we had walked into the town for good food.

Excellent B&B, the manager is very kind and helpful, in short we recommend it without a doubt. A note that may be helpful for future customers: in the description of La Rena Rossa B&B it is indicated the presence of a kitchenette, a reason that led us, among other things, to choose this structure. However, once we arrived we were told that its use is only allowed in case of renting the entire apartment. We therefore believe that the description could be improved as it is not clear about the conditions of kitchen use. That said, absolutely perfect stay.

We stayed just one night as a stopover, but we had a great time: we arrived very late due to flight problems, the manager waited for us and provided us with all the comforts (e.g. water). Very spacious room and bathroom, with a nice living room and kitchen use. Very convenient to head towards Etna.

In the center of Sicily, an ideal location for those who want to visit all the most beautiful places in the region. Kitchen and spacious and airy room, bathroom ensuite. I would add something in the room to hang clothes, a small coat rack or even some simple chairs. Kind and helpful people.
