Description

A vintage villa from the early 20th century, in the quiet heart of Sferracavallo, just a five-minute walk from the sea. The Dammuso is not a hotel: it is a real house, with the history and character that only old Sicilian homes can preserve.

The double rooms, all with en-suite private bathrooms, overlook the house's private garden—a green and quiet corner that surprises those who arrive. The original floors, shutters, paintings, and furnishings tell of decades of authentic Sicilian life.

Each room has its own personality: those who seek the suspended atmosphere of period furniture, those who prefer the vibrant colors of the most lively Sicily, those who simply want a sober and restful space. Three different styles, the same care.

The property is located at Via Dammuso 64—the same street that once hosted the dammuso buildings: a historical root that we have chosen not to forget.

Just a few steps away: the sea, the seafront fish restaurants, the Sferracavallo Sailing Club, and the entrance to the Capo Gallo Nature Reserve. Palermo city center is reachable in 10-15 minutes by public transport. Check-in is in person. We are available during your stay.

Il Dammuso was born in 2009 from an idea by Francesco — an entrepreneur with a deep sense of things done well and a visceral connection to this land. Giving it shape was Pina, an architect, with the sensitivity of someone who knows how to read spaces and return them with care.

Today, Ilaria, a nutritionist biologist, welcomes you, with the same attention to detail applied to what surrounds us: the sea, the reserve, the land.

A house with history, always inhabited. That is why we know how to point out what is worth seeking, even when it is not in plain view.

The Dammuso is located in Sferracavallo, behind the Sailing Club, just a short walk from the Capo Gallo Nature Reserve.

The sea, equipped beaches, seafood restaurants, and bus stops are reachable within a five-minute walk. Mondello is five minutes by car; the center of Palermo about twenty. Sferracavallo is not outside the city — it is within the city, but elsewhere. Entirely situated between the Capo Gallo Reserve and the Isola delle Femmine Reserve, the village offers a waterfront and internal trails ideal for those who do not give up running, trekking, cycling, or sailing even on vacation.

For those who want to explore, the location is convenient: the neighborhood is served by urban lines 614, 616, and 628, with direct connection to the city center and Mondello. A few minutes on foot is the Sferracavallo train station, on the Palermo–Airport metro line: getting off at Palazzo Reale–Orleans reaches the heart of the historic center — Palazzo dei Normanni, the Cathedral, Piazza Indipendenza — about 25 minutes; Palermo Centrale about 30 minutes. Falcone-Borsellino Airport is about 23 minutes in the opposite direction. Trains every half hour. Trapani, Erice, and Cefalù can be reached for day trips. A peaceful base in any season.

Perfect for those who want to explore Palermo and its surroundings from a quieter location. Since I did not want to go directly into the hustle and bustle of the city centre, I chose this place outside the centre. The train connection is reliable and runs hourly to the city and the airport. The town is peaceful but full of life. If you do not mind a short hike, you can reach the Capo Gallo nature reserve after about 30–45 minutes on foot, where you can also swim excellently. The accommodation was perfect for my purposes. Simple, charming, two minutes from the sea and directly opposite is the best gelateria I have ever visited. The Wi‑Fi was good and, above all, available. The air conditioning, with a remote control and many settings, is a blessing for visitors. The small fridge hums a bit loudly, but it is good for the wallet because you can store your own snacks. Especially since breakfast is not provided. You can get to the train station without a car in seven minutes by Lime bike and in 15 minutes on foot. The host Ilaria was extremely accommodating and even waited an extra hour for me when I arrived late. We communicated via WhatsApp. She was open to all my tourist questions as well as light-hearted personal conversations, which is why I said goodbye feeling almost more like a friend than a guest. If I visit the region again, this will be my first port of call. The offer may possibly be expanded to include a wine-tasting course. We will see.

Located in the town where the best fish is served. For those who do not have high expectations, it is perfect. Nearby there is the metro that connects to Palermo. The rooms are spacious and clean. The welcome is friendly. Ilaria was very kind. I would definitely return. The only gap is the lack of parking.

You have arrived in paradise. Near there is Palermo. But still all the untouched nature. Ilaria gives you all the advice. Breakfast is done in the nearby ice cream parlor, 20 meters. Il Dammuso is a lovely bed and breakfast run by the super hospitable homeowner Ilaria. The room was nice and light, with windows overlooking the lovely garden. A pretty large bathroom with a bath in it. Nice and clean. We spent a lovely couple of days in it and would definitely consider coming back if we visit Sicily/Palermo again.

Reception, availability and kindness, like being in the family. The center of Palermo is easily reached by the surface metro, so if you don't have to go far you can stay without a car. The sea is wonderful, the Capo Gallo natural reserve is beautiful, the people are wonderful, the food is unique. I will definitely go back.

I stayed with my wife and a couple of friends during the patron saint's feast. Despite some parking issues (due to the event) solved thanks to the care of the managers. Excellent structure and cleanliness, fabulous breakfasts. Ilaria and her parents are wonderful people. A must try.
