Description

"Il Gelso Vacanze” is a Bed & Breakfast on a quite spot at only 200mt from the sea and withing a gentle walking distance from the village of Malfa; here you will find bar, restaurants, newsagents, boutiques and a supermarket.

Through a driveway shaded by pine trees, you get to the parking lot.

The internal little streets, surrounded by flowers and lush plants, lead to terraces that reflect the typical Aeolian architecture, also reflected in the bedrooms with antique furniture with classic wrought iron either made in Naples or Sicily.

All the rooms. each provided with bathroom with shower, overlook a terrace (bagghiu) which is always facing the sea and with seats of masonry (Bisola) on the edge.

Columns (Pulera) supports the roof of the terrace made from wattle and lush bouganvilee. In ancient times it was so, and even today, is so.

Area

Salina has always been known as the green pearl due to its lush vegetation, despite the absence of water sources. Even in the height of summer, the terrain remains verdant and luxurious. This island is located in a geographically privileged position in the center of the Aeolian archipelago, making it possible to reach other islands by boat or hydrofoil. To the south are Lipari and Vulcano, to the northeast are Panarea and Stromboli, and to the west are Filicudi and Alicudi. Salina is made up of two ancient, extinct volcanic cones, Monte Fossa delle Felci (962 m) and Monte dei Porri (860 m), so similar to each other that they inspired the island's name in antiquity, Didyme (Twins). However, the current name dates back to the Roman period and is due to the presence of a brackish lake, used as a salt pan, located in the present-day Lingua, a fraction of the municipality of Santa Marina.

Couldn't have been better. Il Gelso Vacanze is a magical garden with the most beautiful view of the sea. Charming rooms, a tasty Italian breakfast, and a very friendly host that instantly makes you feel at home. The beach and Malfa's square with bars and shops are just a five-minute walk away. Paolo was very helpful with his suggestions on what to explore and where to eat. Tanze grazie, I will be back soon!

I would have liked a better breakfast and a swimming pool, but Gia Franco is so welcoming and so nice. It was a pleasure to stay in this place.

We stayed a couple of days in this facility which in our opinion is at the top of its category. The structure is surrounded by a large well-kept garden, terrace, and sea-facing verandas. Spacious rooms and essential furnishings. Gianfranco, the manager, is extremely kind and helpful.

Very clean and spacious room, equipped with a balcony complete with a hammock. Good and plentiful breakfast. The owner is a very kind person, attentive to the customer, and available to provide information about the area. Absolutely recommended for a stay in Malfa.

We had a great time, we found great courtesy and availability. The place is surrounded by greenery and everywhere you can breathe the scent of flowers. Convenient to the center but with the scooter or car you can go wherever you want. We will keep a wonderful memory.

Typical Aeolian structure with a sea view. Spacious rooms equipped with a terrace furnished with deck chairs and a hammock. Functional bathroom with comfortable dimensions. Double ventilation (fan and air conditioning). Breakfast well assorted and complete: fruit, pastries, homemade jams, boiled eggs, fruit juices (only downside is the lack of fresh juices), fresh bread. Courtesy and kindness from the manager. An unforgettable stay.
